    Haha - Not just me!
  2. All stock is probably fine, from what you said earlier. It's certainly easier
  3. Put it on trade me, and offer to swap it for a standard setup. Someone will swap it all over for you. Then buy a new air filter element and you're back to standard.
  4. Better update your sig. Be aware that the LED may strobe when the LCM checks the bulbs. My LEDs on the E39 angel eyes did (I've fitted a relay for the moment to diconnect them from the circuit when not switched on) Tail and brake lights can trigger warnings if they are old too - the filiments become high resistance and trigger the warnings - justhad it on the E39.
  5. Most of the time, people fit them fr the noise. There's not usually any other benefits anyway.

    The GC Show

Well said! This show (which I HAVEN'T seen), is another reason we don't have TV at home.
  7. If you're up this way, you could try our manual - it's great. While the 525i is never going to me a rocket ship, it's quite impressive (with the rebuilt Vanos anyway).
  8. Please tell us you didn't take photos though

The tracking numbers are usually a joke too! You can cancel the remaining parts if you want. I've had that happen a few times, have two shipments coming right now too :-)
  10. Yeah, but you know they're doing it wrong. They always do I wash, she vacuums!

    Nice RX8!
  12. Manual conversion time
  13. Great job! It's an impressive difference it makes! Bummer about the going wrong... I HATE when that happens, you have a plan all sorted, and one tiny stupide thing screws you up! Our signs were more obvious when cold, because our car is manual. I think hte auto masks a lot of the symptoms. My wife didn't notice the driving up hill part... she just goes faster now! I find we have enough torque now to drive everywhere under 3K, unless you're in a hurry :-) Nice write up! Cheers,
  14. Looks like the engine is out of it - Or is it just got a trolley jack under the front?
  15. Vanos seals, Manual conversion The E36 M3 engine isn't so different to an M54 either.
  16. I could be wrong... but I think you can clean the contacts on the heat fuse on the resistor pack and they will often go again. Plus clean all the crud out, so it doesn't get hot again.
  17. I get 2 hours of sleep during those hours, for a start! Two year old takes up the rest Not much time for car stuff.
  18. Doesn't one fuse do the tail AND front park light on one side??? Maybe? Could be at the front. Also worth trying with the lamp holder removed to see if it's the assembly, or the wiring.
  19. Yeah, I get that... but $16K for a rough one?
  20. A 530i is going to be a better long term proposition from a repair point of view. Probably a sportier drive too, less luxo-barge. A 530i with manual conversion would be a good move! Our manual 525i goes stupidly well for a baby E39 (especially after the vanos seals were done). Super flexible, pulls really well at anything above 1500 rpm. If I ever cook the engine, I'd seriously look at a 3.0 conversion..... Maybe I shouldn't maintain the cooling system!
  21. You'd think when trying to get top dollar for a car, people would put on more than 2 half-arsed blurry photos. There's a 63 VW Beetle someone wants 15K for and all the pics are blurry. They are also taken at night. Outside, in the rain. I guess being a factory manual helps... but maybe not that much. I'd have paid that for it if it was at 120kms and a tidy facelift... but that's still over $9K more than our manual 525i was.
  22. HAHA! Awesome post! Not so good for you though. It was pretty cold today. Had to wear a sweater while riding miniature trains with the boy I noticed my thermostat housing is dribbling
  23. Mmmmmmmm Sparkly! Looks nice - Way better with the lip on the outside too!
  24. My mate painted his Montreal Blue to match the car, except the gear lever surround, which is Black I think. Looks quite nice and ties the inside and outside together. If you wanted to paint it silver, Hammerite smooth spray cans are a nice silver colour, but leave t to dry for a week or two to harden properly.
