Once I bought a crappy one from trademe, then swapped it for the bonnet one on my mums brand new car... She was none the wiser!

My 1.9L 318iS had a STUFFED maf, and did not throw any codes.

Strange, as both the control/spool valve and also the pump are such basic hydraulic devices which should be able to put up with a degree of leak-past before it feels like there is no steering at all.
-
True, lobes and also actual camshaft radial wear causing play apparently.

Pretty sure it's not the eccentrics wearing that will cause clatter, but the pad on top of the valve. Thus when the feeler gauge is placed between the eccentric surface and the now-concave pad, it will give the clearance between the eccentric and the outer/uppermost limit of pad, as opposed to the eccentric and the inner/lower most depth of the pad. The first method is still nonetheless the correct way to do the clearances and put up with the noise. Inspect the eccentrics, inspect the pads. Also perhaps check the cam followers for wear. EDIT: P.S we read that they are noisy, but the only noise my M10's (essentially a shortened M30) have had when in good tune was a whisper and the click clack of injectors. I replaced the timing chain on one M10 at 125,000km due to an OCD- inducing clatter when warm and it became whisper quiet. 'Was very cheap by getting a master-linked aftermarket chain wound on by a competent mechanic. About $210 including parts. I have a spare, new chain also: simplex M10 fitment, unsure if M30's took the same simplex chain or not. (the diagnostic process on this went over the head of every mechanic I took it to)

Do you slide a screwdriver etc into the blue part and use it to lift out the plug leads?
-
Rug doctor does work, it takes a long time- did it on my Audi a few months ago. Doctor is not so good on loop pile that I'm sure an E21 has. On my E30 when I had the interior out I just removed the carpet and scrubbed/ water blasted it. It's pretty thin crappy stuff so doesn't hold much dirt.

Mini is a brand that BMW felt like purchasing.... It would be as sacrilegious to introduce a 5L coupé under the MINI brand.
-
All the changes in bmw these days make you think that maybe they should have years ago introduced a sort of sub- brand under a different umbrella? Best of both worlds etc without having to dilute anything

I was admiring this in Kerikeri a few days ago when my cousin came along and happened to be the owner! It will be a legit sale as he works on yachts in the northern hemisphere. The car looks great, paint is perfect. Is on lowered springs which aren't so nice, but he bought it like that.

Cool ride, wicked sound, feel like a boss driving one of these! Best axle articulation of any 4x4 (if the same setup as the 3 door?)

Confused? http://www.itgetsbetter.org/

Filiform corrosion. So yeah, whip the clearcoat off, refinish the wheel then re-seal.

Unsure of actual cost, but if weighing up Thailand vs. NZ: I can confirm (had)- Nose, $12k. I hear it's about 4 or 5 in Thai. Single root canal/extraction $2600 NZ, I hear about 1k Thai. A friend got her tits done here: $11k, another had them done in Thailand: 6k

As much as I slag off P-plates, yours Dylan is more stylish. How did you get it? Yanking on strings?

That stuff the cat-like creatures sh*t out. No I haven't had that, but in my real world it would have to be Melba Vulcan lane, whatever they use. Soy or regular flat white, or regular cappuccino with toasted croissant amande to take away.

Its not very needly, just feels like dragging a compass across your skin but not really penetrating

Hmm true, i though that they seemed a little different. Still pretty sweet

Maxmax has some on his 3.5L M325i, offer him swapsies for some other wicked wheel or pile of dollars

Mine is specifically above short sleeve shirt height, as the sight of a tattoo inspires prejudice which may be detrimental in any, be it business or personal dealings. It wasn't that long ago where tattoos were not a part of the western or at least western middle class world- thus there is still a negative hangover. No point in fighting it, easier to please the masses.

I have a reasonable sized anchor on my shoulder and am 110% comfortable with it now and in the future. It's almost impossible to explain why we get tattoos as it certainly isn't a decision formed like the purchase of a house, or the ending of a relationship. Decision to get a tattoo aside, my anchor (which will at some stage have a siren and stormy sea added somewhere) related to my family's long history around water of whom I am one of the few continuing.
