  1. Every time. I am dreading selling the Mrs's 200SX.
  2. Even at 20k those KMs would put any serious investors off.
  3. Even in NZ I would only order parts from the US. Many of them have slashed their international shipping recently. It's still only just over $300 at the moment.
  4. They are going up in the US too. Seen some stupid prices for what is not a real E36 M3 in my eyes. Useless US motor they were forced to put in it. They are the same price as E46 M3's now. Which are in the low teens.
  5. If you could get it for less than $2500 it wouldn't take much to clean her up. Well from where I am. Parts cost bugger all here. Could build a refreshed motorsport from this for less than $1k. Also I don't know anyone whom's only interest in cars is as a daily driver that cleans under the bonnet.
  6. Yeah that is pretty crazy. The KM's just don't make it a collectible car.
  7. Kayne is the man to see with anything BMW gearbox or diff related. Has been a massive help to me and everyone in the BMW race series over the years. Also he used to rally an E34!!
  8. She is pretty neglected and over heating. Could be a good project if you can pick it up cheap though. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1900356425.htm?rsqid=e4a7f9c6a7bb44f6b50829b5beee110c
  9. Turners and ECS merged. But that has been a good thing for me. I can get their stuff overnight.
  10. Geoff I think that is more the realities of New Zealand. It's a risk of the type of cars we love to drive. I have had just as much trouble getting an 18" normal tire in Matamata as I did getting a run flat in Kaikoura. Though I was much happier to stay in Kaikoura than Matamata. I'm soon to be commuting over the Rimutakas when I return to NZ. I would much rather have a run flat to get me over the hill than have to change a tire somewhere on the Wairarapa side. I've seen people doing just that. They looked pretty stressed when the logging trucks come past.

    Quick rant thread.

Pretty happy with my 80per year including parking. I also take my own responsibility for the safety of my vehicle by an emissions check only once every two years. If I crash due to the safety of my vehicle I'm liable. And will likely be sued. No hand holding by the government. It can be both good and bad. I probably end up paying more through insurance to protect my liability than the fee system NZ has.
  12. Maybe I should have been more strern when I said the valve guides will die. E60 V8s are affordable to buy for a reason. My E60 530D however was a great car. 210000kms (NZ kms) and not one issue.
  13. Hah I drove past this today. It's parked on Lake Rd, Devonport End. It looked a bit odd to me.
  14. 2JZ's and RB's are ancient now. They all need significant money spent if you intend to chase big power. Nearly all of them have been modified. Up to 20 years of random mods. A friend just recently picked up an R32 GTR that is quite well known in the community. It is alarming how much money it needs spent on it. And it was a good one. Seen my fair share of broken Supras and GTR's at the GTR track days over the years. The best thing you could do is ship them to the US. Make an absolute killing on them. I saw a f**king GTE (yes E) Skyline 4 door povo edition sell for $10K USD!!!!!!. It was a pile of sh*t. I felt like a prick afterwards but I told the guy that they are a $1000 or less car in NZ. His face said it all. JDM YO!!!!! Got the price wrong. It was $10K not $14K.

    Quick rant thread.

I am pretty much a prisoner in my own apartment today. George H W Bush funeral over the road at the National Cathedral. All streets are blocked. I had to prove I live where I do to get OUT of the area. It is a media circus right in front of my building. They are even in the garden. The Faux News reporter is pretty hot though. Shutting down Wisconsin Ave is pretty nuts though. That is like shutting down Great North Road x 20.
  16. It's not relevant for vehicles of this age. You just adjust them to suite. It was only an issue with older lights where it relied of the pattern to be created by the glass/plastic itself.
  17. You can actually buy the xenon parts separate from the housing. Otherwise pick some up from the US. They are pretty cheap as there are a ton of 04/05 E46's around. Also the LED rear lights too.
  18. This is actually quite nice. And not poverty spec.
  19. There was a manual E60 M5 sitting on a yard down by Quantico a month back. Looked like an Marines car too. Rough as guts. Wrong hand drive wherever you are is a total pain in the ass. Just convert one to manual. Oh and I have driven a manual 550i E60. Felt like a big car to be manual. And I got sick of it pretty quickly.
  20. 100% with you. Hence my comments on that other listing. Could be worth repainting it though. You must have access to all the original colors from the factory? I love Blue BMW's but I would take the Black one over the Blue one here. Thanks qube for making me look at cars again... The UK imports cop a lot of flack for rust and corrosion. But they are starting to be picked up by true enthusiasts now. Which means they are being cleaned up. I have seen a few advertised (whilst asking a premium) that have underneath pics to prove they have no corrosion. Summer cars. Same thing is happening here.
  21. Congrats. As I said. Sharp price.
  22. That's a pretty sharp price. Can't imagine it will be available for long.
  23. I'm done with the Government. I have now seen how they run from the inside. Never again. I just want to play with cars and computers with my head buried in the sand like when I was young. I'm okay with loud M5's. The way they are meant to be
  24. They are pretty good value now. And the Jap imports flooding in seem to be well spec'ed. Compared to the 3 series that are coming in. Poverty Pack basic 3 series that looks like they were part of a rental car fleet. I will no doubt be commuting from the Waiarapa to Wellington when I come back. Need something a little fun. Yay I can't wait to spend half my money on fuel. Until I can convince the Mrs to move back to the US or somewhere else.
