  1. hey getting myself another e30 next week. so i pulled out the sounds from the cordia and am going to put them in e30. they consist of head unit 4ch amp 6.0" front speakers with seperate tweeters and a 12"sub. no rears. dont like rears never have never will. anyway. the head unit and amp and sub i can install myself easily enough. but im not sure on how easy it would b to put the speakers and tweeters in. does anyone know if i can fit the 6.0" speakers into the kick panels where the old ones went? and where to put the tweeters? as i want to flush mount the tweeters so that requires a 40mm diameter hole. can anyone help me out here???? cheers oli
  2. hey guys. i might be getting myself a manual e30 325i this week. i took it for a drive and oh man its got alot more grunt than my 320 used to. haha. the plan is when i get it to do a few things to maximise the power from this engine. nothing too drastic as this is my daily. just got a couple of questions 1. when i get the exhaus done i want it to be reasonably loud but not stupidly loud. but overall i want it to increase the horses a little. so im doing a system from the manifold back. what size pipe should i go and what mufflers would you recomend using? and should i use a single pipe or keep it like the factory one with twin pipes? 2. i want to keep the panel filter in it but want abit more flow. so am thinking about something like a k. and n filter or i think someone recomend bcm filter? anyone got the rundown on this and weather going with a pod filter will be beter or not? 3 if i replace the visciouse fan with a electric one will i acheive much? cheers oli
  3. he guys. ok im getting sick of my peice of sh*t cordia as my everyday car and i need another e30. it has to be manual it has to be somewhere close to wellington it has to be facelift and im probly asking a bit too much but lowered legit on some nice mags not chromes with some kind of kit would be nice. ive got $3500 to spend. anyone?????? cheers oli oh and prefrably a 325i
  4. i was reading a post just before and someone said that there is a difference between a pfl 320i airflow meter and a fl 325i airflow meter. my pfl one fits and everything but i hav a problem of the engine failing under any kind of load. they also said there was a difference in the fuel pumps?? can anyone confirm this and if they are different does anyone have the fuel pump and airflow meter from a fl 325i with motronic 1.3? cheers oli
  5. i just rebuilt a m20b25 a few months ago. i stripped and built it about 6 times to ensure i had it all right. the first time i missed out the oil pump drive. its a little shaft that goes from the auxilary drive (where a mechanincal dissy goes) to the pump. about the size of a pencil. did you put that in? also do you know if the oil pump was working before the rebuild???
  6. ok... how much do you know about cars? and how much do you know about e30s? this swap can be done. but its not something you can do within a couple of hours, what gearbox have you got? i wouldnt bother doing it with a auto box. i am half way through a 320i to 325i conversion and its being a absolute pig. you wil have to decide what computer system you are going to use and wheather the computer system will work with your gearbox. then you will need to get the new engine. you may aswell strip the engine and overhaul it while its out. then you have to get the correct wiring loom and the computer and you may have to get things such as new radiator. distributor. front pullys ect depending on if your car is facelift or not and what the computer system is your running. then once you have done all that you will have to splice the engine loom into the fusebox. and there is probably alot i have missed. if you have know clue what i just said then do lots of research and plan exactly what you want to do before you start anything hope this helps. oli
  7. i thought id just put this out there for interests sake. heres a list of what i believe are the best bakes and cars ever built and a little reason why. please post up your list and a reason just to see what everyone thinks 1. ford model T this has to be number one for being such a feat of engineering to design the first afordable production car 2. britton bike. this bike was designed and built in a back shed. by hand, by one guy and went out and outperformed brands such as ducati. 3. fod mustang. yes although everyone know about the mustang and they were everywhere in there time. they had alot of compition from things like the dodge charger and couger and pontiac firebird etc etc but this car still is being made today. 4.audi quattro. the first 4wd passenger car produced. very ahead of its time. 5. y2k. whoever had the idea of putting a helecopter jet on a moterbike and actualy had the guts to do it deserves some recognition.

