Project: Convert E46 HELLM3 into a S65/manual E46/E92 hybrid. Our approach will differ to the other more complicated ways of making things fit. We aim to not tamper with steering and suspension setup. Started with a donor E46 to use as a mockup with a cutoff wheel taken to a subframe. Engine /gearbox placement has been achieved quite nicely (great skills `HellBoy`) Engine mounts ,gearbox mounts,exhaust to be fabricated by Quest. To compensate for the extra height added by the E65 plenum we will fabricate an E92 M3 bonnet dome onto the E46 M3 bonnet. Pics will tell the story.

Dusted off and getting some road time. Treated to a MSS54HP DME upgrade for an extra 20hp approx. Aux. pump delete,burble pop,rev limit increase. LSD change ratio 3.15 to 3.46 better suited to the 6 speed. 150kg approx. lighter than a E46 M3 Time to renew my love affair.

If we go M5 I do have a spare S62. But then that is better suited to a E46 M3. Thanks for the suggestions guys, certainly plenty of food for thought. I`m inclined to go for the more modern motors rather than the old dinosaur powerplants. Mainly because we have a pretty good selection. Looking at S54,M54B30,N52B30 or N54B30

Very tidy NZ new well optioned manual 535ise with a hole punched thru the block. Considering a repower with M54B30 though still undecided.

Took a `03 316ti with a tired N42 and replaced with M54B25,manual conversion and brake upgrade. 95% of conversion done in a couple of days to create a fun to drive compact. Went so well that the motorsport kitted ti`s we have are going to be converted to M54B30 powered versions when time allows. Great interlude until the 2016 HELLBM main project gets underway.
