  1. Very interesting! Will be watching this avidly. The E46 must have been pretty badly trashed to make it a parts car, doesn't look too bad from the photos, but then I'm no expert like you guys. You don't happen to have a spare S14 engine coming out of the E30 M3 by any chance ?
  2. Here ya go... Distributed by Nationwide Accessories (Wholesale) Ltd - Ph: 07 847 5189 Fax: 07 847 4774
  3. I got some about a year ago and they were just under the $200 mark, apparently this has gone up for this season.
  4. Always worth a try mate, you never know what might turn up! Are you looking to join the E30 Race Series with your car? If so, once you have entered and paid your members fees you would get the special race series rate from the wholesaler which is a considerable discount over the list price and probably the best price you will get.
  5. The minimum period you can have the rego on hold is 3 months, however, you can get some rego before this 3 months is up but they will charge you from the date it was put on hold, not the date you get the new rego. Hope that makes sense!
  6. Have you got any pictures of the engine bay on the maroon one? Is it a 2 litre as per the auction, or 2.5ltr as per the badge on the back? Cheers, JTP.
  7. Most legal issues will get picked up at compliance, tints being one of them, I have bought imports that have had the tints removed at the compliance stage. However, it is possible that not everything is picked up at that point and something may get missed, but it's unlikely it would be something as obvious as tints. If it was missed at compliance then the fact that it was like that when it was imported would not help you out at WoF or stopped by the cops time. The law is the law, if it ain't legal at that point, then it ain't legal full stop. It would be impossible to prove the car was like that at time of importation (it's not docmumented) and that you hadn't just had the tints added. Are the tints on the car that you are looking at aftermarket add ons, or is it in the original glass? If it's in the glass then it should be marked as to what percentage tint it is, the markings are usually in the corner by the makers name, safety standards, etc.

Not sure if that's a compliment or not Ollie, but in the end the snowboarding was a lot like the Spanish play... lots of falling over and screaming! If that's supposed to be the best in world football today then you can stick it up your arse. It's supposed to be a contact sport, falling over then waving your arms around in front of the ref telling him to book someone is not a part of the game in my book. Unfortunately the guy who gets paid the least on the pitch has the most pressure to deal with and as usual was found wanting.
  9. Hey Johno, have you got a final price in mind for these? Also, would you be willing to split a set and sell in ones or twos? Cheers, JTP.
  10. It does what Foxy ??As usual from your good self, excellent stuff, how's it progressing now? Shame there's no engine bay dragon though....

I can't decide if I want the Germans to win, so the Dutch can beat them in the Final (revenge for '74) or whether I want Spain to win so there is no risk of the Germans beating the Dutch and winning it again! Certainly the Spanish and the Dutch will give Ze Germans a good game, I think the key is you have to start well and at a high tempo, to match the initial German charge. If they get in front the Germans have lots of pace and love playing on the counter attack as the other team has to chase the game and leaves a few gaps for them to expoit. Either way, it's another good excuse to get drunk in the morning on 12th July, supposed to be snow-boarding during the day, so that could be "interesting"
  12. Nothing wrong with imported cars in general, a few horror stories from back in time but I think most of the dodgy practices have been stamped out now. Whatever car you buy make sure to get it checked out, best off by a BMW specialist, rather than the AA. Provided it checks out Ok then there is nothing wrong with the import. Sellers do try to get a premium for NZ new cars, which may be worth it if you are after service history, etc. You would certainly have more options and a bigger range of choices if you go for imports, especially with the kind of cars you are interested in, I would't imagine there would be too many of those NZ new coming up for sale.

