    Quick rant thread.

Pretty happy with my 80per year including parking. I also take my own responsibility for the safety of my vehicle by an emissions check only once every two years. If I crash due to the safety of my vehicle I'm liable. And will likely be sued. No hand holding by the government. It can be both good and bad. I probably end up paying more through insurance to protect my liability than the fee system NZ has.
  2. Maybe I should have been more strern when I said the valve guides will die. E60 V8s are affordable to buy for a reason. My E60 530D however was a great car. 210000kms (NZ kms) and not one issue.
  3. Hah I drove past this today. It's parked on Lake Rd, Devonport End. It looked a bit odd to me.
  4. 2JZ's and RB's are ancient now. They all need significant money spent if you intend to chase big power. Nearly all of them have been modified. Up to 20 years of random mods. A friend just recently picked up an R32 GTR that is quite well known in the community. It is alarming how much money it needs spent on it. And it was a good one. Seen my fair share of broken Supras and GTR's at the GTR track days over the years. The best thing you could do is ship them to the US. Make an absolute killing on them. I saw a f**king GTE (yes E) Skyline 4 door povo edition sell for $10K USD!!!!!!. It was a pile of sh*t. I felt like a prick afterwards but I told the guy that they are a $1000 or less car in NZ. His face said it all. JDM YO!!!!! Got the price wrong. It was $10K not $14K.

    Quick rant thread.

I am pretty much a prisoner in my own apartment today. George H W Bush funeral over the road at the National Cathedral. All streets are blocked. I had to prove I live where I do to get OUT of the area. It is a media circus right in front of my building. They are even in the garden. The Faux News reporter is pretty hot though. Shutting down Wisconsin Ave is pretty nuts though. That is like shutting down Great North Road x 20.
  6. It's not relevant for vehicles of this age. You just adjust them to suite. It was only an issue with older lights where it relied of the pattern to be created by the glass/plastic itself.
  7. You can actually buy the xenon parts separate from the housing. Otherwise pick some up from the US. They are pretty cheap as there are a ton of 04/05 E46's around. Also the LED rear lights too.
  8. This is actually quite nice. And not poverty spec.
  9. There was a manual E60 M5 sitting on a yard down by Quantico a month back. Looked like an Marines car too. Rough as guts. Wrong hand drive wherever you are is a total pain in the ass. Just convert one to manual. Oh and I have driven a manual 550i E60. Felt like a big car to be manual. And I got sick of it pretty quickly.
  10. 100% with you. Hence my comments on that other listing. Could be worth repainting it though. You must have access to all the original colors from the factory? I love Blue BMW's but I would take the Black one over the Blue one here. Thanks qube for making me look at cars again... The UK imports cop a lot of flack for rust and corrosion. But they are starting to be picked up by true enthusiasts now. Which means they are being cleaned up. I have seen a few advertised (whilst asking a premium) that have underneath pics to prove they have no corrosion. Summer cars. Same thing is happening here.
  11. Congrats. As I said. Sharp price.
  12. That's a pretty sharp price. Can't imagine it will be available for long.
  13. I'm done with the Government. I have now seen how they run from the inside. Never again. I just want to play with cars and computers with my head buried in the sand like when I was young. I'm okay with loud M5's. The way they are meant to be
  14. They are pretty good value now. And the Jap imports flooding in seem to be well spec'ed. Compared to the 3 series that are coming in. Poverty Pack basic 3 series that looks like they were part of a rental car fleet. I will no doubt be commuting from the Waiarapa to Wellington when I come back. Need something a little fun. Yay I can't wait to spend half my money on fuel. Until I can convince the Mrs to move back to the US or somewhere else.
  15. Yeah I do like that one. Though It's a little old and the gray interior is a bit meh. And I don't think the Mrs wants a Manual. But nice price. How do you like your one? I don't think I got to see it before I left. This 08 one looks good. Not manual of course though. $1k asking more. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1807306281.htm?rsqid=559b1f33557647029a3725219b47ddcd

    Import tax

Haha no no I think you all misheard them. They said first year. Donald Trump tactics. That's not my voice, signature, video saying that it was the first term. It's the fake media.... It's Nationals Tax. So it doesn't count. ?
  17. That's as early 2000's Aussie as you get. Just missing the Veilside body kit.

    Import tax

In their first year. That's passed hasn't it. Prepare yourself for the next 2.

    Import tax

Sorry you can't catch the bus as they are on strike.. Not kidding. But this Tax was always coming. National thought it up. But Labour rushed it through.
  20. Everyone in NZ just goes onto Tardme. Looks at what a car similar to theirs is advertised at and matches it.
  21. In the US the M325i is a 325is. I have no idea why they called it this. As for the E34. You have all 3. 535is, M535i and the 535i. In the US it is just the 535i. Which is odd because they did have an E28 535is, just not the E34 535is. My E34 535is is from the UK. Where you would expect it to be called a M535i or 535i Sport like the E30's from the UK.. And we thought the new model numbers were confusing. But the actual 325is is the South African version. There is one on TM for 60K+.

    Import tax

Hmmm. So say you guys buy $999NZD of goods and shipping at a time from Driftit No.1 Ltd based here in the US. I get supplied from FCP or similar. Once I reach 60K I start up Driftit No.2 Ltd and so on. No GST? Oh and it will be based in Delaware which has no local sales tax either. Actually I think I want to call the company 'NONZGSTLOL Ltd'
  23. I now have a stereotype of NZ and Jap cars. Usually featureless poverty spec vehicles.
