Effective brakes in a m60/2 conversion are a bigger pain in the butt job than fitting the motor.. definitely not a little thing!

M60B30 looks identical so beware.. If you have the ECU, it will have the VIN on it, use that to pull up the build sheet, it will tell you what motor it is. Otherwise the code alongside the engine number will tell you the capacity.

Tony is referring to the internals being the same as those found in an e30 med case LSD so he can swap them into an e30 casing for his v8. The 3.64 he has does not allow for the crownwheel/pinion to be swapped for a 3.07 as the crownwheel mounting on the 3.64 LSD unit has a different offset to the 3.07 unit. IIRC it is not the same..? Been a VERY long time since I had one of these open though..

Does this look like a sedan to you??? Taken early into the conversion (obviously) and completed with all OEM parts and no bashing of critical members above diffs, cutting pieces off propshafts etc. Like Glenn I do NOT do bodging, no8 wire work etc. It really gets up my nose when someone works like a bush mechanic and then tries to justify all the 'work' as proper work when challenged. This results in vehicles which are a potential hazard to myself and everyone on our roads. Why should I tread carefully when it could be fatal???

No cutting of linkages is necessary when using a 220 box, nor any body mods or any trimming of the propshaft for fitting a medium case diff. I have done it with ALL OEM bits except for the rear part of the 328i exhaust. Just love it when know-it-alls know nothing but still insist on trying it on to boost their e-cocks.. :wacko:
