Close contact. Or, after today's announcement, if you're elderly or have an underlying health concern. Travellers are only one group of people that need to self isolate, and having done it once doesn't mean you won't have to do it again for a different, or even the same, reason. But I was only commenting on the driving generalisation, I have no information on the OP's specific circumstances.

I suspect FCP would easily do 60k into NZ based on the boxes I've seen at a few independents. They're "required" to register for GST but NZ can't enforce that because laws don't reach other shores. Government could pull the pin on the nuclear option at any time they wanted and 'return to sender' which would eventually dry up the supply or force compliance if the market was valuable enough.
-
There's nothing wrong with driving when self isolating, unless you're a bus driver of course. Although there may be little point.
-
That looks sweet. How long does it take to heat up to say, ~50*? And does it have a drip tray of some sort that you empty from time to time, or a drain plug?

Nice list of parts. GST is due for all goods now, including low value. It's meant to be collected at the point of sale. If it's not collected at the point of sale it's now highly unlikely that it will be intercepted for GST at the border unless it's also subject to duty collection (your parts are not).

Okay, charger is fine. The battery draining whilst connected to the the car is a different problem to it draining by itself. Don't connect it to anything for 24h then put the charger back on it. If it takes anything more than 5 mins for it to show full again (on the charger) the battery is stuffed. You should get a multimeter.
-
How many amps are you charging it with? Battery is probably dead, how many volt does it read when it's connected to nothing at all? Take 2 readings 24h apart without connecting it to anything. If the volts have reduced you need a new battery. But, if you need the car, I'd suggest the battery is dead anyway, I doubt a replacement is a bad investment.

Are they different to LCI bumpers? And they're not 130 specific either... you may need to adapt the "diffuser" for a double tipped exhaust that's all. There are heaps being wrecked on TM, are they all not available? Or are you looking for a specific colour that you can't find?

Android screen upgrade to 2009 E83 with original GPS
M3AN replied to agricon's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
The iDrive controller is a larger knob between the gear shifter and the armrest... how did you send commands to the original screen? It's highly unlikely anybody will take on a job like this to help you, the systems can be painful to diagnose. If somebody could help you could send quite a lot of money on that. The CCC will most likely be working just fine, the problem is almost certainly with the installation, configuration or condition of the Android unit. It would pay to make sure all connections are in the correct place and properly connected (i.e. not loose). The key bit to get rid of the "no signal" message is that the original cable(s) to the original screen are now connected to the Android unit. Are there installation instructions online? If so, post a link. But 'no signal' should NOT affect the operation of the Android side of the new unit, you need to find out how to get to Android, perhaps contact the vendor? in my unit I just touch the screen and it switches from CCC ('no signal' in your case) to full Android. -
Android screen upgrade to 2009 E83 with original GPS
M3AN replied to agricon's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Two different problems, any rear camera he does have is not working (and it wouldn't have come with one originally because it's non-iDrive so no screen). Second problem is no signal, it's not connected to the CCC or CIC system properly. -
Dead Battery - Tried charging battery but I hear a clicking nose.

Price check any options against these guys, I've found them to be very competitive. https://www.mrpositive.co.nz/automotive-batteries/- 12 replies

Android screen upgrade to 2009 E83 with original GPS
M3AN replied to agricon's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
The reversing screen you see is not from the original car, that's in the Android unit and it's not working, there's no picture, just the overlay (and the 'no signal' message is a giveaway). To be honest i don't know how these are meant to work if the vehicle didn't have iDrive, @Jacko may have an idea? -

The 'no signal' message is because the new unit can't connect to the main vehicle unit... did you plug the cable you removed from the original unit back into the new unit? You should be able to exit from the 'no signal' screen to Android by touching the screen or playing with the iDrive controller. Give Android a minute or so to boot before you try just to be safe. -
What's it worth? E36 M3 Evo rolling chassis and broken engine...
M3AN replied to M3AN's topic in General Discussion
I reckon $13-16k if running, spend another 10 and you've got a mint Evo. I'd swap the mph cluster for a kph one and wear the 400k as a badge of pride. -

Okay, sorry for the lethargy in replying, owner is now effectively stuck in the UK (dual citizen). He's going to hold onto it for the time being now. He sold his CSL and been able to put the broken M3 into proper storage whereas it he wasn't able to before (too many cars lol). I'm sure he'll change his mind again once or twice and I will pop back to this thread if he does. FYI he doesn't think he'd do it for 4k... he was thinking somewhere between 10 and 12k. I think it's probably somewhere in between but suggested that only the open market is likely to tell him the true value. -
Time capsule, probably the one to own if you have the $. And Alpine White will always hold strong appeal.

i need to take another look, I have Carly but didn't see a relevant option. It works in Sport (M) at the moment, just no D.
-
Yep, no gear number in D, which I would like. I've not checked the trans flash ID so I'm not sure although it does seem more aggressive than I recall the other ones I drove being. I'll plug it in on the weekend to see what I can find otherwise I'd probably have to drive a known-to-be-stock one back-to-back with mine.
-
Hmm, no but I can sell you a set of totally WoF-able tyres for $400. Paint me surprised if you get a lot of support for your dodge-a-warrant request... ? Tyres are probably your best bet, how old are yours? (edit: and size?)

Car detailing- anyone had experience with ceramic car coating?
M3AN replied to Goffy's topic in Appearance
4 or 5 years? ? Are you mad? You could put it in a time capsule and it might not last that long. It absolutely does look f'ing amazing when applied, better than a new car. That's why it sells. You're paying for 4 year "protection" and you're getting a max of 9 months, it's bollocks. Seriously, if it were that good it would already be on every surface we can see. Every window on every building would be coated with it, it would literally save hundreds of millions of dollars. Not so much, it's simply not magic, look it up. -
I'll check for the Alpine mark then... ?