  9. took the e30 down the street today for its first drive. my adrenalin is still pumping haha. i started my engine rebuild which ended up becoming a complete racecar rebuild in march last year when i picked up my 2.5 engine from a friend put it on the back seat of the e30 and struggled to get it out again. haha. well so far about 4k later and a whole lot of my time. it drives atlast. well did... it wasnt running properly when i took it out. it kinda stalls if it doesnt like the throttle position. so thats a little bit of a balancing act. and it snapped the throttle cable on the way up the driveway. haha typical..... it had no lights no dash no bonnet no interior exept the seat the steering wheel and the instrument cluster tapet to the steering collum. still got heaps of work to go but i am getting through it. this is my first ever attempt of any kind of rebuild or anything. so i thought to hell with it ill just jump in the deep end. so more than anything this car is a biiiiiig learning curve for me. but to just drive down the road made me feel on top of the world. will send some pictures as soon as i get a decent pc that wont crash everytime i try haha
  10. asuming this is a e30 there are two bolts on top. they are a real pain to get if you do not move the engine forward as when you rock the engine back and the gearbox down the engine sits on the firewall preventing you from getting the bolts. aslo have to remove slave cylinder which is something like a 11mm bolt. and the starter moter. i found the starter moter was easyer to remove from the top. just under the intake manifold.
  11. to be honest i cant say i have ever tried it. but i do imagine it would work. is this the 3.1 stroker kit we are talking about here? i believe all the m20s use the same bottom end but just have different strokes so as long as that is true and your pistion and bore diameters match up with that from the stroker kit then there shouldnt be a problem. if not just get a 2.5 moter and stroke it.
  12. hey guys. i have a 304 schrick cam in my m20b25 and i need some stronger springs to run with the cam. does anyone know where i can get some??? cheers oli. also have a little problem of the valves just touching the pistons when running. not when you turn it by hand. will the stonger springs resolve this or will i need to gring out my pistons a little?

  14. hey. i need to know how and if you can adjust the air and fuel mixture on the m20s with motronic 1.3 theres a little screw on the air flow meter but i believe that is for setting the base idle. this car does not hav o2 sensors. cheers. oli
  15. hey guys. i am building a e30 race car. its about half way through. i am currently using stock ecu to run it but its not the best. i am going to get a link computer. can someone please give me some info on what exactly you can control with it and how to interface with it etc etc????
  16. just out of curiosity how much performance would you loose by going carby? because i am planning to do this in my e30 and the idea of the project is to have something different and it will be a fun track car. would you still get some decent performance when you also whack on a lumpy cam and extractors etc??????

  18. the plan (if any) would be to completely rip out every single wire in the car hang a ljet dizzy down the side of the block and make my own wiring oh and get a smaller fuel pump and there realy shouldnt be toooo much more to it than that
  19. does anyone know if the old carby 6cyl bemer manifolds will fit onto a m20 head? if i can get a manifold to fit then the rest is just plain sailing
  20. yeh you are right as there is sweet f.a advantage but how many e30s to you see driving around with sidedrafts on them?
  21. i was looking through my haynes manual for the e30 the other day and noticed it mentioned carby moters a few times and then i thought. (being a huge carby fan) how easy would it be to decide to be different and carby my fl m2ob25 engine. ok i figured i would have to replace intake manifold and dizzy and fuel pump and filter and pull out all the loom etc but i was just wondering if it would be a mamoth job or weather it is feisable???
  22. hey guys. got a 1985 325i race car. it runs but not driving atm. making custom dash for it. engine fully recond plus lumpy cam. koni adjustable rear shocks with k.s super low springs. bilstien front shocks with the thicker struts and k.s superlows. 17s 2 spare diffs one of them has shot peined internals with redline racing oil. 2 1/4 inch exhaust system from headers back completely stripped out inside exept for 2 seats. just curiouse on what is is worth when all going sweet etc??????
  23. m2ob25 racing cam. brand new steel billet 304 degrees rotation with 11.8mm lift. has been run for around 3 or 4 hours. so is all bedded in etc. its a little too lumpy for my needs. will take cash for it but preffer a swap for a slightly less lumpy cam ie 280degrees interested? call or text 0212158039 0273121998 cheers oli
  24. how hot has the car engine got? like have u completely overheated it? when the car gets hot check the radiator hoses if one is cold and the other is hot the the overheating problem is a stuck thermostat. has it been smoking for a while or is it a sudden thing? and if its smoking alot like u said i would suspect that the car has over heated which would posibly cause the headgasket to fail. you may have also cracked the head which would explain the oil burning either that or you may have frozen up your rings causing oil to flow round them. this would be found by alot of air coming out the oil cap or the dipstick hole. and it would run prety rubbish. please carry out a few of these test and let us know so we can narrow down the problem
