I want a set of rare wheels too!!!

There is a globe behind the light switch which should come on when you turn the ignition on. It is a small push in one like the one that should be under the gearlever. Foglamps use fuses 29, 30 and relay K8. K8 needs to be a double pole relay and is normally black in colour. Maybe the green globe is blown also?? Will

From the LTSA website... "How much can your vehicle tow safely? Most vehicles have tow ratings given to them by the manufacturer specifying the gross trailer weight braked, unbraked, or both, that the vehicle can safely tow. Although the law does not require these tow ratings to be followed, Land Transport New Zealand (Land Transport NZ) recommends that they be taken into account. In addition to the requirements above, the law requires that every light vehicle and trailer combination must be capable of stopping within a distance of seven metres from a speed of 30 km/h. In effect, this means that the maximum allowable weight of an unbraked trailer is limited by the weight and braking ability of the vehicle being used to tow it. Land Transport NZ recommends, as a guide, that the laden weight of an unbraked trailer should not exceed three quarters of the unladen weight of the towing vehicle and then only if the towing vehicle’s brakes and tyres are in excellent condition. A trailer heavier than this may prevent the vehicle combination from meeting the seven metre from 30 km/h brake performance requirement. To illustrate the increase in stopping distance when towing an unbraked trailer, consider a trailer with a laden weight equal to the weight of the towing vehicle. This combination can be expected to have double the stopping distance of the towing vehicle alone, and even a towing vehicle with good brakes is likely to fail the legal brake performance requirement of seven metres from 30 km/h. If the trailer is equipped with brakes, it may be possible to safely tow a trailer heavier than three quarters of the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, but the seven metres from 30 km/h brake performance requirement still applies." I would hesitate to tow my racecar behind an E30, but, if you do, I would get heavy duty rear springs installed and make sure the brakes on the trailer were functioning properly. I have towed e30s on a braked trailer behind my e30 and found it to be stressful... if any plonker did something ugly in front of you and you had to brake and/or take evasive action, the weight of the trailer tended to unsettle the rear of the tow car quite badly. My opinion for what it's worth.. Will

e34 does not use the M30 motor in 2.5 configuration. -
I'm with Riley here, if you read other forums you will find that the standard M3 airbox seems to be pretty much optimised and people seem only to lose HP by altering or fitting (cheap?) aftermarket systems. Will

You are in trouble. If the new box doesn't have place for the sensors, either you will have to get them somehow welded/machined in or you will have to convert the motor to motronic 1.3 that uses a crank pulley sensor. Will

Thanks Glenn, will see what turns up and get back to you. Will

Most e28 2.5 are M30, the e28 525e uses the M20 2.7 . I think maybe some of the earlier e28 might have used the m20 2.5 but I have never seen one. (watch BMW prove me wrong here.. ) You will see on the intake manifold 2.5/2.8 or 3.2/3.5 or 3.3/3.5 cast into it. If it has the dizzy sticking up above the front of the motor it is the M30, I don't think the M30 2.5 ever used the motronic. I would doubt if the sump off an e34 would fit the m30 motor but as I have never tried it, you never know.. Will -
Radiator required for e36 316/318i with M43 motor, do not want anything that needs repairs. Alternatively if anyone has the header tank from the passenger side (one with the filler cap) in good condition, that will do too.. Please give me a price if you have one and want to get rid of it. PM me.. Will

That is an idle stabiliser, prevents the engine from cutting out if you blip the throttle or take your foot off the accelerator suddenly. Won't cause the problem you are having. You may have a faulty air flow meter, see if you can borrow one from someone with the same engine as yours. Will

Riley, as far as I can remember the pre-f/l carby and early injected motors were the same, both had those small port heads. I bought a long block that was a carb model and bolted up all the bits from a blown injected motor (broke cambelt), that was some time ago now. I have a motor here, was running, came out of a rusty e30 but did go well, drove it from Taupo to Paeroa before wrecking it. But you would need to be REALLY desperate to want it, we couldn't really be further away? Seems a bit odd you can't find one close to home though?? Give me a yell if you want it... 021786709 Will

Fuel pump could be on the way out, also could be a blocked fuel filter. If you can clearly hear the fuel pump running while the car is idling, it is a sign that it is on its way out. It should run almost silently. Check that the petrol tank vent is open, if it is blocked, it will pull a vacuum in the tank and starve fuel under demand. Take the fuel cap off and try it, if it cures it clean all the spiders/whatever out of the vent.. HT leads can also cause problems, check the resistances across the leads, should be <10Kohm. Replace if greater. Will
