Nice choice, we need more pics. ? Desirable wheels, looks like an aftermarket exhaust too.

A few people do the delete and it does look good. When I was waiting for the new motor I was considering leaving it off but the first rain convinced me otherwise. The low pressure zone at the rear of the car just sucks in too much crap. Here's the link, unfortunately the free shipping offer seems to have ended (but it's still only NZ$16): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1000006623345.html

Rear wiper has a fundamentally flawed design, common problem (check yours if you have an E81/7): Fixed with a NZ$70 pattern part from China, arrived in less than a week with free shipping. Over NZ$350 for a BMW one that has the same flaw so will just fail again. It should be illegal to sell something with a known design flaw. Oh yeah, it is illegal BMW. Tisk, tisk.

No envelope on any screen, no option in settings to enable/disable function.

Weird, that you think a totally disproportionate response was appropriate. And being snide is below your station, leave the attitude at the front door would you. The warning you sent me which resulted in this mess was for a post that was not offensive, a point made obvious by the fact that you didn't bother to edit or remove the post. If either you or Jon had the courtesy to advise me what you found so offence I would have happily edited the posts myself, it's not like anything needed urgent or dramatic attention. You don't need URL's for my posts threads, they should all be restored, they shouldn't have been hidden in the first place. I still can't access PM's.

Interesting thread... Between the 14th and 20th of April @E30 325i Rag-Top and @BreakMyWindow screwed around with my account. I received a number of "warnings" for various posts (none of which seemed to break any rules). You can see two of the warnings here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/profile/14-m3an/ but some have been removed. On approx. 17th of April my post and messaging privileges on the site were removed by @BreakMyWindow without cause or explanation, the whole site became read-only to me. I still do not have access to PM's at all (read or send). A few days later (approx 20 April) my two vehicle posts (M3 and 130i - as per my signature) became unavailable to all users, logged in to BS or not. They are still unavailable. (this may have happened at the same time as my read-only ban, I didn't check at the time) On approx 25 April I used the 'contact us' message to the site admins to ask what was going on. I received no acknowledgement or reply. Nobody told me I was banned, nobody told me why I was banned, nobody told me I was unbanned and nobody told me why they hid/deleted/removed my vehicle threads (not all my threads, just those two in particular). A great deal of respect shown there. Look, I hold out hope that all this was a mistake and monumental cock-up but the lack of engagement and follow-up really makes me wonder. Regardless, I'm happy to leave if people want me to leave but it seems like an abuse of power to me, some accountability would be respected. I may have rubbed some people up the wrong way in my time (unapologetic) but I've been a meaningful and (mostly) positive contributor here for nearly two decades and I had two really valuable threads that were internationally respected. If this is how the BS staff want to treat their loyal user base then I'm happy to move on, just say it out loud. Unless the situation is explained properly and my threads are restored I'm wondering why I should even bother. Hence the lack of recent contribution. The ball is in Bimmersport's court. Thanks for standing in my corner @sweetm3.

Hmm, interesting... does the e36 one fit the motorsport bumper? Do you remove the existing splitter? Looks like you're good at this stuff... I have a genuine Hamann e36 spoiler that is really "race fit" only but with a bit of fettling could end up being the base for a great mould... interesting idea? Heaps of pics here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/47049-m3an-e36-m3-plog-project-log/page/14/ More: https://rejsa.nu//forum/viewtopic.php?p=1155696 More: https://www.bmw-syndikat.de/bmwsyndikatfotos/topic3995_Hamann_E36_Coupe_HM3_0__Update__3er_BMW_-_E36.html

I'm not a buyer but are you genuinely only selling them as a pair?
-
And the shiny lips on those rims! ?

I think it's this one, although I've not seen one in person. https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-performance-shift-knob-6-spd-25110429269

Man, they don't hold up to use very well do they! Not such good work there BMW.
-
That was nuts. Awesome, thanks.
-
The thing hasn't even been on a dyno, and yeah, no manual box. What's the point? Certainly can't claim it's worth $50k when you can even explain why.
-
Nope... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2535368753.htm

They shut down sport, then they shut down Radio Sport so now I have Newstalk to listen to during the day which is no substitute. I'm also watching my laptop a lot, up to 7 hours of Zoom a day. And then I'm so f'ing exhausted that I frequently fall asleep on the couch watching nothing at all. I have GB's of TV to catch up on, might start Dev's this weekend.
-
I agree. Although I did a de-cat in 2003 and it would prick my bum if they chose to pull me up on it now!
-
I just say accept the above advice. If you're undecided auto/manual then you absolutely need to drive an auto, and in traffic, before you decide. But if you're happy with a 'quick enough' auto then just aim for the be value/options one you can find. Regardless, even manuals can be had for <$10k so don't even consider the crazy priced ones.

And check for oil leaks from the engine or trans sump, $1500 each to replace if you take it to a shop. They all eventually leak, so it's just a matter of knowing and negotiating accordingly.

There are many modules in the e36 that only work via ADS and even more than can only report shadow codes over ADS. You can insist what you like @polley but the rest of the world that have tried have all reached the same conclusion. The debate was finished over a decade ago.
-
Read through here too: https://www.bimmergeeks.net/ Standard tools and a TinyADS adaptor... I disagree that USB is suitable.
-
Yeah, the two pieces of software you need are INPA and DIS (actually "EasyDIS" for copies out in the wild). INPA runs natively on Windows, DIS runs in a VM. You also need an ADS cable (search for TinyADS). You'll need a laptop with a genuine RS-232 serial port or a docking station/port replicator with one, a USB adaptor will not work. Win 10 x86/x64 is fine.
-
Yes, you need to read the code. Any scanner will be able to do that with the ignition set to "on" even if the engine's not actually started. I'm not the right one to recommend a scanner because I use the BMW software on a laptop. Your symptoms were similar to mine in my M52 and mine was a cam position sensor failing.

What's best practice for servicing the box? Just lube changes or more than that?
