  1. You missed a set of 13" BBSs on trademe a couple of weeks ago - went for only $160 in the end. Just keep searching - I used to have a set of 14"ers in et12 --> they show up eventually.
  2. Awesomeness. Definitely get the wideband hooked up asap, and wastegate (you don't have one yet, right?). The lifeiskaos map probably has quite good ignition advance but you still need to listen for detonation and check you plugs. The safest thing to do is find a dyno and pay up a little for piece of mind.
  3. You'd need something to control the dual vanos, and a tuner who can tune accordingly. That's not a cheap standalone (I'm thinking Autronic or MoTeC, although new Link Xtreme might do it) and not cheap tuning either... (Edit - geez, third in the queue - must try harder) Must ... resist ... urge to dig up my dirty laundry.

200lb on a trailing arm <> 200lb on a coilover, due to the different motion rates. If the Z4 has coilovers, its very, very different. For the same reason, you can't simply work off a ratio (like 1.5-1.7x) as it changes as the springs get harder (the wheel rate is what you need to work out).
  5. Pics of grinding on safety critical item?
  6. 90k? Probably depends how its driven. My wife had one - was my father's before that - clutch felt the same at 110k km as 50k km. She now has a Skoda - same gearbox. She blew that up, LOL (not her fault, and Skoda have been good about it on cost sharing despite being just out of warranty).
  7. "M only" - as I've posted before ... how ... elitist. I wonder if I could have taken the tii if it was going (pre-M). I wonder if an 850csi could go? How about a 3.0 CSL? An M325i? etc etc. I am, however, sure it would be a great day and a shame I can't get away to do it.
  8. Awesome! Well done and congrats in particular on your perseverence!

    Hairdresser spec?
  10. The series guys use them, and not much adjustment I believe.
  11. An M88/S38 cylinder head will cost at least 80% (or even the same) as a whole M88/S38 engine.
  12. IMHO, you most definitely cannot expect more at that price given the apparent condition of the rest of the car.
  13. How bad is the paint? It looks fine in the pics, but the internet is notorious for lying about paint condition?
  14. I agree. If I was in the market I'd buy that in a heartbeat at 9k as long as no material shortcomings (means rust).

True story - the RHS mount is completely different. The LHS mount is the same as the E30 ones (at least it is when you buy from Ireland).

US$180 for Group N mounts on akgmotorsport.com for a 2002, and if I break one I bet its only one (the one on the LHS is under more stress due to the design on a 2002). Ouch. Not for me.
  17. I keep thinking Escort Estate ...
  18. Its still very rare though - being a CSL (despite the luxury spec ruining it) will IMHO always increase value significantly: http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=1

It's often hard to convey certain emotions through the internet. I'm trying to project "blame"
  20. I agree - without checking pricing overseas, I suspect NZ$45k is pretty cheap if its all original (meaning unmolested) and in good condition.

That's very unfortunate on both counts. What a pain in the butt. The engine mount is concerning - second case I've read about it in a week (and I too have the same Ireland one).
  22. An E36 M3 Evo doesn't have traction control either, and some might consider a 6spd an upgrade!

Certificate of Description - its a motorsport NZ designation for classic car racing. It's a bunch of restrictions on changes/modifications to still allow the car to be considered a classic. I, for one, hope James does get a CoD. Means I am more likely to. The rules around turbos have a quirk that makes it hard to comply.
  24. $500 maybe yeah - it could cost a fortune to find parts if its not complete. There aren't THAT many around. Having said that, there's a dude selling a 2002 rear windscreen on trademe who has a bunch of bits cheap. Some bits easy to find, some shocking.
