Hi from your rego GAN290 found chassis WBANA72040B788579, rego japan 2004, assembled april 2004 e60 Sedan 530i M54. If you go to bmw fans site and entry B788579 hit browse parts you will be able to get the part numbers for the bits you need and from that get some idea of the cost. The prices on the site are way out of date but looking at some of them it might cost a few $$$ to replace the items you have listed plus any others that might need replacing that have been missed. Hope it is of some help and good luck with the repair.

Throw a tank full of 98 at it and if anything like my old 530 will give you even more.

On a different note what is with the sower or smile face look on the modern car pugs a grin to escape from. Josh's photos of the X4 the Tiquan smile no offense meant to anyone but really what are these car designer's thinking or not?.

Thanks for that Mark, Kelvin was aware that the early smg gave trouble and $$$$$ to fix.

Is this any help a n42 engine. Had to reduce it can you see the black and red arrows. From memory I put a socket on the nut, black arrow and removed the belt tension. Then with a nail or allen key slid it in the hole, red arrow when the two holes aligned.

One of those personal choice things. For me to expensive about 6 to 6 half it is 14,15 years old and k's in the area when things start to brake or fail. The exterior colour, interior combo, e30, e34 type wheels just don't do it for me. GL51076 NZ Rego 13 Jan 1999 Assembled October 98

Thanks for the link at $105 odd landed a bit rich for me will keep looking. -
You are wise in getting it to a mechanic if nothing is obvious. It could be a number of things water pump fault, thermostat jammed shut, sensor in the bottom hose faulty, air bubble in the system moved let your mechanic check it out and save you a whole lot of stress.

As Brent has mentioned see Darren at NZAD I used on of those units with the engine swap cost around $1,000 to 11 hundred. The one from the states may not be any cheaper by the time you get it in your hands should you get hit with GST and freight costs. Which I would check on with a magnifying glass, bad experience with freight costs from the states lately.

EPP 987 issued in 2008 BZF when first rego NZ CE63709 Assembled Feb 20001 Rego Japan April 2001 Rego NZ 22 April 2004 Would be a good buy at $5 to $6,000. Need to have it checked over or a few $$$ tucked away for those maintenance items.

That's not bad just wire brush them up and pop them back in another 90k . Is a set of plugs any cheaper than the o2 sensors chuckle chuckle. Sorry just having fun hope it is a simple set of plugs to be replaced and all good for another few thousand k's. Another BMW bring money with a friend was heard to remark!.

From reading this is sounds like the customer is a Guinea pig and bm sorts out the problems with each new model that showed from the previous one (hopefully). Why do they not do something about the weak cooling systems and transmissions they have not only in this model but just about every model I've come across??.
