I would seriously prefer this over any M3 I wish I lived in South Africa! Cheap! $5000 333i

Will they rent it to anyone? Or only over 21s? I might have to get my parents to come with me.

Hi Guys, My e30 ('88 318i) needs a new cambelt (as the last one was done 8 years ago - yikes) and I have been quoted approx $480 from JCBMW and around $700 from the local Garage (Nissan dealer - but does alot of Peugeots + VWs too). I was just wondering, how much should one of these (of course replacing waterpump and those bits at the same time) cost? Should I expect around $550? Any recommendations on places to go or advice would be great - I just need a half-decent courtesy car (I don't mind paying). Cheers, Eddy

My God are you serious? I'm sure the conversion would definately devalue it a bit. Hardly original if someone's chopped it up in some garage.

According to those numbers my car has 3 sets of alloy wheels? Japan - the number plate holder at the front is too small for the NZ number plate, and the speedo fuel economy gauge has km/l instead of l/100km.

But bavarian spares does.

Facelifts can have BOTH the L shaped and the round shifter knobs. Yes, both. The main difference is the heater control panel. If pre facelift, the heater control will be knobs that you physically turn, while all facelifts tend to have the digital heater control with buttons you push and a nice display that's usually prone to failure.

I'd love to see the old rich guy's face who owned it from new!
-
I'd honestly have that rather than a M3.

Bloody OpenAir charged us $13 at Pauanui, and the Club lent them the land for FREE to provide an event.

I used the old ones. It doesn't really matter, unless they're really brittle and crumbly.

Why is everyone obsessed with this 'tinting' (why not just call in blackening, as you hardly 'tint' them, you colour them entirely) of tail-lights? Yes, I can understand making your amber e30 indicators red, but tinting it all the tail-light black? Why? Especially on an e36 - nothing looks worse than an all black tail-light. My 2 cents.

Check out this Mercedes ad: Very funny

I have an Aunty that used to work for Porsche in Stuttgart, and she was telling me how much the very top Porsche mechanics get paid over there - it was something in the vicinity of 60,000 - 75,000 Euros + benefits including company car (Porsche of course). That's about NZ$130K per year, which is more than a lot of Doctors in NZ! But remember, these people were working on Europe's billionaire's 911 GT2s etc.

Compared to normal Autos. Alfa developed Selespeed, but Fiat use it on a lot of their new cars (And rip you off by making a lot of the options exclusive to the Selespeed model). I looked at an '04 Fiat Stilo Abarth, it went like the clappers but I decided against it when I couldn't get it to change into 3rd, and when I almost rolled back into the car behind me at an intersection! :S

My car's assemble date is 12/1987 (the first of the facelifts) and it wasn't registered until 08/1988. But I think it may have been a tourist delivery car, which would explain the large gap in between assembly and registration.

The SMG shift quality is crap even in brand new M5s! The dealers say it's not a problem, just a characteristic of the gearbox. SMGs suck though, just like Fiat's lovely Selespeed. Why would it appeal to someone when it's supposedly as easy to drive as an auto, but the car rolls backwards at steep intersections, just like a manual?

Whats with the new plate? Has it been de-reg'd? Is it an import (Jap plate holder instead of large Euro one?), but you say NZ New? Cheers

While in Australia I saw my second 325e (the first being in San Fransisco). The Aus and US versions look completly different, with the Austalian car having Euro bumpers (like in NZ) and the US version having diving board bumpers and foglights that seemed to be suspended from the bumper.

Something like this happened at my High School a few years ago, and the result was exactly like is said. Scenario: Mark, a college student, brings cigarettes to school . 1977 - Mark shares a smoke with the school principal out on the smoking area. 2007 - Police are called and Mark is expelled from School for drug possession. His car is searched for drugs and weapons. Also, the police bought sniffer dogs through the entire school, and the BOT passed a policy of making random drug testing allowed if requested by the Principal. And this from a Decile 7 state school!

Is there something wrong with the car, or is the seller just being a bastard? Being a little more specific would help.
