From the PM's there are a few people after one. Some kid stopped me in the car park at Albany mall the other day to see if I would sell it.

Yup everyone seems to be giving them sh*t for claiming ALL MURICAN!. Stretched Lotus chassis. Is a pretty big feat. But yeah not a production car but a kit car. And not all American.

I was planning to keep my M325i for a while. But things change and I want something that can tow the race car. So it will be for sale in a few months all ready for the next Bimmersport owner to love.

Repo E90 330D for (potentially) cheap
Driftit replied to lord_jagganath's topic in TradeMe discussions
Would be a steal for anything under 25K. Most others I have looked at for sale have double those KM's and are around 25-30K -
Missed this post. But just going back to towing with E39's. Have towed my race car all over the north island many times. 97 E39 540i with factory tow bar towing a single axle braked trailer. Plenty of power. But as said by Milan. Trans will overheat. Especially in traffic. Mine pretty much boiled when stuck in traffic on the motorway. Had to replace the fluid. If you are towing with a single axle you must get the balance of the tow bar right. About 70-90kgs on the tongue. Any more and the car will drag its ass and flog out all the rear bushes pretty quickly. Twin axle trailers are best of course. Where the tow bar mounts in the chassis rails of the E39 you may find it starts to stretch the metal around the bolts. This can get quite bad if towing heavy hire trailers with your car on the back.

I see GT Refinishes are advertising they will polish and seal your lights now. Not all that expensive if you don't want to attempt it yourself. https://www.facebook.com/Gtref Their example is a E39 headlight. They offer just polishing or sealing too.

Is the sort of guy who will run up the ass of a late model Euro at the lights. The late model euro owners insurance company will then destroy his life. If he is young enough they will go after the parents money/assets.

$3000 on a new clutch. Made of diamonds. Rare. Nope. Trying to pull a swifty on the Buses insurance. They will see right through it and give him what its worth. About $4K max.

Mrs has a 5C for work. She hates it. But due to its poor ability to integrate with her secure work place systems (Navy). As a facebook viewer and selfie taker it seems to be great. It is a nice shade of YOLO YELLOW!@*(. Very appropriate when you are dealing with VIP's.

I have been looking at E90's recently also. I have found most NZ New vehicles have very few options. Most are as close to the base model as you can get. I was after a diesel vehicle though.

M30 in that one on Stanceworks. Must be another.

That gearbox price is a joke. Import one from the states yourself for less than half that shipped. Use www.kiwishipping.co.nz for getting it here. Takes a bit of searching. But you should be able to get them here for under $1500 landed for a 420G with the V8 bell housing. They have plenty of 540i Manuals in the states.

There is no cheap or easy option. There is no direct swappable parts for the stock diff housing unless you buy a Quaife unit. http://quaife.co.uk/node/3815 Though Geoff down in Wellington had a full E39 M5 Rear End quite a while back he may still have. User name: FIAT 131R

There is no swappable diff for the E39. Need something like a Quafe Diff or a complete E39 M5 Subframe and drive shaft. E39 540i's The life of the one wheel tyre fires.

Oooo whats that worth Geoff? Sure someone would snap that up on Bimmersport.

I have had this problem a few times in my E30 Series car. The TPS fills with oil and causes a stutter when you hit the gas. Quite noticeable in the race car where you need full throttle 99% of the time. With the engine off and the throttle 100% closed you should here a little click when you start to slowly open the throttle by hand. Should be a sharp little click. If it is dull or not there at all you may find its got oil in it. The TPS is on the bottom of your Throttle body. The oil runs down the main shaft on the M20 and straight into it.

I think the wagon would get wedged. Haha.

Main reason I need to sell is due to fitment with slicks. They fit perfect with road tyres. But would need to go wide body with slicks. Got bored and put them on TM. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=695925610&ed=true Price can be $1850 buy now for Bimmersporters.

How much for the pair of headlights mate. Mine have been destroyed by flying race car parts and rocks.

Nice little run around. Well balanced.

Had a look at the 530D Touring today. My Mrs has decided she doesn't want a Touring now that she has been in one. Just too big for her. Though that had nothing to do with the reason I wouldn't buy that car. Every panel has a decent scratch or dent. Back left quarter is quite bad from where the car has scraped something. Front right of the motorsport bumper is nearly split in two all the way up to the headlights from where it has caught on a curb and been folded back. Over $1000 to fix that bumper alone. The headlights are so sunburnt that there is no saving them. They would need to be replaced. Yellow, cracked and full of moisture. The car looks like it has never been washed. Ever. Even though he had just washed it a few mins before meeting us. Mold and moss around the boot and doors. Electric hatch no longer works. Interior is well used and very dirty. Being grey it would need steam cleaning to get back to a respectable standard. Under the bonnet is very dirty. Car has always lived outside so the drains were blocked and had actually flooded into the break master which needed to be replaced recently because of it. The thermostat housing had been budget repaired with non genuine parts. There was a lot of corrosion around it and it was leaking badly. Surprised it hadn't let go already. The owner knew nothing about cars but when he saw this he was a little worried. For me I was very worried. Had just replaced the front tyres with the cheapest brand on the market. I would not be paying more than $12K for that car. It would need at least a safe 5K to get to standard. This car has been very neglected. Something a diesel BMW should never be. -

Sigh.. First contact with the owner of the 530D Estate was instant. Now nothing since. Mrs likes the Sedan more than the estate. Both have been listed for quite a long time. Decisions decisions. -
