That gearbox price is a joke. Import one from the states yourself for less than half that shipped. Use www.kiwishipping.co.nz for getting it here. Takes a bit of searching. But you should be able to get them here for under $1500 landed for a 420G with the V8 bell housing. They have plenty of 540i Manuals in the states.

There is no swappable diff for the E39. Need something like a Quafe Diff or a complete E39 M5 Subframe and drive shaft. E39 540i's The life of the one wheel tyre fires.

I have had this problem a few times in my E30 Series car. The TPS fills with oil and causes a stutter when you hit the gas. Quite noticeable in the race car where you need full throttle 99% of the time. With the engine off and the throttle 100% closed you should here a little click when you start to slowly open the throttle by hand. Should be a sharp little click. If it is dull or not there at all you may find its got oil in it. The TPS is on the bottom of your Throttle body. The oil runs down the main shaft on the M20 and straight into it.

I think the wagon would get wedged. Haha.

This car was put in its current state in just 6 months.

Had a look at the 530D Touring today. My Mrs has decided she doesn't want a Touring now that she has been in one. Just too big for her. Though that had nothing to do with the reason I wouldn't buy that car. Every panel has a decent scratch or dent. Back left quarter is quite bad from where the car has scraped something. Front right of the motorsport bumper is nearly split in two all the way up to the headlights from where it has caught on a curb and been folded back. Over $1000 to fix that bumper alone. The headlights are so sunburnt that there is no saving them. They would need to be replaced. Yellow, cracked and full of moisture. The car looks like it has never been washed. Ever. Even though he had just washed it a few mins before meeting us. Mold and moss around the boot and doors. Electric hatch no longer works. Interior is well used and very dirty. Being grey it would need steam cleaning to get back to a respectable standard. Under the bonnet is very dirty. Car has always lived outside so the drains were blocked and had actually flooded into the break master which needed to be replaced recently because of it. The thermostat housing had been budget repaired with non genuine parts. There was a lot of corrosion around it and it was leaking badly. Surprised it hadn't let go already. The owner knew nothing about cars but when he saw this he was a little worried. For me I was very worried. Had just replaced the front tyres with the cheapest brand on the market. I would not be paying more than $12K for that car. It would need at least a safe 5K to get to standard. This car has been very neglected. Something a diesel BMW should never be.

Sigh.. First contact with the owner of the 530D Estate was instant. Now nothing since. Mrs likes the Sedan more than the estate. Both have been listed for quite a long time. Decisions decisions.

F10 is a bit out of reach if I want to keep racing. I am finding all the NZ new cars have nearly nothing extra. All the e90s I have looked at don't have idrive and none are motorsports. Grandpa spec. No worries. Was ugly as hell with that interior. I decided I want a motorsport or none at all.

Going to go and have a look at the Touring today if I can. Has been listed a while. So has the one in Greymouth. I will be getting it checked by one of the 1000 odd BMW specialists on the shore here. Been looking at E90 330D's too but found that so many of the ones being sold at realistic prices here are Grandad spec. Make sure that option book has NO TICKS!!. I want something that looks good and has a few options. I have browsed that one you posted Jon. But that horrendous colour. I just can't do it. Nor can I bring myself to look at the Blue one in Tokoroa with the disgusting beige interior. Been there done that with my E39.

Yeah from what I can see the 2005 E60 530D should not have this issue. Also looking at import prices though. UK import as long as you do all the work yourself will be less than $20K inc GST and shipping. Much more of a choice and most have far less KM's. Just depends if they meet the current Euro Diesel standard and if you want to take the risk with surface corrosion etc....

What engine is in that? Edit. It is the M57TUD30. So it does have flaps. M47 engine(136bhp non common rail vp44 injection pump) DO NOT HAVE swirl flaps M47N common rail engine (including M47N/M47TU/M47TUD20)(150bhp face lift model August-September 2001 onwards) has flaps M57 engines(M57D)(525d & 187bhp 330d) have no swirl flaps on the manual cars BUT AUTOMATICS DO M57N engines(M57TUD)(525d & 330d 204bhp) have swirl flaps both manual and automatics BMW 4 cylinders M47 diesels post late 2008 early 2009 are not fitted with swirl flaps anymore, to check your car enter your car chassis number into realoem.com and check your specification, also 6 cylinder N57 diesel engines have a flap control but this is an inline system and not a swirl flap system.. I looked at this trademe listing. As I am looking for a *30D for towing. Really nice car in Motorsport form. But what can I expect to start need replacing at these KM's? Motor will go forever but what about the rest of her?
