    Driveshaft

Cheers. I still have my original shaft off the auto so I can at least have a play around but I know what you mean by the spline, when we put it together we weren't positive what the alignment phase should be.
  2. Gents, this is not off-topic and is obviously heading down the stupid lane
  3. ScD is right If you've seen some of the roads in UK and Europe you can understand how easy it is given their speed limit is 70mph but alot do 80+ (including my aunt who drives at 90mph everywhere she can). It just seems to me like there's a small culture of speed coupled with a relaxed attitude towards it. Sure, if it was in NZ then lets all go tut tut, but it wasn't. Should point out, however, that very few cars can get anywhere near 250kph on any of NZ's race tracks, especially not an M3, so it can't be saved for the racetrack leaving only one place to do it.

    Driveshaft

You can keep your center bearing, it's just the housing that's different between preFL and FL. As Tane said, the rear shaft is universal, the front shafts are of different lengths for the different boxes. Where does one go to get driveshafts balanced?

    M-Tech II

Keep an eye on trademe although ebay is your best bet if you're after a wing. Moulding is possible but hard work and never seems to eventuate. Just drop your car, the facelift looks fine as it is when dropped, IMO

    LSD

So long as you know what the gear ratios are in the gearbox then it's all good Hmmm, the new M6 will happily rev to 8500rpm, still nowhere near the vincinity of a f1 engine or a honda ...damned vt@k 2-strokes

    BMW on TV

As Andy said...my fluid isn't even a year oldGenuine fuel filters but not fussed on the oil filter. Air filter never gets replaced

    BMW on TV

Yes, i'm due for a fuel and oil filter change, just trying to decide which bloody oil grade and brand to use! Brake fluid needs changing before intermarque aswell, it's gone all hydroscopicaletic on me

    LSD

The diff ratio won't affect power or torque, just your gearing, ie, how fast you accelerate through the gears and what your top speed is going to be.Don't listen to what others say Matt, you're going to have to make your own judgement using my fabulous spreadsheet PM me your email addy and i'll email you it
  12. Meh, I haven't liked any of the latest Ferrari's, give me a F40 any day over one of those.

    Manual P.Box

???I've got a pre-fl manual pedal box in a fl car...am I missing something here?
  15. There was no O2 sensor on my cat, only the overheat sensor. Besides, isn't the O2 sensor closer to the manifold, it doesn't have anything to do with the cat.
  16. Resonators are a straight through muffler but their sound muffling effectiveness varies. They can also help with the exhaust flow due to the expansion and contraction of the gasses but I don't know how and to what degree the effectiveness is.

    Where to next?

Holla on the full suspension upgrade (including bushes and sway bars) Z3 lever is an easy DIY must Rims are a personal choice but 16" is the money size IMO Possible extas are colour coding, blacking out chrome, euro plates, clear indicators...list is endless
  18. My understanding is that NZ model cars (E30 and E34 for example) did not have cats installed as standard. The cat is a carbon filter that gets clogged up over time so yours may simply have clogged up too much making it easy to overheat. You need to get rid of it. Removing it, however, will increase your carbon emissions. I cut my cat out and replaced it with two resonators. The improvement was immediately noticeable. E: Whether I pass or fail an emissions test will be something else.

    1989 m325 for sale

I'll just chip in and say that I have met Liam and i've seen this car in person before to rule out Liam as a dealer. It's a shame people have to have a post in every thread they see, and no it's not directed at you Martyn as I see your post is valid. This thread needs a filter and a lock.

    Grrr. E36 Drama's

I've experienced this. I'm not sure on the E36 layout but check all the plastic/rubber piping on the intake side for cracks, it's as common as syphalis on the E30's for the rubber cock connecting the AFM and throttle body to split causing exactly what you describe. Cheers
  21. Haha, i'll tell you what, remind me tomorrow and i'll buy you a pretzel
  22. Excellent! Your shout tomorrow then aye

    Pre FL, FL ecu diffs

Just get the zone chip to go with the FL ECU, at $145 it's cheap and then at least then you can have a 6800 or 7000 limit depending on the chip choice plus some advanced timing

    Sway Bars

I bet you'd rethink that going into coke sideways at speed
  25. Full cover. The peace of mind is worth more than the cost. $450 pa through state with $500 excess because of mods, was $250 before I disclosed the changes. I haven't enquired whether a f/ex gives a discount, will ring em and see...watch this space -> State don't give discounts for having a f/ex but they did note it on my policy as having one. As for compulsory insurance I believe this to be a very good thing. They should also accentuate the scale of cost per power making turbo'd cars more difficult for learners to have. It means that first time NZ drivers will find it financially difficult to own a powerful car. Cases in point are learner/restricted teenagers with mitsi evos or scoobydoo turbos. The other case is foreign drivers here on holiday or for study are also forced to have insurance which will solve a few problems up in Auckland I hear. Too many ppl skip the country before resolving disputes.
