  1. What's a "heater of the engine ventilation line" do you know? Besides a literal translation from Deutsch.
  2. A few things arrived for the 130 today. H8 LED's for my fog lights, the OEM ones are yellow and don't match the 5500K angel eyes or the HID's. I don't actually use the fog lights unless it's, well foggy, but they may work as complementary DRL's, we'll see. And, much to my surprise a recall notice from BMW NZ, apparently "the heater of the engine ventilation line has to be replaced" whatever the fook that is? Anyone else get one?
  3. Agreed, lovely example, sharp price.
  4. Seller also has exactly 0 trades... burner account? Too much suspicion with this one, including the full body respray.
  5. Not looking to poach (maybe) but what are the specs of these including offset?
  6. I realise there's a proper tool but I just use a two or three arm puller depending which will fit. I have a puller set you can use.
  7. My 130 is about the highest mileage one I looked at, the paint is poor but it's mechanically the best one I saw and everybody that's seen the interior says 'it looks brand new'. Mileage is a poor indicator of condition, of all people dealers should understand that. I can't help but think they're just trying it on.
  8. Max recommended size for a 8" rim is 245.
  9. BMW parts are expensive. Alfa parts require you to sell your children.
  10. Look, I'd take the dark line rear lights but, in 2020, why do dealers still try to hock low km cars for silly prices? Regardless of miles, this is $5k over-priced: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2648370777.htm Also rubbish photos, looks to have an aftermarket headunit (+spoiler, +pedal covers).
  11. Have no idea what the story is, the guys at the parts place said so many cars come form Japan with them missing that they wondered once if they could be optioned-out at purchase. Unlikely but it is a strange bit of kit to be largely made of unobtainium. I also found (one of) the parts place(s) that takes everything of value before cars get moved on to Zebra or Pick-a-Part... pay a little more but almost a guarantee of availability (they use that NZ wide parts database that us outsiders can't see). They had 3 parcel trays for me to choose from whereas Zebra et al. have had none in 9 North Island E87's in the last 6 months. They left a consignment slip under the rear seat of an E87 at Zebra with their contact details so I gave them a call, they said 'pop around, no problem'. Local too.

    Quick Questions

Hmm, that battery sounds good enough for at least one start... sure your starter is okay? I don't have any meaningful E30 knowledge but can you reach the starter with a dead blow hammer to give it a tap when you can hear the 'noid? I'm not suggesting the battery is not the culprit but I'd want to eliminate the starter before buying a new battery. Either way, when I did my research ~8 months ago these guys: https://www.mrpositive.co.nz/ had the best price by quite some margin for a Bosch S5.
  13. I chased a f'ing chicken for 20 mins, couldn't catch it! No teeth acquired. ?
  14. Finally got a rear parcel tray, that being absent was annoying me disproportionately. Everyone I called wanted $120-140 for one, picked up this mint one for $70 (which I still consider expensive but they seem to be like hen's teeth).
  15. All good. But don't be riding on those sweet 16's for too much longer bro! ? Even a set of 17x7.5's would be better that those... ? I can probably do a tyre combo for the 17's also.
  16. I didn't realise they were mutually exclusive, are the stamped ones not badged? I genuinely can't remember. These polished ones are not stamped.
  17. I have 4 x 7.5" polished style 24's surplus to need, would look mint on that 328. Would certainly look better than the style 30's you're rocking! ? What front splitter is that do you know?
  18. For those looking for a rear wiper motor: NZ$76 shipped - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1000006623345.html NZ$73 shipped - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000960809754.html
  19. Grab me the luggage compartment cover at the same time would you? ?
  20. Did the wheels get balanced when the new tyres went on? Also, do the reverse test if you can find the space, that will help eliminate a whole bunch of variables. If you're using assym tyres you can also swap the fronts left to right to eliminate balance or a damaged rim. Edit: assym tyres at the front will drag the car left or right depending on tread pattern because one tyre is always running "backwards". That also needs to be factored in. Doesn't matter at the rear.
  21. With toe out front and rear you will have lower straight line stability... the car will want to move off that straight. To confirm drift you'd probably want 0* toe front and rear and a dead flat surface. What happens when you reverse with the steering wheel strait, does it drift? Typically for a "sporty" setup you'd have a small amount of toe out at the front to aid turn in (whilst reducing directional stability) and some toe in at the rear to compensate for the drift induced by the front end.
  22. Yep, they'd fit but there would be no harm (and better circumference match) by going to 255's at the rear... any 'imbalance' that introduced would be right foot controlled. To be honest, if I'm getting on-the-limit understeer in my daily I'm probably driving it too hard. ? Would definitely like to drive yours and would of course reciprocate.
  23. Yes, I take tyre reviews with a grain of salt. I typically use them for the "what not to get" bit rather than the "this is the best" bit. Having said that, tyrereviews.co.uk seem legit and have a good YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEvB1bmKjPWZ3V1wSdBnXPQ). I did learn not to buy Nanking NS20's unless you like dying. ? And yes, the Pirellis are the bargain quality tyre of choice I would say. They're not for every application but are cheap, feel safe and last forever. Currently running 225/255 because I've whipped the wheels off the M3. The offset is slightly off but they look great in the arches. This is more tyre than I need in the 130 but it's an optimal combo (circumference wise). The 17's it rolled in on (and for which I still have good rubber) wore a 205/225 combo and whilst the front was sharp it's not enough tyre. I wondered if bumping it to 215/245 would be enough given the tyres will be better quality and I'll be upping the front camber (M3 arms and pin mod). Given the LSD, and the extra camber, 215/245 might be better than 225/255 is my current thinking... but then the options are more limited. And as I say, four Hankook S1's in 225/255 for $991 is hard to look past if they're not terrible.
  24. A 225/255 set of Hankook Ventus S1 Evos for $991 is looking real sharp and they review well. Anyone have any specific experience with the S1's?
