  1. Nice. Welcome back to the BMW. Looking forward to seeing pics.
  2. I can relate to the night shifts. So quiet. At least I get to troll through all the forums reading all can can on BMW's. 3:20am. Nice to see I'm not the only one awake and at work at this time of the morning.
  3. The anticipation is killing me. Really want to see this with color on it. I can only imagine how impatient your feeling.
  4. Nothing like buying a car sight unseen and then going to pick it up.. Good score on your part. Engine bay looks mint now. Thos seats though. Looks like they haven't been cleaned in about ever...lol
  5. Heck mate. Thats a real score. I'll be waiting for the project thread. Thats a hell of a drive. Christchurch to Northland. At least theres not going to be any trailers involved..lol
  6. I've gotta say I like the look of the BBS's on the 740i so I might just leave them there. Unless I sell the car which is also a possibility at the moment in which case I'll do the swap and get another set of rims later. For me I think the choice is narrowed down to the M6 rims or some Alpina Softlines. Given the price of genuine Alpinas and the fact that many guys in 740's with Alpina replicas complain of them bending out of shape when introduced to potholes(extra weight of the 750i) I might just look for those M6 rims.
  7. lol, Great story. Personally I like the stance of the 325i. Looks just right. So which one is the wife getting????
  8. Thats what they have on their books as recommended value. I insured it for 10k I might wait a couple of years before I go down that road..Or ff it as the case my be..lol If you have some nice wheels to swap I'd be interested... ha ha Your meaning between the 740 and 750? It's on the cards. I've been seriously thinking about it while at the same time keeping my eys open for another set. Possibly M6 rims. they look good and have the same offset. M6 rims, Alpinas or swap.
  9. I can now legally drive my car. WOF and REG today. Wooo Hooo. Interesting that when I went to insure it they didn't have it listed on their books so the person serving me had to ring someone in Auckland. Took a while but they came back with a recommended insurance value of 12-17k and called it a special interest vehicle. My 740i has a recommended value of 2500 to 3500.

    Quick rant thread.

I've used rain-x for years. Great stuff. Started using it in the visor of my helmet. It stopped fogging on the inside and the rain just peeled off the outside. Started using it on my cars and like Graham said, you barely have to use the wipers. Used it to daw a <==B on my work mates windscreen at work so he'd come out every morning and there would be condensation all over the car except for right in the drivers view where there was a huge penis and balls. He thought someone was drawing it on every morning till he started night shifts and there it was in the work car park as well. It lasted for months.. Even frost wouldn't settle on it. Really funny thing was he recently traded that car in so I confessed to him that it was me. His wife thought it was hilarious cause he had ranted and raved at home about the as-hole who was drawing it on every morning.. THen we had a good chuckle about the poor car yard owner who'd be greeted at work every morning by the sight of a huge penis on the windscreen of one of the car in his lot..
  11. Welcome to the forum. Your car is stunning. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of it on here.
  12. Luv the sound track. And that you can hear it long after it's cone from sight. Very cool.
  13. Cheers guys. Conidering it just ticked over 246k it runs sweet. Doesn't miss a beat. Other than the steering angle sensor it had no other codes come up. Still in a bit of disbelief about how lucky I've been with this considering I bought it without viewing and it was sold to me as a non runner.
  14. Hours and hours of digging and frustration. When I get onto something like this I'm a bit like a dog with a bone. I really wanted to know and I'm glad I stuck with it. Your right. 1669 isn't a lot of cars over 3 years of production. When I have the time I might have a go at working out the pre facelift numbers. I want to go even further with it and see if I can find out from BMW NZ how many were brought into NZ. I'm guessing with only 112 RHD cars made it's not going to be many.
  15. Took the car for a 45 min drive to Palmerston North today and went to Lee European motors. Great guys and friendly service. I cant say enough about how much I enjoy driving this car. I always luved my 740i but this is on a whole other level. It's effortless to drive and doesn't even notice the hills. Anyway. I now have no DSC light on. Took them 15 mins to reset the steering angle sensor for me. Next job will be to pull the instrument cluster and fix the pixels.
  16. Talking to someone on another forum last night and he let me know that the other plants were building different models. One was building the 3 series and another the 5 series an so on. Dingolfing was the dedicated 7 series plant. Yayy Also worked out that the GG02 build code stands for RHD. GG01 is for LHD. Knowing that we were able to figure out how many facelift 750i's were actually built. GG01(LHD) DD9300-DD94557 GG02(RHD) DA6300-DA63112 Grand total of facelift 750i's was 1669. And as a side note I've been blacklisted from http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html for flooding...lmao
  17. I was reading a bit more about how the vins break down and learned that the D in my vin is for the plant it was built at. In this caes Dingolfing. So all I need to do now is get the vins from 4 other plants.. ha ha. Hens teeth would be easier.
  18. Ok, So I decided to do it this way. I went to http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html Thanks Francois. Using my vin as a base I worked back till I got to DA63000 built in 28/8/98 so this was the first facelift 750i. Then I went forward till I got to DA63112 which has a build date of 8/6/01. The last built. So A grand total of 112 facelift 750i's.

    Quick rant thread.

Spark telecomunications who when I ring them to say I'm only getting 0.27mbps tell me that they are delivering 7.5mbps to my modem. After more descusion they say that the exchange is too old and is being overloaded by the ammount of users. I tell them I live in the country and theres no more users now than there was before. And that if all my 5 neighbours who run through that exchange were all using our internet at the same time I should still get a better download speed than 0.27mbps. Here comes the good bit. The mother F*&^&*% tells me that I shouldn't use my internet during thier peak hours. So anytime before 3pm and after 11pm is ok.. WHAT THE F*&K.
  20. The production code is GG02 but even with that I'm not having any luck finding build numbers.
  21. Thanks Francis. Theres a lot of info there but still no production numbers. Unless I'm not looking right and thats definitely a possibility.
  22. Yup, nothing like a warm night with a glass of Black Jack Daniels, listing to some Billy Joel, taking off the blue jeans and topping it off with a bit of a BJ. What? Beef Jerky. Get ya mind out of the gutter.
  23. Does anyone know of a resource(not Wikipedia) for looking up production numbers of BMW's by year and model? I've spent hours searching the web with no luck. I've found total numbers of a particular model built. But I'd like to be able to break that down to ideally yearly build numbers or at the very least pre and facelift models. Like how many 95-98 E38's were built and how many 98-01 facelifts but also to be able to break that down further into models such as 728i 730i and il and so on right up to the 750i and 750il. This is the type of information I've found so far. For example the total build numbers for the E30.
