Cheers for that, managed to get hold of a 'stat from Qualitat for 38 plus 4 for o-ring (1/3 or prices elsewhere) so will pop that in tomorrow. Nothing else will hypercool a motor so far as I can see!

My audi runs an 87 degree thermostat which is visually in good condition, with hot/ cold water both opens well and shuts tightly, respectively. But I wonder, can an old 'stat come out of calibration? It is not a cheap item in this car to replace. When running, the engine is hot hot (turbo). --The ECU takes fuel trim temp off a sensor on the block, and the engine runs well no rich exhaust smell. --The temp gauge needle, which reads from a 'multi function sensor on coolant line under manifold, in traffic runs at 87 degrees, but will lower when cruising at 100kmh. --Climate control heater water temp sensor which reads from coolant near heater core (hidden function) reads similar if a little lower than needle, but rises and lowers proportionately to gauge needle. I have already had the 'stat out, thus am not immediately keen to remove it again and check function with a thermometer. Yet. Does anyone have educated/ experienced suggestions or advice for me? They all do it I am sure, unless perhaps classic cover or the like. Get it revalued each year, can generally be any car yard/dealer

Pretty good cars, parts a bit harder to find than an older bmw. No rust which is a bonus. Transmission is what I would focus on, whether manual or auto make sure it changes nicely

The kit looks like one that has been copied and had the edges rounded off too smoothly to be that old, as do the side skirts. But note I say 'looks'. Perhaps just a thick coat of extra shiny paint makes it look how it does, or the shitty wheels.

Prices are now in the reach of the kinds of unintelligent show offs who thrash them and eventually crash spectacularly perhaps.

Humor is marginal in these I reckon, pretty trivial. Its not really such a nice thing when you're at the receiving end of 'bloody Maori' 'Asian' or 'gay' slurs etc. Whether lighthearted intent or not, the fundamentals can come across as pretty cutting

I know the owner of this car, he is a good guy and a good auto electrician so you can be sure that it won't have any gremlins of that sort. It is looked after, and not his daily driver.

Have to agree on that one that while pretty uninspiring in most ways the E39 is a more acceptable looking car than the E60, then the new Fxx 5 is great again

I saw them filming an advert for it at Westhaven at the end of summer, it was certainly less staunch than the current model, and with a fatter luggage compartment sort of like a CRV. It looked good in brown

Hey cheers for that, seems to be solved, I've had both doors apart before doing the cable-tie regulator fix and saw no damp patches or other evidence

Fingers crossed problem fixed, 2 top corners of windscreen outer seal have foam corners which were disintegrating or damaged and certainly letting water in. Lifted edge of rubber seal and filled void left by foam once removed, with silicone sealant. No damp smells in the lasts periods of rain. I should add that both A pillar furry coatings are a bit wavy and peeling, I had thought bad quality but may have been water.
