All very confusing. When I originally got the codes scanned after the replacement seat had been put in the fault code for the lit airbag warning said incorrect control module - which I interpreted to be the missing steering column adjustment wiring in the replacement seat. Tom (M3_Power) very kindly offered to see if he could recode this weekend just gone and after playing around with a while cleared all the old faults and found that the airbag fault registering now relates to a faulty seatbelt tensioner on the driver's side. A much easier fix admittedly which is a relief with the warrant due soon but still want to sort the steering column adjustment. Anyway, just wanted to say a big thanks to Tom for putting aside a bit of his weekend to help out.

BMW Interior soft coating - Nextel Mankiewicz

I know a guy who does leather and vinyl repairs... He's been giving me advice for recolouring my leather interior. Pretty certain he does plastic and rubberised dash and internal component repair so I'll find out what he uses. -
Yep, it's been on my watchlist for ages on the off chance some $$$s show up mysteriously in my bank account. I must be a gentleman because I dig the interior. Needs a fair bit of work but would be a great fun project... Just not sure it's worth the divorce that would come with it if I bought it.

It's okay, I was kidding... I just know what fishermen (because I am one!) are like when it comes to tall tails!EDIT: Who am I kidding? From one fisherman to another it was just total jealousy because you got out on the water and I didn't!

Very nice.

This from Tom (M3_Power). My car's a 1996 so only OBD I in the engine bay. Josh, is something you might be able to help out with? Thanks in advance.

Happy birthday, Brent!

They're good looking cars and great to drive. Wheels look better in the flesh, but I'll try and take some better pics soon to show it off.

Cheers, but still need to recode to accept the replacement seat or the airbag light comes straight back on as soon as the car does it's usual checks.

Unfortunately not if you bought outside TM. I made a similar mistake with an eBay seller. The only thing you can do (which I have tirelessly done with the f*cker that ripped me off) is harass them with daily emails. I've been requesting a refund for the best part of a year that I know I'm never going to get, but just knowing that my email probably p*ss the guy off is enough for me!!

Thanks Tom. Don't want to do anything illegal, just want the car to think it's got the right driver's seat in there for a little while!

Your arm looks pretty big, Glenn, sure you're not holding a tiddler up close to the camera?

Reviving this post because I need a short term recode fix. My E39 currently has a replacement driver's seat while I repair lumbar and restore the leather on the original. Unfortunately the backup seat doesn't have the steering column adjustment module so the dash airbag light's permanently on and there's a module fault code (can't remember the exact code). Got a WOF due in about a month and don't think I'll be able to (afford to) get the original seat back in by then. Is anyone in Auckland able to recode the OBC so it recognises the replacement seat? I presume I'll then need to recode again when the original seat's back in. Help appreciated.

Haha! The middle seat is for putting your arm on not your children, I think. I put one of these in mine to keep toes safe from broken cup holders:

Nice, but they're so small. What I love about the E39 M5 is that it's not only insanely fast but it's big and luxurious to boot!

Busy day... Wash and wax, took a bit of metal polish to the lips on my RSIIs, removed the headlight eyebrows (which I was never a big fan of) and fitted freshly painted (to match the car) PFL grille surrounds and lower eyelids (which have a 'factory' look that the upper ones don't IMHO). Really happy with the exterior of the car now - though would still love to get the driver's door properly repainted and some sort of front bumper lip (either the ACS or Strassentech but they're a bit pricey). Sorry about the crap phone pic.

Thanks. Picked up a set at Supercheap... Now just need to take the plunge, preferably with the help of someone who knows what they're doing!

Beautiful car. Very jealous. Not a huge fan of the wheels though but hey, I wouldn't care if I owned and 850! -
Wow, I've been looking for one with 2 keys and an empty boot for ages. Looks like my luck's in.

Ooops, sorry, I should have read the whole thing! I get a few bits and pieces from eBay - generally haven't had too many problems with used or new OE parts - it's just knock offs that can be dicey in my experience.

Try Ray, Brent, etc on here, if that fails, try flea bay. Here's a FL one for under BZ$200 inc shipping - Visit My Website Or a PFL one for just over NZ$100 inc shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-5-SERIES-E39-C...696&vxp=mtr

Asking price for this V12 e38, steep?
jeffbebe replied to tobytoblerone's topic in TradeMe discussions
True but the fur seat covers suggest it might have been driven by someone who doesn't drive far or much! Not sure I like the M6 wheels on it, but you could probably sell those for $1.5K with the tyres.
