2014 F20 .. recommendations for coding audio
rogan replied to rogan's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Installed a pair of CDT Unity 8+. Homemade 0.12L sealed A pillar about 2 months sgo. 500hz up at 24db slope. Really happy with the outcome. I did a basic tune before they’d broken in and yey to do a proper tune. Intend to get a CSL umik-1 but wifey has a tight rein on my playmoney and theres a few other things i need more urgently. Stage is higher and centre is strong. They really highlight how bad the FM radio is, but come alive on higher def streaming. cost was us$160 + $20 shipped to the hotel when we were in the US on holiday. Otherwise would have been Us$160+ $80 shipping to Nz . Pillars are lined with headliner fabric. Not a perfect job but good enough. At some stage I’ll try tightening the fabric into the speaker mount as drivers side has 2 small creases that should stretch out.. -

Its not F1, it’s DD Linear DLX-F177 speakers.i had the same tweeters and they were good but nothing super special. Not sure if theres much value in it. Rip out headunit and processor. Replace with some BT / carplay unit with onboard DSP. Then rip out rear screens and boot speakers and sell them off. Used old gear doesn't have a market here so wouldnt expect to recover much from it.

Sounds like the 6cyl diesel would be the one to get. We have a 530d F10 and it’s been great; i’d take it over any of the F10 petrols. Go test drive an F31 330/335d .

My mum has some trousers in the same fabric, but I can’t picture her in a M5. A Honda Jazz with that interior might sell well tho.

Needing Tyres for 118d and price comparison including Costco
rogan replied to Only118d's topic in Wheels & Tyres
Thanks for the offer. I have brutal kerbs outside my house and am surrounded by judder bars. I need to remember this is my kids learn to drive car so probably best I stick to 16s. Less kerbing and cheaper to replace. those style 383 do make me doubt my decision tho.- 9 replies

How were 17 runflats on msport suspension? I went from 18 non rft (budget tyres) to 16 rft. Like the comfort but they dont really look right.- 9 replies

Organisational failure saw Environment Canterbury fail to reprimand the chairperson after he clocked almost 700 speeding incidents. That's what the council are saying after chairperson Peter Scott, who has now stepped down, exceeded the speed limit in a council-provided car 678 times since January, with a top speed of 157km/h. https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/10/11/how-678-speeding-violations-by-the-boss-went-unnoticed-at-ecan/

2014 F20 .. recommendations for coding audio
rogan replied to rogan's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Anyone have any experience with wideband drivers. I’m intrigued by these https://www.esbcar.com/3000-series-components/3-65 $250-$300 for a pair I have my tweeters in the dash corners at the bottom of the A-pillars vertically on axis and horizontally slightly toed in. Very happy with the way they sound. But not really happy with the midrange in the doors as the left and right have really different sound profiles due to location and axis. So thinking the ESBs in custom pods in the bottom of the A pillar angled like the tweeters are now. Pods would be vented into the dash. If they can play 200hz up and tweeterless then I can go straight from the underseat 8s to these and get all vocals point sourced. Think next step is to get a 40mm length of 75mm PVC pipe and get an idea of how they’d fit into the base of the A-pillar. -

I kick the front bottom of my door panel every time i get into or out of my F20. Those mids would be trashed within a week.

One more piece of the puzzle nearly finished. Sub not in cos the bolts were too short to reach the T nuts. Will be at Bunnings first thing tomorrow.
