  1. Yeah, seems like a good idea, and saves the $$$s without the risk of getting the fine. When I got my plate transferred to the car, it was just the 20c mentioned.I might start trawling the TradeMe plates for a cheap Euro as well, as it's such a good idea... Reminds of the old joke about, why pay lots of money for a personal plate, just change your name by deed-poll to "CEY362"
  2. Looking good mate, looking good! Now there will be two of us trying not to scratch the paintwork in the Intermarques!!
  3. If you find a set of the pin stripes please post a linky up here, I would be keen for a set. Is that guy not selling on TradeMe anymore? A bit of double standards from me, given my stance on "M" badges on non-M cars, I know. But my Alpina reps are now sporting Alpina centre badges and I am thinking of going further with the badging....?
  4. Now THAT ^^^ is a LOL!As for the guy in the vids, it's a great argument for internet censorship I'm afraid!
  5. A bit too arty farty for me, well shot and produced video images but too many clips of the silly bint doing who knows what to the leather seat and spinning rev counters, and not enough of the actual car IMHO. Clip has potential, less of the bint more of the actual car.
  6. Another yes vote from me, but only because I am an old fart, so I buy old stuff that's in the $6.99 bin at the Warehouse. Anything remotely modern and mainstream comes from the net.
  7. Unfortunately you are right, there are a lot of "psychos" out there, as many of the people living on the streets have mental issues. Closing down the old style institutions and opting for "care in the community" has simply not worked, either in the UK or here in NZ, and these people are simply not capable of helping themselves. Not only is this a crying shame, but also dangerous as un-medicated people with serious mental illnesses can be very volatile and as such a danger to the general public. These people often cannot adapt to what we know as normal living conditions and the number of available places in halfway houses or sheltered accomodation are very limited, leaving very few options to the streets. The behaviour of many mental illnesses is often very similar to that of someone on drugs, in the case of the guy in the film I cannot decide which case it is but would not rule out either. In both cases, what some may see as a joke can provoke a very hostile and aggressive response. Yes some people are there on the streets due to their own choice of action, but there are many others who appear to be similar on the outside who are there for very different reasons.
  8. I think there are two different types of pre-facelift valence, the early ones are two piece and have a different attachement to the lip, later ones are single piece like the one in the pic.If no-one else wants it Nick, I'll take it of your hands for a box of beers and pick up at Hampton if you don't want to drag it all the way to Manfield?
  9. Some real nice cars there, would be great to see them in the flesh sometime. The DTM style E30 M3 is sex on wheels , does it belong to a Bimmersport member?
  10. My thoughts exactly Ollie, that's why I posted this up. Ignorance of the law is no excuse apparently? How you are supposed to keep up with all the changes is beyond me, and how well will other road users be aware of some of this stuff? I can just imagine what would happen if I tried a hook turn on a bike on the 1st November round here, I might just be able to mutter "don't you know the law has changed" as they cart me off on a stretcher into the waiting ambulance...
  11. In the usual manner, not all the information about changes to the road rules is being communicated, only the mobile phone ban is getting mentioned, full list of changes is: The full list of provisions in the amendment Rule covered in this document are: 1) the ban on the use of hand-held mobile phones when driving 2) the use of special vehicle lanes by vehicles not otherwise allowed on them 3) the correct wearing of seatbelts 4) the use of headlamps on moped and motorcycles during the day 5) allowing cyclists to make a hook turn 6) the use of mopeds or motorcycles on footpaths by postal services 7) the rights and duties of users of mobility devices and wheeled recreational devices 8) exemptions from arm signalling for cyclists at roundabouts 9) towing speeds for vehicles without a rigid towing system 10) parking a vehicle on the road margin 11) child safety locks in taxis 12) the use of blue beacons on vehicles 13) pedestrians waiting at pedestrian crossings 14) passenger service vehicles at level crossings 15) the use of safety chains on light trailers 16) requirements for cycle lights (must be visible for 100m) 17) priorities for use of shared paths by road users 18) Road Controlling Authorities’ marking of stopping places/stands 19) responsibility for the use of seat belts on buses Obviously not all apply to the average drive, but some do, for more details check out the Land Transport web-site here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/publications/road-...2009/index.html
  12. I was waiting for someone to blame the race series!! Undoubtedly it has increased demand for E30s which would push their market value up, supply v demand and all that. Certain E30s have gone up as a result, late 318i manual coupes, 320i manuals, etc. as have the price of the spares. But I think a lot of people are dreaming about their 4 door 318i auto being worth more as a result, or because E30s are "collectable classics"
  13. Nah, keep the 205, just lose the 306 quarter light and fuel cap.
  14. I think it's called Dreamer's Maths, goes something like: Value of car + cost of rims and tyres + cost of stereo + what ever else I've spent x 2 + dream factor So for the 318 auto it works out at: $500 + $1200 + $800 + $400 x 2 + $1200 = $4.5k for the car!! Notice their dream factor is the biggest part of their price, says a lot.
  15. What no Fush & Chups option???? Hmmm, wonder whats for tea tonight???
  16. Hard to look past the Triple 8 entry to win - reliable and quick. Murph and Skaife will be quick and competitive for a while but I don't think they have the right temperament to finish the race - there will be a red mist somewhere along the track!!
  17. ROFL!Yeah, he's OK, but not as good as that Sneijders guy tha't's on YouTube When Group B was banned, lots of the cars then moved into the European Rallycross events, half tarmac circuit and half dirt / gravel track. I was lucky in that two circuits, Brands Hatch and Lydden Hill were close to me, so I could go to lots of these events. Seeing RS200s 205T16s Audi S4s, R5 Maxi Turbo, Deltas, 6R4s, etc up close going full noise was ORSOME Searching YouTube now for some coverage....
  18. Another good clip - "The End Of Group B" Those were the great days of rallying, but looking back now it did get a little out of control and when people start to get killed, drivers and spectators, something had to be done. Even today those cars are just awesome and I have still not seen anything that compares in the flesh.
  19. A shame to see nice cars getting crashed, but that's the risk with rallying - no run off areas or tyre barriers, get it wrong and it's going to hurt! Loved the M3 rolling into the field and owning the Renault 5 Maxi, and the red M3 doing "an Olsen #14" !
  20. Bugger Bruce, you beat me to it!! I was well on the way to saving up for it as well, only another $17,899.50 and I was there, damn. Glad to hear it has found a good home up North. Already looking forward to seeing it finished...project thread??
  21. Fixed. That last clip with the E30 M3, now that is how to drive a rally car, he is giving that every last bit, impressive!
  22. I like the video link, the theory of the Beer Goggles. Personally I believe in the theory of the "Magic Bus". When you are out on the piss, there will be a point during the evening when you go to the toilets, and whilst you are in there the Magic Bus arrives, takes away all the old mingers in the establishment and replaces them with hot, young fillies. For me this usually happens around 10 o'clock in the evening!
  23. A great big fry-up, hard to get down, but feels a lot better when finished. Coupled with great big glasses of orange juice and a mug of strong sweet tea. Also best not to sit around feeling sorry for yourself, do something active, get the heart pumping and sweat out the poisons. One time only hangover cures - Swedish "Bath" - jumping into the Baltic Sea when you wake up, if there are no showers, even in the middle of summer it is still only about 5 degrees C, the hypothermia soon takes over from the hangover. Makes the locals laugh though!
