Not sure you'd get anything period over those brakes! Maybe DTM look...
-
TBH I am motivated entirely by self-interest, but I know FL guys can get the ET15 to work and David says how.
-
Silver. Why not ET15 if that's the most the series guys can run (and maybe then they would fit the 2002 if they had good brake clearance ).
-
I suspect its higher than standard since its boosting higher than standard - is it supposed to creep to 14psi (which is totally safe, I am sure).
-
Looks to me like E46 cut and weld in a portion of firewall?
-
www.motorsport.org.nz That is the only way to "do it right" (if you want tarmac rally). (edit) actually against my better judgement, I'm going to engage with you on this. Can you point me in the direction of a source of professional driving instruction that suggests inducing understeer mid corner to test grip levels is valid? Quite frankly, that sounds completely like BS and is at odds with my own driving experience.

Mint - that's at the wheels right? Good power!
-
16psi is higher than 14psi! It will reach 14psi at the same point.

Boost Junkys 5 Lug Conversion Guide
CamB replied to Boost Junky's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Awesome writeup! 2 things: - fixing the caster is important - don't do the next step this way ----> undo the three nuts holding the strut top on, remove the whole strut and use spring compressors before removing the shock nut. -
Should spool the same, just go higher. Wait and see how it goes. 270kw at the wheels is freaking heaps.
-
They do have a right to judge - there are other cars on the road. I also see that Summit Road is used by cyclists quite regularly, and whether you think this is right or wrong there is a reasonable chance you will severely injure one if you do that often enough.
-
You won't get the air/fuel to 14s - it should be ~12 under boost. These are discussions the tuner should be able to help with and whether you can get it boosting earlier (and why it might not be). Have you checked for boost leaks in the intake (if there are leaks, the turbo has to work harder to get the same boost to the engine)? Maths says that if torque stays at 400nm until 6500rpm, the power will go up another 20kw. The only way to find out is to try
-
I think Luke's boost threshold will move down with tuning (at a guess). I thought the Holset and GT35R had almost exactly the same size/trim exhaust wheel? Your twin scroll manifold will help, it seems, by a further approx 500rpm based on me reading the entire internet.
-
It appears it was one of the BFC guys, who it seems are not impressed with your judgement.
-
I think you'll find the Holset is similar to the GT35R, but that the more aggressive cams on the M50 (its got NA cams rather than something designed by the factory for a turbo) will give the M50 more top end. Luke might get an earlier spool as the tuner plays with ignition timing. It will be very interesting. I like big ass dyno plots a lot.

Beg, borrow or steal a camera. We like pics
-
Awesome. Definitely looks like 300kW is a possibility at 6500rpm
-
Nope (at least not at the Pukekohe Park Rally Sprint).
-
It seems the cert process for the exhaust is the same as for a WOF - 95db at 500mm for cars in service before the standard changed, at a specified RPM. WOF looks like 92db at 1 metre (the same as 95db at 500mm). The only way to be louder than this level is to have a standard exhaust that is louder and/or to convince the WOF guy that you are the same or less loud than standard. It's really unclear what happens if they don't believe you, and I guess it will become clearer over time as there are plenty of older cars which wouldn't meet the standard.
-
For the 5 stud conversion, you need 2 things to make 5 stud work with the E30 subframe: 1) offset lower control arm bushings (eg E30 M3 style - you can get them in urethane or from BMW) 2) E36 M3 Evo lower control arms. This will bring the wheel forward. #2 is (very) expensive. PM Boost Junky if you want to know about a cheaper but rangi way of dealing with these. I can't help on the engine wiring, sorry.
-
Pedal shouldn't be too spongy - how fresh is the fluid and how well bled?
-
Its definitely possible that exhaust reversion / excess backpressure meant you were getting a dirty charge in those cylinders, which is more prone to detonation. Even still, make sure you get the tune professionally checked. It's not worth assuming the problem was entirely due to the gaskets.
-
Czech Republic isn't really third world. Based on wheelbase, I'd say the Octavia (its a wagon) is based off a Passat. Its funny - engine/driveline clearly same. Corners cut everywhere else: - Interior plastics nasty compared to VW and in particular Audi - only 1 interior light! - no hydraulic stays for bonnet - you use a rod - sound deadening not that flash I could go on. However, it's fit for purpose (carting stuff around, not too expensive) and it's fast.
-
Bummer - easily the best look on any M3 IMHO.
-
Looks hot in that photo. Not a bad price either but you'd HAVE to make sure the deal included those wheels. (edit) - Looks like doug is selling it (I realise he's probably helping out). Also edit to fix picture as I fail at the internet.
