It really was fridge like. But during the winter when the rich folk head to Naples to lounge in their 40 million dollar beach houses for a month, they like to be seen driving from the Airport in these monstrosities.

The junk here is true junk. New cars are often cheaper than NZ's second hand cars though. In the DMV area old Euros (more than 5 years old) are dirt cheap. I would say they are around 30% cheaper than the NZ equivalent. Newer M cars would be at least 50% cheaper. Its the old numbers game. There are just so many of them. And after the 3 year lease is up they get dumped on the market.

So I was wondering around a standard car dealership in Naples, Florida last night after a few drinks. Amongst the 30+ Bentley SUV's, 15 or more Rolls cars of various types and over 60 Jags of which nearly all were R's. I saw this for the first time in person... Also this great discount on a New R Wagon. Drop of $30K USD. You would however need to move out of the neighborhood with your filthy hood rat station wagon. Yuck be gone poor person....
-
Interesting you say that. Now that I am coming back to NZ. Cars in NZ are not cheap compared to the US. And Professional Maintenance is far far cheaper than here.
-
It is something I didn't realise until I lived in the US though. I started catching on when I had my E60 530d which had done 217,000kms and still drove and looked better than most that had done sub 100K. Though on this M3 with that many KM's no history of some of the import repairs is not good. Nothing a PPI from a BMW indi couldn't sort I guess.
-
Funny. 100K miles in the US is still considered low mileage. Kiwis: Cars done 100K Km's. Will probably blow up now. Better sell it. Whats everyone on TM listing theirs for? Advertise it for the same price...
-
Haha same here. And then I drove a GTR. They both need 50K thrown at them these days.
-
MkIV never had any X factor for me. Always thought it was a fat whale of a car.
-
Will take it. Sent you a message.
-
Must be getting old. I think it looks sh*t. Wheels are naff.
-
No I mean if they continue down that track. There is money in boring little econoboxes. It's what the majority want. But as we keep saying. Who cares. None of us will buy one. Most of us will stick with the old BMW's we grew up with. That's where the true fun and pain is.
-
It's when BMW shifts it's focus from prestige and sports cars/suvs to econo-boxes to chase the $$$ that I think will hurt it's image. It could slip into the VW category where they just make a ton of average vehicles for joe blogs. There should be two groups. BMW for Joe Blogs. M Division for the enthusiast. Oh wait haha.

I can't get past all the fake plastic panels and what seems like 416 different angles all over the car. I hardly see them on my travels. Gives me the feeling i'm not the only one who thinks they look cheap and nasty. Unless you were going to punish it on the track I would rather a Magane.
-
Very mediocre cheap feeling car. You won't be impressed by it.
-
Most of them sell for $4K or less. Even in good condition. I'm sure BAT are pumping up some of these sales. There is some real crap selling for big bucks on there.
-
Something definatley doesn't look right in the rear end. The way that bumper fits. And the huge arches around the rear wheel. Otherwise it looks nicely done. Get yourself some E46 M3 running gear. And you will have a quick car. Since it's a rep I wouldn't bother with an S14.
-
Less than a month to go. Selling a car here can be hard work. I'm glad I am leaving my US phone number behind. The amount of Robocalls and spam txt's you get is just insane. I will probably get what I paid for the car I think. With all the maintenance done.
-
Eh I don't have any interest in these models of BMW anyway. I would never buy one new. I guess we will just hang onto the ones we like. Hell the E46 is seeing a huge bump here in the US at the moment. Especially the M's and ZHP's.
-
That motor had to be rebuilt after every race though. This one is built to last 3700 miles. Which is quite a bit for a race motor.

Quite a cool little article about the new P48 and a comparison with great pics of the M121, its predecessor from the 2002 Turbo. https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/27667/bmws-new-600-hp-4-cylinder-engine-shows-how-far-engineering-has-come-since-1969

I was never fond of how much oil they burnt and dropped. Were like bloody two strokes.
-
It's very nice but is it $38k nice?..

It will probably get "Sold". To a family member.... -
Oh should have said. Not looking at 335's. No interest in them until the F series. So just the 330's and 325's.
-
Have a look on TM now. Nearly all the Motorsports are cloth.
-
Ah cheers for that. I shall stop calling it poverty cloth. I'm not sold on it though. It makes sense now that there are so many similar cars. I thought they would have a bit more freedom with the spec sheet.
