Genuine Motorsport-16-18k.

Poor fuel quality can cause the knock amoung other things.

The knocking could be concerning, did the owner say anything about this?

All typical things for an M52TU/M54, the rocker cover gaskets are common and not serious at all. The oil cap sludge is also common, people get paranoid when they see this but due to there being a splash guard just under the oil cap old oil tends to build up on it, take the rocker cover right off and it'll be a different story. The powersteer leak will be old hose clamps on the reservoir, these leak on all BMWs of this era, just replace with new ones and the leak will stop. The cooling system problems, as everyone will know are typical also, the side tank and thermostat will need replacing. All things you can use to bargain with the owner.

The exhaust will be the only "engine" upgrade, Schnitzer never made an S3 ti or enhanced them. Suspension and exhaust would have been fitted as an option in Japan or where ever it came from.
-
Still a fair price.

The kms are fine! Looks nice, E39 530s are very nice cars with the boogie to match.

Those window rattles are nasty, very common for the nuts to loosen, usually don't have to pull window out to get to them though. You did quite a journey by the sounds of it.
-
They tend to sound like that anyway.

They are in that picture, but they turn off after self test except engine, seatbelt etc etc.

We get trained technical stuff about the brand, fitting plastic shrouds is billy basic. Some people are incompetent. Can't be helped. Although when working for a premium brand attention to detail is rule one.

Says who? I use it here. -
Specialists wouldn't have had dealer training, not that you need training to do a basic oil service. The place sounds like a joke to me.

They do.

All the import ones that we've seen have been far better spec'd, NZ ones are quite boring with their spec sheets.
