Agree with the above about headphones, but it's not as nice to chuck something on in the background, obviously. I completely disagree about amp being not so important, good speakers won't sound good with crap going into them. I have the Cambridge 640A amp, really good bang for buck in the sub $1000 range (although that is new). Also recommend looking at NAD and rotel in that price range and it is possible to find second hand naim, cyrus and some of the more high end brands second hand in this price range. I've never listened to Marantz gear but I've heard really good stuff about it. Also, as a possible money saver you could get an ipod + dock and put all your music on it in 320kbps or lossless and it will sound damn near as good as the cds. Also recommend getting decent speaker cable (you don't need to spend more than $10/m to get something decent, btw). Finally, keep buzzing around on Audioenz for a good deal to come up. I bought my Image Studio Reference HD speakers ($1600 rrp) with Mission speaker stands ($400 rrp) that had only been used for 2 weeks before the guy decided he wanted to upgrade again for only $800.

One thing to watch if adding the undertray that you don't end up with cooling issues by cutting out that airflow through to the engine. I've heard of this happening to E36 M3 track cars when people have tried to add undertrays. Might not be an issue for an M20 E30 but something to consider

EVO magazine in it's 100 greatest drivers cars issue rated the mk1 996 GT3 as their favourite of the GT3s and 3rd greatest drivers car overall. "Every subsequent GT3 has been faster and grippier, but the delicacy of the mk1 version has never been matched... The damping is a thing of wonder... I know someone who bought one new and sold it after a couple of years. Last year he was thinking about maybe getting another one to add back to his car collection (he has quite a few), he was offered one for around $85k. I think this was around when one was on trademe for a bit over $100k, which he thought was asking too much at the time. I don't know any details about k's done, modifications made, or overall condition on the one he was offered though sorry. I don't imagine the value would have dropped too far below this though, especially for one with the extras that yours has. Hope that helps.

It's gonna be awesome. Looking forward to mars volta, peaches, kasabian, the decemberists and probably some others too. Last year was even better. Was a life long dream to see Neil Young. He'll never be topped as a headliner for me.

Thanks guys, has been a good day so far, should get even better once the whiskey/rum/tequila/beer bottles get opened later on! I'll be trying to make more of a contribution to the forum this year rather that spending all my time lurking. I'm looking forward to meeting some more of you at the anniversary day cruise too.
