Subaru is a different kettle of fish tbh Mine has a similar size turbo to dsr380 and i have full boost by 3500 and it holds solid till redline and i could probably bring that down lower with a little more tuning Put simply with a smaller turbo your going to need more boost to reach your hp goals so if you want to retain that turbo and shoot for big hp either lower your compression or use a bigger turbo Thicker hg with arp studs works fine going off the usa forums Lower CR pistons would be best Im using standard CR with buckets of overlap and a big mumma turbo for my current build
  3. Nope dont bother with a piggy back dme uses internal ignitors making it difficult to tune ignition timing Either get the dme remapped or use a standalone Ive looked into every alternative including fmu, safc2 etc. and these are the only two that are worth doing imho Just use your megasquirt its been proven to work and it will save you alot of time and effort

Fair enough I used a similar sized turbo on my last setup and had next to no lag Your not worried about boost tapering off at higher revs? I would have thought the dsr430 would have been a better match nissan guys use them and still have a low boost thresh hold Have you lowered compression or standard C/R?
  5. What are you using for tuning?
  6. Yup common practice but you will need to take some meat off the back of the flywheel and use an e21 release bearing. EDIT - beaten to it lol

  10. 1100lb sheez stuff that for a road car My subaru is softer than that and the rides so harsh ive contemplated getting a sports bra to hold my slightly overweight man titties in place anyway why dont you just get 1100lb springs that are 40mm shorter than the first ones?

  13. I dunno if i would say making it yourself isnt doing it properly but to each their own It wasnt so obvious at first thought it was just worn bushes then as it got worse It sounded like a wheel bearing. Found out it was the diff mounts when i pulled over in cambridge then drove home to welly with 1 bolt holding my diff in
  14. Mines a 1990 I had the same problem with the diff mounts. mine ripped out 3 of them though. I dont know what the reinforcement plates look like but to fix mine used 6 mm plate folded around the contour of the mount area then welded the crap out of it
  15. Dunno if thats aimed at my post or not but i just assumed he had a new ecu with zero settings on it and as a newbie tuner myself ive found working off a "base tune" is easier than starting from scratch. It might be different for you cause you know what your doing but for a ham fist sausage finger like me I like to know that at one stage that tune worked for someone else so if i mash enough buttons it will eventually work for me
  16. whats tragic is ^that^ post had better spelling than the trademe auction
  17. Go on the mapecu forum and search for m30 turbo map Pretty sure they had a base map or someone had shared one or something along those lines Then just modify maps to suit your setup EDIT- go on mapecu.com > support > base tables > BMW Lists "BMW Turbocharged 535i" as a downloadable table tweak it for your chit and Job done.
