  1. ive done wheels before for cash, $20 each for blasting and $20 powder coating per rim, but on these i wanted the lips machined to remove kerbing and restore the little edge detail. Agreed $450 the set but ended up paying $600 due to 2 rims requiring straightening. I think that would probably still be a good deal north of the Bombays. Lesson learned, next time ill get them to spin the wheels up before we agree a price. ha ha bastards. still they have done a good job, the paint work is real good barring a couple of specs. silky smooth and real glossy. Almost a shame to put them on the car.....almost. If you get rims blasted separately make sure they are not done too coarse and that they leave the bead alone. Now all i need is some new lock screws.

    pics of oil pan contents added. I was pleasantly surprised after seeing pics on other forums showing 5 or 6 bolts have fallen out. That coking looks bad........

You're right - you are pointing out the obvious the dock had wires running from the rear ashtray area back to the rear seat, thats what i cut thinking is was aftermarket wiring taking power from the battery in the boot via that route.. off to google e30 wiring diagram unless someone has committed to memory....
  4. Have just done this job without remiving intake. Make sure you get the green o ring for the hard line on the pass side, I needed the oring for the other end of the pipe cos I dislodged it. Was tricky with intake insitu. If youchange to hex head get thick heads or bolts with a female hex socket.
  5. Selling on behalf of a family member. 1986 325i Auto with sportshift cloth interior, blue with cloth recaro fronts under the covers - these have rips on driver side. Lowered on jamex springs, std shocks AC works blows nice and cold Re-painted (blow-over) in cirrus blau. Good rotors and pads recent oil and filter change has been regularly serviced over last 4 years The bad is due for timing belt change soon (age not mileage) needs valve guide seals done, car puffs a little blue on start up, or just live with it. oil leak (i believe it is the front cam seal) Up close some faint sanding scratches show in certain light. Sanding was done by current owner. Paint was done by a professional and is good, just being upfront. $2500 on these rims

    While waiting for PCV orings i dropped the oil pan and found a chunk of alloy in the oil pickup, probably blocking about 50%, and a piece of plastic which i figure is from the chain guides. The alloy looks like a flat tab of casting, not a bearing ..... Thats an m6 oil pan bolt for reference. My oil pump bolts were all good but there was a lot of slack on one side of the pump chain. I googled the sh*t out of this in the absence of a manual and all the american M60 stuff shows a sprocket cover and allen key adjuster. Mine has no cover and the adjustment is by winding down a hex bolt. Chain slack in now 10mm both sides. Did the o rings on the feed pipe and put one where there was none on the govenor pipe. All back together, bolts locktited, fresh oil, filter. Chain rattle on start up is gone, no oil leaks and running smooth.
  9. Fixed my e39 boot catch with the carby spring off a 77 mercury outboard. Best of german fixed with best of american.....

    Started off looking to change the rocker cover gaskets and timing chain tensioner, that quickly led led to wrinkle painting covers, then i found the PCV plate was leaking...... Plate and valve look pretty new but the gasket was crystalized. Sourced the profile gasket from dealer and cover plugs from Euro italian. If anyone does this job without replacing the plate/valve remember to buy the o-rings rings required and some vice grips to get rid of those torx screws. now updated to hex heads. Now i'm thinking about whether to keep digging and do the intake gaskets and the valley pan.
  11. Very clean, same body and wheels as my '96 528i. You have me thinking about lows now, that is a nice height.
  12. Check ABS or non-ABS? you will want the bracket if so.

  14. Thanks to the honda owners of NZ for another set of e30 wheels, covered in matt black paint. Off getting refurbed . 16x7.5 et30 Will be going on my red e30.

  17. Replaced the timing chain tensioner and the intake boot on the 540i this car is too big for my garage.
  18. How would bad coils blow the FP fuse? I think you have found the problem. If i was DIY'ing that I would first replace the fuel filter(s). If that fails test the pump and go from there. Working with fuel gives me the shits however so i would get a working 2nd hand pump from Ray or BMW World and pay the man to swap it out. Replace your filter(s) at the same time.
