  3. Hmmmm - To name a few. Just picked up Henna E30 with 325 engine swap (turned into my racecar eventually). Let Gus drive - valve fell out of head and killed motor. Average. Driving back from A1GP on the backroads from Taupo - a hard 2nd to 3rd gearchange lunched the turbos gearbox. $1000 towing fee. Ouch Both incidents ended up improving the cars hah.
  4. There was so software update to account for NZ new DST time - so from the Forum Admin section time guidelines
  5. For E30s: Generally a complete engine - belts, alternators, oil, filters, wiring looms. E39 - A spare tyre.
  6. At first this may seem like scientific experiment but this is in fact BMW’s test mule for the upcoming BMW X1 that was confirmed by CEO, Norbert Reithofer, at a press conference late last week. Instead of building the X1 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where the X5 is made and where the X6 will be made, BMW will be moving production to its European plant. BMW has also confirmed a MINI SUV in the works which is expected to share platforms with the X1. Head over to WorldCarFans for the full shots.
  7. The fast kids over at Fast Lane Daily have scooped themselves some spy shots of the BMW M3 Sedan and Convertible having a casual hang out before they hit up the Nurburgring for some testing. The images come from a Fast Lane Daily reader who was vacationing near the Nurburgring. Both the M3 Sedan and Convertible are expected to be powered by the same 4.0 liter, V8 engine that produces 420hp in the Coupe. Head over to the Fast Lane Daily site for more shots and some great car news coverage. 8. BMW’s CEO, Norbert Reithofer, will be laying out his new strategy in mid-October with a new 10-year plan. Reithofer’s primary objective is sustainable, profitable growth. As BMW faces increasing competition from Audi, Lexus, Infiniti and Mercedes, along with strict CO2 regulations, the new strategy is expected to be more than just a five-year strategy. “It makes sense that every five to six years that we reconsider our strategy,” he told Automobilwoche in an interview. Reithofer says that he is open to joint ventures with rival auto makers in order reduce investment costs. BMW has previously said that it is considering partnering with rival DaimlerChrysler to build a small engine. According to Reithofer, BMW may also look into a new line of business such as selling engines and other components. Reithofer is expected to give a timeline on the development of the BMW X6 as well as hybrid plans based around the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid which it unveiled at Frankfurt.

    Diff????

I would argue that - sounds pretty average to me.
  10. Likewise - i've driven lots of E38s and the E39 is pretty much the same in terms of quiteness. I'd say it had wheel bearing and bushes problems.
  11. Head is at Hi Velocity - block is still AWOL. Hopefully will have something to say next week.
