Yep agree - in their day they were the ducks nuts, bullet proof mechanically. Yours is a brilliant example. I haven't driven a 20v, have done the Turbo 10v & used to own the standard Quattro coupe, even that was a brilliant car to drive - very engaging - & easy to get in trouble with the law...

Ha I have all the original paperwork /documentation for this car too
-
Welcome & great cars so far. That E28 looked great On the E12 thing - I probably have the close sister to it. This one an 08/78 build, & was Tourist Delivery to the first owner (we are the second) as was hers, except this one still virtually as good as it came out of the factory, & have the original "Tourist" plates from it too
-
Pity you hadn't made yourself known Jason - I would have caught up to meet you. Didn't have the race car unfortunately,(merely spectating/support) but passed in this morning then out this arvo in the E12 And yes - left after the last BMW race - before the wind blast!
-
Seriously, from the first pic you show i it doesn't look overly serious damage, certainly nowhere near write off material
-
Yep there abouts. Although an older car, I head butted the concrete wall at Puke in my E30 race car, at about 25 -30 kmh & virtually square on. Minimal damage - bumper has concrete rash, broke the kidney grille, broke the L/H headlight frame mounting (not the lamps) very slight turn down on leading edge of the bonnet (hardly noticeable) & L/H rail pushed back about 30mm. Slight tweak in the valance. A simple repair, still to be done - once I sort the engine!
-
I find it unbelievable to have done that sort of damage mentioned above at a speed of 10 ish kph
-
Suggest you completely degrease it then check again soon after to locate the source.

20v Ur Quattro Coupe Mmmmm, oh & the M5 too...
-
^^^^^ So why then did BMW produce the M5 as a V8 then instead of a 6? Considering they have world class 6cyl engines in the M3 Don't disagree that the E39 6 is a better balanced car. Edit - the ^^^^ refers to two above
-
Welcome Ben & a great choice. E39 tis a great car & IMO will run rings around Subaru's. Hardly a luxo barge though - that's more the 7's. Looks like there's no pressure to be seen in the "work" vehicles then huh
-
Mmmmm nice. Looking great Josh
-
^^^^ Yep, I have struck the odd one (not just BMW but Transit too) that has not come loose with just the spanner & obligitry hammer/sharp blow. Most do but some can be a ba##ard. Each time - I think - I must make a tool, then forget about it till the next time...
-
Ahh, but according to Toby - you don't change your vehicles Allan...
-
Seen the light huh. Welcome
-
^^^^ Yep to above. On that note - I go out to many "flooded" cars on AA call outs. Almost all have occured when a car has been started, backed out of garage & turned off to to wash it, started, returned to garage & turned off. Next day.... no go. An explanation to the member of the reasons for & they usually get the picture. An absolute pet hate of mine is to start & stop a cold engine.

I probably should have quantified but i was meaning the M52TU 2.5 was the same engine with either badging - depending on market. Yes the M54 is a further development on the M52TU. Both good engines
-
523i/525i same engine - 2.5l. The Jap version was true badging
-
May want to quantify the description. That is only the monitor (a dumby, apart from the tape deck) It needs all the other modules to operate.

Mmmmmmmmmm

Importing Engine and other parts from USA

Surely an M30 would be a relatively easy find here. I couldn't imagine it viable to ship one in -
Thought you were a NZ new man Clinton? I have bought in a couple but were several years back. My E39 & a Terrano. Used Kiwi Car Carriers then
-
Dunno why you would have been told that, as above - any fitting unit is fine. The electrics in the donor car would have been far more demanding than the E30
-
Well probably just easier to drive to a workshop. A minute to test & confirm.
-
Simple to test the switch rather than guessing. Just check for power out when pedal is depressed.
