can get new 5spd for around $4k and 6 spd for about $5-6k .have seen 5spd on ebay.de but most of the guys cant be bothered shipping out of germany. uk prices are dearer about 1000-1200pound for 6spd ones. us about 1500usd 6spd. so realy want the germany price . dont realy need a 6spd a 5spd will do .

this is a pic of one that came out of a 328i 96 jap import i parted out, it had cats , most early nz new cars didn't have any because of the extra cost to fit them and no law to say they needed them.

just replace all the bushes rods arms etc and is good as new.

or maybe this is worse . a 1984 E23 735i i parted out a few years ago . who would have thought about going into the bmw dealership and asking for the biggist whale you have and oh yea will have it in that burnt orange colour the same as that 323i out on the lot .

my manual gearbox in my e28 M535i has done 505,000km now and still feels good . and i do trash it on tracks when i can. auto's annoy me , changing gear when i dont want them to , slower take off and you have to use your brakes far more often because the auto's dont do much engine braking . and they weigh about twice the weight of a manual gearbox

if you need to check clearences on a e39 528i i have parts car here availible to play around with , its a non runner and has the head off , but can be fitted back on for testing etc .

yes that what i mean , i have the engine in the car but head is off so its easy to try them out .

not sure depends what the final bill ends up being .will have rebuilt head , some new paint etc etc . at a guess around $8k or more .

how about a 89/90 325i 5spd 4door black sth african . soon to be fitted with a 2.7L hartge head , hartge headers ,valve cover , black recaro leather . obc , ac , sunroof, long range tank , hartge body kit and wheels. be ready early next year. my mates project which i dont think he needs as he has lots of other bmw's

yes did my one in my 325ci , just had to run 2 extra wires for the temp senor up the front of the car can supply the sensor and cut the old plugs from the loom as well for $20 . pretty easy .found some diagrams on the net . just do a search on google

hes a bit off the price realy . have seen better examples sell recently for about $3000-4000 for a 525i
