  1. Have a good one Young Fella! Good luck with the Air Force.
  2. And the greatest engine of all time... Ford Cosworth DFV V8, simple, functional and effective.
  3. ^^ wow, the Warrior 16v head on the 2ltr pinto block, the young apprentice's equivalent of the Cosworth, takes me back to my (mis-spent) youth! The ultimate BMW engine for me... S16 motor, with CF air box, looks sexy and sounds horny. One day I will have one, oh yes, one day!
  4. For the two options given I would say LMs as they look more "period" to the E30, CHs are more of a modern looking wheel IMHO. As another option for the touring I would say 17" Alpinas (but then I am biased).
  5. Most high end cars, including BMWs, are sold new as fleet, lease or company cars, not many are sold to private owners, particularly the higher end models with extras. As such those cars tend to get a lot of driving in the first 3 years of their life at which point the lease / contract expires and the cars are sold on at auction, where they get picked up mainly by used-car dealers and then sold on to private buyers. It's only at this point the amount of driving starts to come down. UK average us reckoned to be 12,000 miles per year, so just over 18,000kms, but a lot of company vehicles will be 20, 30 or even 40,000 miles per year. The upside is that the vehicle will be properly serviced and well maintained, to keep warranties, etc in place for the lease companies, so the higher mileage shouldn't be a problem.
  6. Fair play to you Mike.Whatever your views on Mike's "rusty" E28, check out the photostream on Flikr, loads of really top quality car photos. Lots of BMWs, VWs and Porkers.
  7. A Blonde woman Ran Over A Mattress On The Highway, And Decided Not To Worry And Kept Driving. The Ensuing Jumble Finally Whipped Around Enough to Tear A Hole In The Fuel Tank. The Subsequent Lack Of Fuel Is What Finally Brought Her Vehicle To Its Knees. She Had Still Managed To Drive 30 More Miles With A 60-Pound Tangle of Stuff Wrapped Around Her Drive shaft. She Had It Towed To Her Dealership And Complained That The Vehicle Had A "Sort Of Shimmy" When She Was Driving At High Speeds. Below Are The Photo's Of What They Found At Her Dealership.................... The First Photo Is By Far The Best. "Sort Of A Shimmy" I'll Bet It Did !
  8. With your baby face and bum fluff cheeks I would say the former rather than the latter! All these young pups making me feel old, "nay" for the current look, but a "yay" for previous. +1 for the trying too hard.
  9. From what I have seen on the roads recently most people have their fog lamps on because one of their headlights is not working and the other one is carefully angled to dazzle drivers coming the other way Then their are the other clowns who are driving with full beam on and can't remember where the switch is to dim the lights again, even though they only used it five f$%#ing seconds ago!!
  10. Definately the "marmite" car, you either love it or hate it, no middle ground with this one. ^^ As it is now = bad This = better And this = best incarnation of this project.
  11. Excuse my ignorance, but are there any differences between a 320 m20 head and a 325 head? Will it bolt straight up?
  12. I really liked the Mike Burroughs car in it's previous incarnation, didn't realise it had a big drama though. For my 2c, he has gone backwards with this latest look: I am not a fan of big intercoolers out front (too ricer for me) and the oil cooler as well is too much, wheels don't look as good as the previous and the fact that it now has a non-BMW engine (even if it is a good one) is also a downside for me. My preferred slant on the rat look is kind of a sleeper, car looks like a PoS (apart from a super set of rims) but has a surprise under the bonnet, which this car had in spades before, less so now.
  13. Totally awesome, guy must be pretty good to get all the interactions between the controls, the sim game and the gauges, etc on the dash earns my respect. I especially like the beer holder, complete with bottle of Warsteiner - how authentic! Shame it's LHD Just checking the garage - spare seat, E30 dash, E30 gauge cluster, interior trim.... big pile of wood. Hmmm...shame I'm pretty limited with electrickery and confusers
  14. A couple of questions for you if you don't mind.. 1) Is it a full M325i, not a 325i with all the M options ticked? 2) Does it have the LSD still, does it work ok? 3) Can you confirm which silver colour it is? 4) What size are the weaves 14" or 15"? Thanks!
  15. Have a good one Dan-o, hope you get lots of good prezzies for the E30!!
  16. Great looking car. I still love the black and gold JPS colour scheme - so many childhood memories of F1 Lotus and touring car BMWs
  17. ^^ How did you manage to work out that I was hoping to run this in the E30 series Andy ?? It is after all a 320i so it must be eligible right ?
  18. I'm not sure it is one of Mike's cars Foxy, how many did he bring over in total, was it 2 or 3? I thought I heard mention that one was sold to a guy down in South Island? This is the latest listing on Racecarsdirect for Mike D's car, and it mentions the unraced one alsol.. http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/2363...C_2003_003.html There are a few subtle differences as well, most noticeable in the under bonnet shots. I guess the only sure way to find out is to phone and ask Mike as Turners don't have much of a clue ...?
  19. Just spoken to the guy at Turners and he believes it is a 2ltr motor and has confirmed that there is no paperwork at all, which is a bit of a down side . I would imagine that you could track a lot of the history from BMW Motorsport if you asked nicely, but could be a bit of a gamble as to what has been done to the car since it was built. There are no spares of any shape or size with the car either, which would add big $$$s to any prospective buyer's budget for a race season. Just tyres, pads, rotors, etc. for wear and tear, let alone if something important let go! It's not like it's an E30 and someone else in the pits would have a spare, I doubt even Foxy's amazing truck of spares would cover something like this..
  20. Fixed! Still a big crack up though. Was looking at a rough E30 p/fl as a parts car and sales pitch included "you can race these you know" I guess he meant E30s, so I replied "what 320 autos with big fuel leaks and rust holes, really?" I always play dumb when looking at cars as most sellers can't help but spin some bullsh!t and trip themselves up at some point. "Yeah its a genuine 318 M-Tech M3, really rare and worth heaps"
  21. Don't worry, all American pick-ups come with gun racks as standard fitment, most have a variety of weapons already inside when you buy! They also come with a unique sat-nav / homing system that automatically takes you to a bar on Saturday night and drives you home at the end of the evening via the nearest strip joint (allegedly )
  22. I need to buy this car SOOOO badly, I have just the right colour scheme for it.... From what people are saying, I guess the consensus is that it's one of the WTCC Mike brought into the country a couple of years back. I know that one, or possibly both, has been up for sale for a long time. In all honesty I have never even thought of asking about the price as I would have imagined a few more zeroes on the guide price. However, it is still only a guide price and I would expect that the reserve is at the top end of that range. Depending on the exact spec of the car, and the spares / back up that goes with it that price could be the bargain of the century. Pretty sure it's not the Roal racing one that has the history behind it, more likely the un-raced "spare" car. What would the maintenance be like, how many parts are common to road cars, and how often would the engine need major work? I have seen some 2ltr touring car engines that need a complete re-build every 2000kms. Suppose that if I need to ask, it's really out of my price range
  23. And the reason the Big Three American car companies are F@#&ed? Discuss.....
  24. Got a couple in Palmy, not sure on tyre sizes, will check. Are you coming up to the Intermarques, can drop off there, or give to Oli / Kerry to take back if they have room?
  25. When you say everything under the bonnet, just to clarify - this includes the radiator, expansion bottle, coil, relays, etc? Also, where abouts in NZ are you based?
