Yes violet/white for acc, check it though - there is another wire same colour in the loom that is not

To my knowledge the 320 was denoted by dual headlights (same size 5.3/4") whereas the 316 & 318's had single. Can't say I have seen one with 7" & 5.3/4 - aka E28 though

Cant imagine it overheating that much in this present weather - particually if it is stationary when doing it? Sounds like an airlock to me. They can be a bitch to bleed:-
-
Pretty well covered options Olli. I usually only two thirds fill the system & run until thermostat opens to allow air to escape before topping up. How are the heater hoses bypassed - a chance for trapping air?
-
Left & right locks have opposite actuator arms

Agreed with Greg - nothing wrong with the E39 2.5 TU engine. Not a rocket ship off the mark but still quite OK & certainly no slug. I certainly wouldn't go 2.0l though. I would though, if getting another, probably go for 530i

They aren't overly expensive new - BNT & the like

E53 X5 Stereo Upgrade options
hotwire replied to [email protected]'s topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Welcome to the site. Haven't upgraded an X5 system myself but am aware of it having been done for similar complaints. From memory the door speakers are fairly mediocre & are easily upgraded with better units. Some X5's have a sub in the rear R/H corner Has your vehicle got TV monitor? -
Ouch - not wrong! Some seriously nice cars there...or were
-
Don't think it is OEM, not NZ new anyway - they were an Alpine unit with BMW on the face - as below If your car is ex Japan - it may be the original - has it got NZ FM frequency?
-
Sounds like water pump - can you not see where it is coming from?
-
Well... nearly perfect then
-
Nice car you have there. Glad you intend to keep it in that condition. Funny how you have already confirmed some of the main E30 weaknesses. Still the odd original Alpine radios around. I have had & sold a couple over the yrs Haven't checked but from memory front & rear badges are different I have some spare seats etc Im sure will be the same colour if you require

Doesn't need to be OEM, and to my knowledge NZ dealers won't have OEM either(stand to be corrected) Just get a good quality Calcium battery to replace. Unlikely to get the life of the original fit (usually Varta) batteries - they tend to be a step above in quality. Over the years I have replaced many original fit BMW batteries that have been 10 & up to 14 yrs old
-
Sorry... but if it aint broke... I would have thought Josh had that car pretty well perfect
-
I too would suggest belt slippage. Only thing I can think likely

As Allan said, a drive will only put a surface charge on the battery. It needs to be charged & then load tested to confirm its state of durability. Yes the car will go to sleep with the boot open. The light will time out. As above - battery requires proper test to confirm it's durability. It will still start the car over a wide variation of state of charge (varying depending on ambient temperature), a fine line between go & no go. Being 11 yrs old, I would say it's on the way out. I had to replace a battery about 18 months ago in my 99 car. 10 yrs is about the benchmark for the original Euro battery.

is the e30 worth getting repaired after the latest crash?
hotwire replied to nzhaystack's topic in Maintenance
Mitch, thats all very well but if you had hit his car - his insurance company would be after yours who in turn would penalise you (excess etc) for having been in the wrong. As stated above - you must drive at a distance to be able to stop short of the person in front, regardless if they jump on the brakes. At the end of the day - you were both driving on the same road surface. Good luck with the repair - it does look minor -
New to the forum, just got my first BMW!

You did... a pretty good tank though And German too! -
As stated already - I agree the Terrano/Pathfinder a better vehicle than the Toyota. Virtually bullet proof TD series engines. A couple of common issues in the R50 series that you link to - as mentioned - rear suspension bushes but also they have issues with the electronic injector pump failing & costing 2 -3k to fix. As opposed to the earlier D21 version that has a fully mechanical pump & lasts forever. Another point with the R50 - some can have noisy diffs. I understand there are a couple of diffs used in this model - a fine gear version & a course one. As I understand, one version is suceptable to whining. Not sure which.

Do like Don't like... how it can be confused with a 300C from the front. Rather an insult to the Bently!
-
Not wrong on the stone problem being common in E39's - when running on 18's anyway. Always been the fronts on ours & nearly always has involved removing the wheel to fix!
-
Bound to be a stone wedged between the disc & backing plate. Otherwise - worn /low pad - the low pad sensors are on L/H front & R/H rear

HB Fella, catch up soon!
