Can anyone point in the directon of a good E46 Compact buyers guide? Is there anything special to look for (i.e. unique to the Compact?) Also, is the 1900cc chain or belt driven? Thanks Crockett

Latest Ford KA or Mazda 2 would be my pick. I agree with the Focus comments too. Late model ones (esp. ex rental or ex lease) are popping up cheaply. If you get one in a nice colour and put some tastelful alloys on it, you've got something that not only drives well, but looks very sharp too. If you want a Euro, I would also look at the Merc A-Class. You might be able to find a new shape one in your budget. They are very well made, safe and easy to drive. Don't waste your time with a MK4 Golf - they are now getting more common than Corolla's and are just as bland. From experience I wouldn't touch a French auto either.

I know someone that could be keen. What exactly needs replacing? What condition is the interior in?

Does it need to be a BMW? If so, I'd vote for a E30 318is A Peugeot 205GTI / 306XSI could be a fun daily driver. I would also look at an Alfa. Get yourself a nice 33 QV and you could race it in the Trofeo series in the weekends!

Hi Brian Mine is for sale. Exactly what you are after - '96 328i M Coupe in Cosmos! Not in a mad rush to sell, hence it isn't on TradeMe. Check the showroom thread for pics etc...

True. Even though every one regards them as a hairdressers car, I would own a Mazda MX5. Bang for buck they are unbeatable. The most fun I have had in an under $10k car.

Does anyone know how long the CDMA network will be running for? Think I might just hold tight with my old Telecom phone and wait for 2degrees to enter the market.
-
Just checked out the Telecom website for the details of the new XT network and have to say I am quite disappointed... Telecom XT postpaid plans I was expecting something revolutionary in terms of pricing. It seems like there is some unwritten agreement between Telecom and Vodafone not to enter into a price war. Hopefully this might change when 2degrees is up and running. As I'm in the office all day, I only use my phone after hours and in the weekend. Maybe I'm a retard, but I can't see any nights and weekend calling plans on the Telecom site. Have they cut this completely in favour of overpriced anytime minutes? If so, it looks like I will be signing up to Vodafone... Your thoughts?

Oh, I'm embarrassed now... I thought he meant an S14 Nissan Silvia...

E36 cabs got a blasting lately for being the "gayest" BMW out there. I disagree and think there are much better contenders! Will be interesting to see how the results compare to the "worst BMW" poll (won by the E36 compact...)

Nice colour combo, higher kms but should be OK being NZ new. These are sensational value for money at the moment! Repocars listing

$1 Reserve trademe listing. Could be a bargain for someone with big balls!

Taser the muppets. It's same sandal wearing green party supporting idiots who turn up protest. How many of them would actually bike or walk over the bridge if you were legally able to? They are little more than bored no hopers who love "sticking it to the system" by getting amongst a protest.

Thanks for the info, sounds like a nice car. But kms are too high sadly.

I need a pair of these for my E36 coupe. Rubber is flaking and looks very ugly. If you end up buying some from overseas, I'd be keen to share the shipping cost.

If anyone is looking for a 330ci, look at this one. Had a nosey today for a mate of mine (who sadly has now decided would only look at a 4 door). This car is stunning - it is NZ new with full history and is one of the highest spec E46's I've seen. Spec included sunroof, PDC, elec memory seats, M sport wheel, auto lights, AND the very rare factory TV and factory cell phone. Apparently the wheels came with the ca new and are factory Msport items. WIth 64km it's pretty good buying at $28k. Has got me thinking very deeply about how I could organise my funds in a way to buy it...

Can anyone recommend a good BYO restaurant? End up going to Thai restaurants in Ponsonby every Saturday night... Need to find something different. In either the CBD, Parnell, Mt Eden, Kingsland or Ponsonby. Cheers for your help!

Nice. How much are you wanting for it? Kms? Other details?

Cab + towbar = real estate agent. They love fitting their stupid little flags to a tow bar (less likely to blow away than the old under the wheel flag. I wouldn't own an E36 cab, but a nice one driven by a hot girl gets me going! I can think of many "gayer" BMW's - E36 compact, Z3, Z4, X3, 1 series etc etc

Chill out Brian! I, like Mark, would hope that a BMW dealer (or any dealer) would know the difference between a 318i and a 2002. Went hunting for a new car with the old man today and shocked at some of the muppets franchise dealers are hiring - this includes BMW and Audi! Because of that, the lack of attention to detail in TradeMe listings doesn't surprise me.
-
Thanks for that. We search TradeMe frequently, but am after a heads up if anyone knows of one for sale that isn't on TradeMe. Or, if anyone on here has one they are thinking of selling.
-
Searching for a mate. Please let me know of any for sale that aren't listed on TradeMe.

Ah yes. Nice one! Too many Renaultsport variants. I waste too much time reading UK car mags where they rave about the R26. Not sure of the difference between the R26 and the RS225, maybe they just changed the name one year! See here.
