you will need to do the following. 1 remove the interior door panel so you can see inside the door. 2 have a look around and make sure all rods are connected and no clips are broken. also make sure any cables are conected and secured. 3 if all is connected pull on the outside handel while watching the rods attached to it and make sure they move apropriatly with the handle. 4 if all above is ok. shut the door lock with door open using a screw driver or something. and then pull the handle and see if it unlocks. 5 if all above fails you will probably need a new lock unit

as said before. the battery warning light means the battery is not charging. check all the fuses you can find. im not sure where they are located. also put a volt meter accross the battery when the car is running and if you get a reading lower than 13v it means the altinator is not charging the battery

exterior black trim? please elabarate im a little confused

if your going to even think about going to the trouble of pulling out the motor then it would be silly to put a 2litre back in. i would upgrade to a 2.5 at least. there is a extra few hp before you start modding anything. and the torque output you feel in the pedal on a 2.5 is just non comparable to a 2.0. well thats my opinion anyway

sorry thought the number would be easyer. will use the link in future

the whole dash is in german so it makes it kinda tricky to work out what is what. but i noticed there is a light at the botttom of the dash which is red and goes out about 2 seconds after start up which i would have asumed to be the oil pressure light. as for the other light it is a amber colour and the car certanly has oil pressure. but i know the oil level is low do these veichles have a oil level light or just a pressure light?

have cleaned up the e46 engine today. it is the facelift model with the twin cam 4 pop 2 litre as the 318. i believe its a n46 or something. i have a couple of oil leaks. one was easy to find. it was the power steering resiviour lid missing. also found one around where the oil filter unit bolts to the block i think its number 6 in the following http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=11&fg=30 i also noticed one somewhere around the back right hand top corner. now i am not sure if its the vacume pump seal or the rocker cover gasket as i cannot see clearly enough. which would be the most lightly one? ohh and to save me posting another thread i need all of the mensioned parts too. so if anyone has anything please let me know cheers oli

in the spare time ive collected whilst not having a liscence i thought it would be time to give the e46 a birthday. i havent started the service yet as it has a couple of oil leaks and want to locate them first. i took the top cover off and found the cap for the power steering reseviour missing. this may be half my problem. so i need one of them before i can continue leak hunting

ok. tinkering with the e12 520 last weekend and noticed 2 things. 1. key removed and lights turned off. the left front and left rear park lights were still on. any reason why? 2. theres a light above the temp guage on the right hand side of the cluster saying oel. its yellow and this is always on too. even with the key removed. what is it?

i work at a ford dealership. are we talking the fpv gt or the gtp.? no one has disclosed a top speed because no one has had to remove the limiter yet. but i would imagine it would be good for 280 to 300k. it would also vary depending which gearbox you have
