Pretty straight forward. Anyone with some mechanical knowledge can do. If you are unsure - take it to a garage.
-
Sure can - need a piece of wire or similar to rotate the adjuster mechanism to set clearance.
-
Why not take it back to where you had the original fixes done for them to appraise?

So... was the news interesting?

Yep, that type of "alarm" sounds likely & the type of scenaio I was thinking

E39 ambience lights and dash lights on a seperate switch?

Yep point! Forgot to add that one -
That's funny Simon, I haven't seen that one. I see by the display it is still with the Jap nav unit connected so may be something to do with that. Maybe an audible alarm in the car? I haven't played with a Jap setup for a long time, ditched that years ago in our car & when doing conversions - I just remove the Jap nav unit without looking at the screen options. An alarm in a Jap car is very rare, I have heard of one but not seen for myself. Certainly I have not seen that in the display with a Euro (NZ) nav system fitted. With Euro nav - the screen graphics and options are different

Yea aware of that. I'm not sure that E46's do though?? Possibly:-
-
I stand to be corrected but I am not aware of the E65 needing coding (up to 04 anyway) I have replaced batteries in these before without any issues. As Glenn says - to eliminate current draw as the issue - it needs to be monitored in sleep mode.

Chris - I take it you meen the two orange LED's by the interior light? Along with ALL the orange illumination inside the car? Dash, switches etc. Lighting is controlled by the LCM. I have never done, seen, nor heard of this mod but it is probably easily possible if it is one supply out of the LCM (I haven't checked) - where it could be tapped into with another switched supply, via a relay or diode. -
Not to my knowledge

^^^^^ You need a programme to be able to code it - Navcoder etc It can't be done remotely. I could do it if you were to send me the video module out of the car

For all those above stating - I have done this or that, painted this or that colour, to this or that degree, the situation clearly relies on the WOF inspectors "subjective" or observant approach in inspecting the car for the WOF as to whether it fails or not. As per discussions in other recent threads here. Getting away with it doesn't change the fact that the rules say - you can't! - You just haven't been noticed, or if so - held accountable

Happy B/Day Darryn - hope you've had a good one
