I went from electric to manual windows. Pretty sure manual windows added weight lol.
-
Uh oh! Sounds like the story of my old track hack. Heaps of fun ahead of ya Nath
-
Don't forget most of them have lots of rattles. Poo, unadjustable suspension. Poor soundstages. Terrible steering. Tappets need doing all the time. Stupidly slow. Super soft chassis. Unless you're lucky $$$ will need to be spent on bushes. Mtech kits scrape on everything. Coupes and tourings are overpriced. Sedans are boring. You're welcome to a drive of the touring before my box of goodies gets installed, the wobblyness is sure to put you off

FOR SALE E30 6 CYLINDER H&R SPRINGS.
JiB replied to SUSPENSION's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Hi, what are the spring rates? Cheers. -
Oh wow, that's stunning! Goodluck with the cert If you ever want to swap for a mint touring, let me know
-
GLWS Mike Last time I saw your E30, she was still a minter!
-
Is there a ETA for these wheels yet?
-
^ I like keeping track of it, lets me know if something may be wrong. 24L/100km around Hampton Downs
-
I'm anal, I keep a log book. The touring's very good on gas. I do 9L/100km +/- 0.7L. City + commuter traffic mainly. Sees at least one spirited drive a day though.
-
I can't find it, I'm member, do you mean the fuel watch stuff?
-
Lol, amazing is definitely not the word I'd have used. I went to pick up some round bar and chromoly tube - turns out the touring didn't like long things. Returned with an corolla which fitted it no problems On another occasion, I went to pick up some core for the monocoque - thanks to the funny rear lights that didn't fit either But that said, if transporting soft goods, I'm sure the touring is able to fit a decent amount! Another annoying thing is the rain that dribbles down when opening the boot. I can see why my boot cover is water stained! Btw, what are you guys getting for fuel consumption? I'm doing 9L/100km, I drive reasonably enthusiastically when the opportunity arises too.
-
Well, how much do you want just for the fronts? I'm not that keen on the rears.
-
The rears wouldn't work in a touring would they?
-
Lol, techII tourings are infesting the Auckland region. Yours is very nice! Ah, right, makes sense. Yeah she's a nice little thing, does the daily duties well. Though, the load space and size is more like a hatchback than anything
-
Are they much harsher than factory? I want stiffer mounts like the IE ones in my coupe, but not sure the harshness is justifiable for a daily.
-
Looks good. I hope you've got rocker arm stoppers if you're planning on taking it beyond 7krpm regularly!
-
Lol it comes and goes.wasn't working when I dropped it off at the groomer's. Was just fine when I drove it back though
-
Would be keen as mustard for some 17's if they're like the basketweaves
-
Yup, which is why I'll be going to Swann when I need to use the touring as a daily.

Read the post above:

I meant a pedal box on standard E30 brakes - instead of spending all that money on calipers, etc. Probably the best advice yet.
-
I wonder whether an upgrade to a bias'd pedal box would be better? More access to the caliper's potential without the spongy bar in the way?
-
Love the Lock Stock quote Sigh, I have no 5 stud car - but will be biddinghave bid!

For the record, I used non-hubcentric rotors (+1mm), and I didn't have any shimmy. I think if I were to do it again, I'd get custom slip-on spacers with long studs. Less compliance than a bolt on solution I think. And with a custom slipon, you could have a staggered inner bore for non-hubcentric rotor gap and the rotor lip. The outer bore would then be the exact size you need for the wheels you choose. 17" wheels would be the easiest, the wheel choice narrows very very quickly as you go for a smaller diameter wheel.
