The 46 is Spartan in comparison, there is no value in a 46, we looked at a few before getting a 05 Vectra, a 46 with equivalent spec (3.2ltr, heated electric leather seats, low KMS, 6 airbags + more) would have cost three times as much! A well specked facelift E39 540i will set you back near thirty though. As for manual, they are easier to obtain in Europe, maybe an avenue to look down.

Wrong way round, shocks should come before springs. You wouldn’t buy a motorcycle with the intention of buying a helmet when money allows now would you! I would save a little longer and do the front shocks at the same time, some BOGE Turbo’ are a worthwhile replacement and are cheap, doing both at once will save on installation. As said these are more a Grand Tourer and less a Sports Car, was following a couple round Taupo track last year and had to laugh at their uselessness. Also, maintenance can be a bit tricky on them, they are reliable enough but when something does need doing it is expensive. Would sooner a much newer and faster Subaru Legacy GT. Do they go hard??

Take that away and you have a fwd chassis with power going in the wrong direction.. I would love to see someone race a RWD EVO and put down good times. Oh it’s a professional drift car, that makes more sense.

Look at NZ new if you can afford it, that way there are no ifs and maybes and the premium you pay to buy you will get back when you sell. I contacted this dealer regarding a car a while back and he told m unless I was going to pay asking price do waist hiss time, so I didn’t… it was still listed 6 months later for nearly 10 grand cheaper than he was originally asking.. I hope this “recession†has given him a lesson in business.

Just wondering. There seems to be quite a few for sale at any one stage and most sellers advertise them as rare and collectable.. I love the vert and think majority of them have been maintained to a higher level than your average E30 but they seem to be no more rare than any other E30 in good nick.

I thought the E39 had stability control? Could never get mine to do anything remotely exciting.
