First drive, have to say very nice indeed!
-
Haven't read the whole thread, assume the door cards are gone?

Mines two speed which until last week didn't realise the second gear selector was jammed closed so released it and now as soon as it hits second it's just brutel, it's got plenty more speed in it after 80kph but haven't been keen on going anymore...
-
Just remember.......if you're turning right, give way.

Was thinking of getting into it but whilst searching trademe I found the excitment of nitro cars, soooo much fun had my one for a year or so, had it up to around 80kph which is just epic! This is just one of many pull aparts due to crashing, expensive to keep going but huge amount of fun!

318-M3, little price difference.

Quality, no. Function, yes. I don't own or condone BC, just saying.
-
Firing order is the key to the way they sound, simply due to fuel consumption, if you own an M car who cares about consumption!!!

E65 wasn't BMWs best work that's for sure, the N62 lets the model down due to excessive oil leaks. Can't say i've witnessed ECU failures though, this is an Australian telling the story.

A descent PROPER cold air induction kit will cost anywhere from $500, no point otherwise, a pod is a hot air intake so you're just losing precious HP that a 318 doesn't really have.

Wasn't exactly rocket science but unfortunately people will consist on abiding by the old rules resulting in crashes, fights, both verbally and more than likely physically....this is NZ after all. P.S For people doing this test, making it night time doesn't change the giveway rule. Just putting it out there.

Who "supervises" their car when its being worked on?

I can't speak for Ben but we have our guns set on a low torque when doing wheels so when we go to torque the wheels with the wrench they're done to factory spec, eg 120nm for 1,3 and 5 series, 130nm for X and 7 series etc. -
I'd drive it, roof down with the epic noise of a high strung straight six screaming away at 100kph.

The main principle of the torque wrench is to torque to a certain spec that you have set......but it is also peice of mind that the nuts/studs are tight, doesn't matter if the wrenchs have been dropped, still lets you know that the wheel is tight, as i previously said, never trust rattle guns to tighten a wheel, EVER. -
The M44/42 only has a pre O2 sensor so you can safely remove the cat and fit in a coby, straight pipe will sound ugly. Fitting a single mass flywheel with sprung clutch should improve acceleration as the dual mass flywheels are uber heavy. Wouldn't bother with supercharging. Bigger engine would be best option but lots of dicking around.

Didn't even realise we still had a WTCC, no coverage here

Everytime i take a wheel off then put on with rattle gun i recheck torque with a torque wrench, never trust a gun. -
To the unsuspecting eye it's an M3, just without the reinforced subframe, strut towers etc. I'm guessing the unanswered questions will be pointing out the obvious.
-
Plenty of coil overs do that, even the cheap BC golds you can put the chassis basically touching the ground and still have the spring captive, typical american marketing.
