  1. Those are the wheels you need for it. Perfection.
  2. Have seen a few examples of rusty M5's from the UK.... If I was importing one from the UK, I would definitley be asking the owner to have the lower sill covering panels removed...
  3. All these pics of csi kits may tempt Jooles in to obtaining his own crime scene investigation kit!
  4. Some things not right with s62 if it feels 'laggy' they should make bucket loads of torque from 1800rpm onwards. Pretty cool project though. I suspect the nissan gbox was used because they're cheap, and handle big power.
  5. Engine and or Trans problems i'd say at this unbelievable price.
  6. With a good chance it may have rust the owner is not even aware of. It hides in the lower sills, under the plastic covers and jacking points.
  7. Love this colour http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-762623845.htm
  8. Not sure about the e31, but with wide tyres on an e39 they will rub against the inner guards if in fool droop position. Possibly not a good idea also if there is a decent amount of angular force on the cv joints whilst spinning up on axle stands.
  9. Hoping these will last a while... not cheap.
  10. Got some new shoes for the M5... A full set of brand-new Michelin Pilot Super Sports
  11. Valley pan plates also weep coolant out. Good idea to get a new one while the inlet mani is off. They can be a pig as they tend to start weeping soon after. Oil leaks, coolant leaks, torque converter failure and timing chain guides are common issues on the m62tu. Once you over come those you have a very reliable and sweet car!
  12. Some of those symptoms sound like Torque converter issues - The bogging down in 4th/5th part, shudder and vibrations. You can usually hear a muffled grinding sound also.
  13. Carbon clogged up cats, with a few cells damaged :
  14. I havnt been able to drive it much but on the dyno should be a good test.
  15. Had the clogged catalytic converters removed yesterday and replaced with mandrel bent pipes. Car is now twice as loud. Some stock rear scuba tank mufflers are going back in once I source some heat shields for them.
  16. After a pair of these. Don't mind if they're a bit bent as long as they can be re-straightened.
  17. Pretty easy access to the throttle body gasket but a manifold off job to get all the intake port gaskets sealing. A smoke tester will be your best bet for checking if indeed you have a vac. Leak.
  18. Modern engines also have a lot of sensors to keep them running optimally. For the sake of testing mechanical wear on an engine after 100+ thousand kms it would be ideal to dyno the car in the same conditions as when it was dyno'd with lower kms. i.e same inlet air and coolant temps, on top of replacing Sensors that have become faulty since the previous dyno run.
  19. Be prepared to correct some rangi mods on that example... That's the PO of my M5 selling his 540i...

  21. Michelin pilot SUPER sports Jooles. The crem da la crem of street tyres Might be keen on the fog light delete panels.
  22. From what I recall reading in the owners handbook of my old vanos 540i, 5w40 is best suited for our climate. The po has a pre-vanos m62 so the oil grade might be different.
  23. Page 9 maybe ? http://twrite.org/shogunnew/files/fontes/TopEnd_Refurbish.pdf
