    E30 M3

Very nice!!! Shame you have to sell it Laurence
  3. If i may ask a few Q's. What are you planning to do with the car?? Have it as a daily driver, 50/50 road/track car or full on track beast?? Depending on what type of car you want will determine how you build the suspension, body, engine etc. Also what sort of HP figures are you looking for? Laurence
  4. wonder how many 'transforming kegs' we will see this year, after the Tui adds Laurence
  5. I was running close to 2500wrms in my system when I had it installed and I didn't have too many problems with the battery. 2 x 1000d eaudio and a 480d eaudio with dls speakers I did install a 20farred competition cap which helped when the bass was really going.. I'd probably re-mount the battery and make sure the grounds are all clean. I went through and cleaned all the grounds, connections b4 I turned the system up, cheeper than having to fix a broken car (low volts) You in welly?? Would be keen to check out your set-up sometime Edit: i posted on your other topic b4 I saw this thread Laurence
  6. IMO e30's aren't the best car if you're competing in a 'sound-off'. I also had the same problem of the rear firewall = bad sound transfer when I had my old e30. Unfortunately if you're going to cut it out then you need to get it cert'd like was mentioned. At the price of engineers report + re-cert just for a sound-off you'd be better to spend the money on a oldish hatch back (toyota or something) and put the sounds in that, You'll have a big cabin for the sounds and it wouldnt cost that much more then converting the e30. just my 2c What sort of gear are you installing ie. sounds??? If you're interested I have 2 x 1000w eaudio amps and a 20 farred tsunami (competition) cap I'm thinking of selling soon. Laurence
  7. no worries hope it helped to clear a few things up Laurence
  8. As i have background knowledge in Insurance hopefully I can help explain a few things. PLEASE remember this is just what I understand things to mean so they might not be 100% correct. Anything added to the car that was NOT on it when it left the showroom floor (eg different wheels, tints, cd players) are classified as a Modification.. EVEN if it was not YOU that added them.. Example: You buy a car with 17" wheels that are aftermarket wheels but were put on by the previous owner. Answer = Modification (in essence is is irrelevant WHO add the wheels, they only look to see if the wheels are factory standard or added after the fact) Most insurance companies will work out the 'risk' of insurance based on a number of different things. Normally: Age, driving experience including licence type, type of car (engine size, turbo non-turbo, where you live, how many tickets you have had, have you lost your licence, blah blah blah) male or female (sometimes) is the car private or business, modifications. If you look at the 'type' of modifications you have unfortunately most modifications are visual modifications (things that make the car look different that when it left the showroom) and these will normally give you a higher risk. Example: - Aftermarket wheels - Tints - body kits - aftermarket lights - lowered suspension - fluffy dice etc... etc... Insurance companies will 'normally' look at the cost of the modifications in relation to the cost of your vehicle (generally market value). If the percentage of modifications is too high in relation to the price of the car the vehicle may become uninsurable. Example: Vehicle is worth $10,000 but you have: $1000 wheels $1000 stereo $500 tints $1000 body kit In this example 35% of the cars value is modifications and this may be too much, given that the modifications are a high percentage of the cars value and are also visual modifications that change the appearance of the car from it's stock appearance the risk may be too great including your age, type of car etc. Also remember that comprehensive/full cover does not always mean you will get paid out the INSURED SUM specified on your policy.. If you read the fine print it will 'probably' say you are covered for the MARKET VALUE up to a maximum sum of $$$. (This maximum value is usually the value listed on the insurance policy). Market value 'may' be taken by getting a few quotes from registered independent assessors as to what the vehicle is work in it's current condition NOT what YOU think it is worth. Example: You buy a car for $10,000 off Trademe and ring up to insure the vehicle. They ask what it is worth. You tell them you bought it for $10,000 so they $10,000 in the insurance policy, life is good. HOWEVER you may have paid too much for the car when you bought it and in it's current condition the car might only be worth $8500 Market value given it's high milage, wear and tear, etc etc. Answer: You get paid out $8,500 market value OR Example: You buy a car for $10,000 