  1. Well finally got the car back home last Monday since then have been able to tick a few items off the list. Bumpers, Skirts, colour PDC sensors, remove surplus wiring, reassemble interior trim, replace windscreen cover panel, wash and tidy up exterior of the car, trial fit the gear knob, make up some spacers to prevent the tail pipe melting the rear bumper also have a euro type front number plate holder to prepare and fit. Just need to build up the old piggy bank again then get the exhaust sorted, WOF inspection, Rego then the interior up grade. What she used to look like. Home covered in grime. New power plant New look The cover panel was split in a number Second hand M sport gear knob of places where it touches the windscreen M steering wheel from the 325 with the MFS functions from the 316

  3. If I may check the hose connections on the power steer reservoir and the "o"ring on the fill cap they flatten after time and leak. The res hoses work harden and the hose clips work lose I found on my 530i oil filter housing gaskets can course trouble.

  9. How to give a brand a bad name by association. How many willful damage law suits or pay back paint balling's followed what a punch of d*ck heads.
  10. Have a chat with Glenn he has a e36 ti with a m52b28 also go to 318ti.org and ready some of the engine swaps some of the America's have carried out on their rides. For some reason 1997 rings bells something to do with a change in the electronics OB1, OB2 can o be I think.
  11. Hi even if you are only going to keep the car for a year. Do the job once and properly plus take pride in that you did the job and that the car is in good shape then sell it with a clear conscience. It is a lot of money yes but to have that nagging thought should I have, could I have would drive me nuts! how about you?. my 2 cents
  12. What about the poor hair or was it road pizza
  13. Hi Jason, Tread carefully have been through this when I overhauled the front, rear suspension on the 530i. Make sure of the quality of the items warranty returns etc.Pay a little extra for a good known brand with peace of mind and it's not going to stuff out after 12 months and the warranty ran out the day before.

  15. Arr Auckland always has good weather doesn't it???
  16. A nice warm day about 25 degrees odd helps a lot : As Tom as said use your wife's hair dryer gives you better control over warming up the affected area. Better still if it has more than one heat setting use the highest heat with the lowest speed and go for it.That is what has worked for me in the past just keep an eye on it and test it out periodically. Best of luck let us know how you get on with it.

  20. No sure if this has been up before but give it a go. http://wot.motortrend.com/caught-2014-bmw-.../#axzz2OIXHSPbn http://www.f30driver.com/bmw-f30-photos/29...Series-No-Camo/ And these on a seven series http://www.bimmerfest.com/bmw-photos/95/20...ries-G11-Spied/
  21. That is interesting as I have opened e39 2002 facelift headlights by using the heat method it's a bit messy. Caution have struck a pair from a 2000 that somebody had replaced the sealant material with something else and it was a no go. The link Allanw has posted would be your next best option if you don't wish to try the bake method. Arma, yours maybe the tilt motor connection has come adrift or broken not hard to have a look at.
  22. Their is a write up on how to do the replacement it is not hard just takes time unless you have a couple of hundred dollars spare to get them done for you?. Being a 2002 it will be a facelift model and these are sealed which needs to be heated to soften the sealing compound plus remove some screws then the front cover can be removed and access gained to the adjusters.

    e39 Oil Leak

This could be a number of items as stated cam cover gasket, oil filter mounting gasket how many k's has it done?. When they had the trans out did they replace the rear crankshaft seal as I have seen a couple of these leaking at 100,000k the oil drip's out the back of the motor bottom of the bell housing. Look at the sump right front, rear corners. Getting quoted $500 + GSt to fix an oil leak is not a small amount in my opinion. Also other areas to look but not necessary coursing the trouble the hoses on the power steering reservoir these are held on with hose clamps and can work loose plus the cap it has a rubber "o" ring and people tighten them to tight and it flattens the ring. As for the coolant leak get back in touch with Glenn happy hunting and let us know the out come.
