  1. I've been pretty lucky so far. Got pulled over in Orewa region for speeding - plates were not mentioned by the officer. Few days ago I got pulled over in the city (Symonds st) for no reason (cop said 'random license check'), he let me off after his check with no mention of plates there either.
  2. Welcome! Assuming your new baby is the 330ci? Got any pics?
  3. What was involved in fixing this?
  4. Is this with the engine running? If yes, are you 100% the rattling is coming from the ICV? And not from the disa valve or anything?
  5. Imo best to get one with the composite impeller (or metallic). Not sure if the e46's use the same waterpump, but for e39s BMW moved from plastic to composite ones, which don't break as easy. I did a waterpump replacement on the e39 not too long ago (just some preventive maintenance) - it already had a composite impeller in it, but I replaced with a waterpump that has a metal impeller. Don't see any reason to get a plastic one again.
  6. Awesome. That e34 looks sweet
  7. How much for the 6CD changer (if it has one) and is it the same ones as the later models? i.e. would it work with my car? (think the motor one my one just died)
  8. Haven't gotten pulled over for them... yet. Got a speeding ticket couple weeks ago up near Orewa but the officer said nothing about the plates.

For anyone still interested in buying this one (it's still on trademe, price lowered from 14900 to 13900). Here are some service history notes from the last two services; I've listed all the recommended repairs from BM Workshop that had no matching invoice/receipts (i.e. assuming worst case scenario that it was possibly not carried out) based on the docs I received: October 2012 Service Thermostat reading faulty reading Oil leak starting from cam covers, timing cover and sump area Guard extensions covers broken Boot lock requires further investigation, works from inside car. - Owner's explanation: Apparently working perfectly now. July 2013 Service Waterpump has excessive play but not leaking yet - recommended replacement before failure Passenger seat mat faulty = $550.00 + gst : Owner's explanation for not repairing this "Found Passenger Mat Faulty – No problem at all, air bag light appear for a few minutes and disappeared. Computer is just checking the airbag during the time." Rear sway bar links worn = Slight knocking = $260.00 + gst Drive shaft donut cracking = $450.00 + gst Can covers weeping oil Headlight adjusters broken P/s hoses damp Coolant stains in valley cover area at rear of engine Coolant stains around expansion tank = original Due for coolant flush intensive washer tank leaking
  10. Yeah I heard him mentioning that and I almost spat out my drink.
  11. Here's a massive spam of the photos. Excuse the initials, had it set up on Adobe lightroom and didn't realize til after resize.. and can't be bothered rendering all again. If you want me to send you any of the pics without, just lemme know, easy peasy. Had a great time, met some new folks and heard some loud noises.
  12. Great photos. Should we all use this thread to post our photos up? (instead of multiple threads)
  13. Welcome Stu. Fantastic car! Looks good in Alpine White.
  14. Sweet, looks in good condition too. More pics
  15. Very nice Martin, really liking that song! Seems like we have a few music enthusiasts here; I'm a producer myself. Time for a massive collab
  16. Looking real nice man.
  17. Selling my Alpine White e39 530i M-Sport here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/46281-eoi-2001-bmw-530i-m-sport/ . Decent price for forum members.

  18. Yup, about 20 mins ago. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=647020404&ed=true
  19. That sounds pretty decent. Do the 'sad clown' steering wheels have thinner grip? Or feel drastically different?
  20. Normally I would let you have it. But in this case still not sure on whether I'll be 100% selling yet so not really wanting to swap parts out for now, sorry mate! Are those steering wheels hard to come by? Just one eye at the moment
  21. Note: This is more of an expression of interest (EOI) to see who might be interested. So I've got my eyes on something at the moment and the missus insists that I sell this car before getting any more. Also, running out of garage space so I guess her argument is understandable. I'm not in any rush, but if a good offer presents itself then I may be interested. I am looking to sell my Alpine White 2001 530i M-Sport. Odometer just hit 104000kms and it is in great condition. I purchased it at 96000kms few months ago and since then have spent over $3000 in preventative maintenance: 97000 kms - Rattling Disa valve replaced 97000 kms - Faulty exhaust camshaft position sensor replaced 97000 kms - New induction hose located next to Disa valve installed (old one kind of tore when replacing disa valve) 98000 kms - Rear sway bar links replaced (new links installed) 98000 kms - Broken rear sway bar brackets replaced (1 new bracket, 1 used bracket installed) 100300 kms - Engine oil and filter changed - EXCELLIUM 5w30 100300 kms - Thermostat replaced with brand new OEM Thermostat 100300 kms - Water pump replaced with brand new GRAF Water pump (with Metal Impeller) 100300 kms - Upper radiator hose replaced with brand new one 100300 kms - Handbrake shoes and disc rotors deglazed 100300 kms - Handbrake shoes adjusted 100300 kms - Handbrake cables adjusted 102000 kms - rear bumper re-aligned and re-sprayed: scratch-less now! Future maintenance: Small power steering leak from the hose under the reservoir. I have a brand new replacement hose for this + O-ring for the reservoir. It is probably about 1 hours labour to replace it, just haven't gotten round to it. I will also include a brand new OEM flex disc / guibo for the driveshaft which is known to split/crack in e39s. Mine is still in decent working condition but I purchased a brand new one for future maintenance. Again no rush, but if anyone is interested feel free to PM me or reply to this thread. Viewing would be in the city. This is a very good example of an e39 and people I know can attest to the fact that I take good care of her! Pricewise, on tardme I'll be looking for $12800, but I'm happy to do ~$11500 for bimmersport members. Tradme: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=647020404&ed=true If it doesn't sell, I'll just keep this and take my eyes off the other thing . Still pretty reluctant to sell though.. I may withdraw this listing soon if there is not much interest / my circumstances change. Will put more photos up shortly:
  22. I might go check this out soon. Since it's pretty high mileage, anything in particular I should be checking for (other than checking the bonnet etc. repair was done correctly as advised by Josh)? Do these engines require that big timing chain rail guides job as well? I'll just list the things the owner has said been done recently, and by previous owners: Major items replaced/repaired over the past 23k km (should now be well till ~200k+ km) New front discs & pads all round New struts/shocks all round New front lower joints New drivers side headlamp (water ingress) New cam cover gasket New power steering hoses New driveshaft coupling Vanos – left bank (solenoids replaced & wire connections repaired) Major service items pre my time New clutch & roller bearing (126k) New power steering pump (146k) New thermostat & housing New rear discs (96k) New vanos (right bank & under warranty) All other minor & medium servicing as per full service history
  23. Best to call one of them up. I've always taken my car to Glenn. Glenn and Ray both know their stuff so have a chat with them.