off Trademe and ring up to insure the vehicle. They ask what it is worth. You tell them you bought it for $10,000 so they $10,000 in the insurance policy, life is good. HOWEVER you may have scored a wicked as deal on your car and it's market value is ACTUALLY $12,000. Primo, awesome deal.. BUT your insurance only covers you UP to a $10,000 maximum sum as you are paying premiums for a cover of $10,000. Answer: You get paid out $10,000 NOT the higher market value of $12,000 Insuring your vehicle for an AGREED SUM can be a whole new type of cover and will probably cost you a little more. This is because the insurance company is agreeing to cover the vehicle for an agreed sum and they have no idea how much the vehicle is REALLY worth. Hence, if you get this type of cover you may be required to have the car pre-valued before your insurance cover is accepted. Please remember that this is just what I recall about insurance policies/cover etc. Things may have changed but I hope you understand a few things about the covers etc. If you have any queries PM me Laurence
  9. Edit: ERR.. how do i make the pictures big instead of attachments???? Laurence
  10. Thanks They are a set of genuine BBS RS that have been re-furbished & polished to look like new. Laurence
  11. From memory I think you can be "Green Stickered" if you have your number plate in your window and not screwed on the car. Laurence
  12. e30 m3 evo steering wheel Laurence
  13. Still looking into a brake system that I can fit with the wheels.. Would love AP but haven't really looked into it in depth. Will get the car on the road first and go from there BTW, if you put AP 6 & 4 pot on that would be sooo sweet Laurence
  14. yep.. I'm not planning on doing too much driving and may do quite a bit of the tarmac driver training stuff. Given it will be mostly dry weather driving i went for the Toyo Laurence
  15. yeh, it was a struggle LOL. Haha, I know, crazy about the weather!! wasn;t expecting it to be such a nice day but it turned out to be awesome! Tyres are R-Dot road legal tarmac tyre so should stick quite nicely to the road And NO photoshop. Just straight from the camera to the PC Laurence
  16. thanks for the compliments guys I should point out that the M3 we put them on has had a ground up restoration with an awesome paint job and is one of the best examples of an e30 M3 Can't wait to see them on the black M3 Laurence
  17. After cleaning the BBS wheels up I thought it would be a good idea to fit them up to a BMW M3 to see what they will look like on my e30 M3 when it's on the road so as promised I now have some pictures of my BBS RS wheels on a friends e30 M3 cab... Hope you enjoy Laurence
  18. yep Awesome guy and A++ products BTW I'm starting a new thread with my BBS wheels on my friends M3 cab, sorta shows what they will look like on an e30 Laurence
  19. I didn't have a digital camera when I first bought the M3 so don't have any photos on a disk, but I do have a few photos that I printed onto A4 before I lost the film.. The M3 wasn't in the best of shape but i'll see if I can scan them up tonight if I get time. Nope, I'll check his user name and see if I can post his website up here PS. I managed to fit the BBS RS onto my friends e30 M3 Cab this afternoon and have some nice shots that I'll post up tonight if I get the time Laurence
  20. I owe you big for helping me with the wheel cover spanner.. (bad stories of tyre shops using normal spanners)!!! Am hoping to fit them up to a friends car today to see what they will look like when I get the M3 on the road.. Will post up some pics later tonight if I get a chance to Laurence
  21. I bought the rims off a member of www.s14.net who runs a business in Germany. He does refurbs a lot of pretty cool wheels & does a lot of custom made CF parts for M3's. They are original 3 piece BBS RS.. will try post pic of the stamp in the wheel giving offset etc Laurence
  22. LOL!! just saw that now.. mate with the windows down and twisty roads I don't think the hat would stay on the rear shelf for long Thanks, had to wait over a year to get my hands on the BBS RS's.. really really hard to find a set in good conditon. Were re-finished by a guy in Germany and then shipped to NZ for me. Laurence
  23. I only went B&W cos i couldn't sort out the damn colour contrast on the digital camera. Pics came out better than I had expected. Laurence
  24. Well the M3 is close to finished so I thought it would be a good time to pull a few things out of storage and get them cleaned up and ready to go onto the car.. hope you like (The BBS RS have the mirror finish on both the outside & inside of the rims (pic 4)) BBS RS 17 x 8.5 Mmmm.... Toyo R888 235/40/17 fitted all round.. should give ample grip Custom Recaro seats with BBS in the background side on view of the BBS RS Laurence EDIT: Some more pics