When you say Orange Day do you mean Queen's Birthday? A great excuse to wear ANYTHING, that is slightly orange and get completely trolleyed. The Orange colour is the official colour of the Dutch Royal Family, hence the famous name in European politics a few years back, Prince William of Orange which leads to slightly different form of Orange Day in Northern Ireland.Hup Holland Hup!!
  14. Maybe it was part of a limited edition, following on from the 4WD M3 323i E36 that was on TradeMe the other day? Or more likely it's another car dealer that doesn't know what they are selling, what do you expect from a Mitsi dealer?? Not as bad as this though, from a BMW main dealer.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-300141654.htm Never knew they made an E46 M3 Compact..
  15. Or the UK, when I moved over to NZ I was paying less in dollars for rego than I was in pounds for Road Tax and the exchange rate was just under three to the pound. There was a lower cost "classic" car tax for anything over 20 years old which would suit my E30 down to the ground.Compulsory insurance as well, no Road Tax without proof of insurance, which adds lots of $$$s to the bill for just a few kms per year. Limited use policies are possible but still not cheap. The first policy I got in NZ for a Legacy GT-B the lady at the AA said "those are quite expensive, its $420 fully comprehensive" and I LOL'd my 9 year old diesel Pug cost me twice as much as that 3rd party only in the UK!! All down to the ambulance chasers.
  16. There are two restriction classes Dan, the farm vehicles one I think is B, A is for vehicles that are only taken on the road for specific purposes, I think it says something like going to / from a WoF test, taking it to be worked on or for a "practical road test".My race car is registered under this class restriction as I don't use it on the road, except to take it for a WoF or to get it worked on (honest officer!). I think the 5,000km per year would still need a full license as some of that 5000kms would fall outside of the WoF / servicing trip. To reduce the costs on my cars I only license the vert for the 6 months of the summer and then put it on hold for the winter. Might be more suitable for the garage queen vehicle?
  17. I thought most of the 306s were built in Coventry at the old Rootes / Talbot factory?Thinking about it, I'm not sure which would be more of a problem, a car built after a two hour wine soaked lunch by a bunch of surrender monkeys or a car put together on any day of the week by a group of militant lefty want-to-be Brummies?? Either way the build quality will be the same, very plasticky, everything will rattle or squeak until it falls off or you tighten it up again. Don't get me wrong, I love Pugs, had a 205 Gti for 4 years and a 306 DTurbo from new for nine years, both great cars but there is a distinct difference in the fit and finish compared to a BMW.
  18. Wow , wow and indeed, wow That is a pretty awesome race machine, the fact that there are 6 in South Island is pretty incredible! Thanks for sharing the photos and info on the car, I learnt a lot from that. Definately another reason to get down to a meeting on South Island at some point!!

Undoubtedly got beaten by a better team, but I think the final score was not a fair representation of the game. Having to chase the game in the second half, even though we had got a valid equaliser not given, played into the Germans hands and our lack of pace at the back was shocking. I think I would still be quicker across the park than John Terry and Gareth Barry. At least it wasn't penalties again... Hup Holland Hup!!
  20. There was a 325i head and cam on TradeMe not long ago, in Palmy, for about $300. I can store it for you until next time your up this way if needed.I have an early m20b23 no idea on the cam / head differences but what you need can be yours for a dozen if you want?

    World Cup

There will only be 2 un-defeated teams in the World Cup Finals, the All Whites, and whoever wins it! Not a bad list to be on.Another huge effort and so close to going through, can't even rely on the Italians to grind out a nil-nil to help you through these days. Whole country and the team can be proud of their achievements.
  22. When they have scissors and a razor blade in the cell as well, anything is possible. Plus a plastic bag??Must have been a fan of Blue Peter! Gotta love French Cuisine

A few things I learnt last night which may come in handy for others tonight... 1) It's very dis-orientating to get woken by your alarm at 1.45am, and putting Sky / TV, etc. onto the right channel is ten times more difficult than normal! Noted for tonight. 2) Celebrating a goal without waking the rest of the family is VERY, VERY hard, silent "glory runs" are almost impossible to perform. Hopefully more practice tonigh to get better at it. 3) Drinking Stella and eating Twisities for 2 hours then makes it hard to go back to sleep! Oh well, it's only for a few more weeks... One through, one to go (fingers xd). Aussie - LOL, France, LMMFAO!!
  24. Under the profile the sellers name is "crystal" so anything is possible... Personally I think it is someone who knows no better that has been sold a crock by the previous seller, and is genuine.
