  1. Do they get "low-ball" 20k offers very often? I suspect no. I still maintain the market for $20k and up non-M3 E30s comprises a handful of people and will be volatile. Being a "collectible" classic is no guarantee of rising values by the way. Porsche 911s (the proper pre-89 ones) have had their values savaged in the last few years.
  2. I haven't driven an E36 one but I understand they're a bit agricultural. The bigger issue is they aren't exactly known for being reliable and any ///M part is expensive to replace.
  3. It is a pretty good price - awesome colour. The SMG may put people off.
  4. Well I'm just back from getting my 2nd set (I need 6 for a race car, not simply being greedy) - extremely happy with the product, price and service from the team at Mag and Tyre Direct :D If I ever finish the car I'll provide pics.
  5. Stefan Roser, Ruf Yellowbird CTR and the video is called Fazcination (I think).
  6. OMG. He'll be on cross-plies which contributes a bit (so I am told) and feels very controllable (apparently), but there's so little room for error on a SWB porker...
  7. I'd expect there is a solid risk of big bills, but you might get lucky. I really like them as well, but decided I was fooling myself if I thought it would be reliable and cheap to run (even compared to the M3).
  8. Sorry for continuing to scuzz up your wheel refurb thread (And quote pictures) with off-topic nathan but I gotta. This post is pure wheel whore. Look at it - 60 words and two pictures ABOUT FAT VS THIN VALVES. Awesome.

  10. The key part of this is "with basic modifications" --> the rules (and, by implication, safety) are fine with you from entering most clubsport and race events with the car as-is (no rollbar, standard seats and belts), ie its easy for you to compete in events, just not the way you want to. Right or wrong, MSNZ (probably LTNZ) has decided that modern cars' occupant safety is a package and its either all in or all out (and in the latter case, leads to an authority card).
  11. I'd say "which one" but I already know from keeping an eye on it you could mean any of E30, E36 or E46.
  12. Good stuff Suggest you do this with something that will survive the painting or polishing precedures to come.
  13. Choice. Any recent pics? Any idea of the space behind the spokes and/or the backspace?

    Silicon? Works for me.

    Boosting 318i

Welding the wastegate shut is easy - welding up an entire exhaust manifold and dumppipe is the hard bit. If you can DIY, all good. If you're paying someone else, it'd be cheaper to work something out with the internal wastegate (if that makes sense - less hours to pay for to make a manifold for an internal than an external). I guess its cheaper anyway with an internal - you have to buy an external...

    This is why!

Amazingly, I remember her publicly forgiving him immediately following the accident (and no, that's not the same as forgetting but amazing that she could forgive).
  17. A number of years ago Ernst at Bavarian Motors sourced some cloth loom tape for me for my '02.

Depends if you can weld I guess. What I suggested isn't really that difficult and you have to do it anyway when you clock the turbo (to make the drain hole point down) and make the manifold.

Call it $20 each: 318i and 323i starters - everyone knows what they look like. $20 each 2x Getrag 242 4 speed gearboxes. $50 pair
  21. My 2002tii engine for sale at $2000 - please refer to the trademe link for pics. Yes, its kinda expensive, but not really when you consider its low km rebuild, comes with everything, and a working K-fischer pump, lines and injectors is probably $1000 worth. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-306502843.htm Would also suit someone with an E21 or 318i E30 wanting to go 2 litre and prepared to sell off all the 2002tii specific bits.

    Boosting 318i

It's still a T28 turbo - the A/R .60 is the ... A/R (area ratio) and the M24 is on most Garrett turbos. You can use a different actuator (a "standard" garrett one) that mounts to the bolts holding the compressor housing on, like this: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w229/ca...rbostuff005.jpg I've got one of those (in the pic) from a Pulsar GTIR - I will have a look and see if the actuator is useable (I seem to remember it had a rust problem). Working with what you've got, you can rotate the compressor housing a little and still be able to use the standard wastegate actuator, and then if the turbo is mounted a little higher and further forward, and on a different angle, it should work:
  23. I can't answer this definitively, but I'd suggest you be careful as the last 323i's flywheel I saw was a single mass flywheel and the 325is are dual mass I think (edit - ok, so I am not so sure, so this post is not at all helpful), so its possible/likely that at least the pressure plates are different.
