nice car . i have always liked those. i have spares for those cars if needed . i used to own one a few years ago . orsome car . pretty quick for a tank too. brought a auction for $9500 ( was tarde in the a car dealer couldn't sell for months) spent about $1k on bits a bobs sold it on for $14k a few months later and i reckom i was the only one that ever made money on that car other than the bmw dealer who sold it when new .
  3. just buy a classic model then they dont go down so much or at all .
  4. its a real major to do that converssion .you will need complete engine loom , ecu , afm all sensors etc( about $500-800 worth ) . also the front hub/pully from the donar engine will have to splice into your old engine loom to make it work .then reprogramme the ecu (aboyut $1200) so the car will run at its best (as the 325/525i are tunned complety different to the 525e) just mod the flywheel . does the gearbox have the castings sticking out to fit the sensors into. like in the picture ? might be easier to find the right gearbox and flywheel , you have done most of the work so far
  5. could have broken the engine/grearbox mounts so gearbox is sitting on a different angle which will fowl up the gear shift mech
  6. sorry havn't looked at one closly .but i think you will need to remove the mech to view it properly . i do have a good mech if needed . 021433600
  7. does the box have the castings that stick out to except the sensors once you have drilled them out .if not then start looking for a newer manual gearbox kit . try some of the wreckers around some times they have odd boxes and flywheels .
  8. yes like i said only a flywheel from a early e30 325i pre face lift or a e28 525e will do . you could weld a trigger point on to the flywheel ( my freind did one a few years ago ) or you could convert the ecu system to post 88 325i or e34 525i m20 set up with the engine loom front hub and front crank sensors etc , but it wont run right with out getting the ecu remapped etc . i think it will be easier to weld a trigger point on the flywheel and cost a lot less in labour etc . has to be in the correct place , try ernst at baverian motors he did my freinds one .

    E36 M50 Turbo Kit

have you got some pics of the bits included. whay arn't you using it ??
  10. what was the manual kit from ??, did the flywheel have the metal trigger point sticking out . also have you bypassed the automatic kill switch so it starts in any gear etc ? the kit would have needed to be from another 525e manual or a preface lift e30 325i .
  11. are you interested in selling the wheels . or swapping with cash for some other types ??
  12. both my e28 with m5 engine and e36 3L m3 do about 160kw at gavins place . also similer results with e34 540i . all rated at the factoy with 286 hp at the fly wheel
  13. dont the cam sensors cause this problem sometimes??
  14. actually my freind is pulling a calipso red one off his 535iT to replace it with a Mtec kit etc .
  15. have parts if needed. 021433600

    E39 535 or 540

go for the 540i . should get a highish millage for around $8-10k and low K's $12-15K but get the pre varnos 4.4L models so you dont get the stupid water cooled alternator and all the vanos problems we all know that can happen .
  21. i have another crank availible if needed.just call me
  22. the engine got over heated due to failed water pump/radiator etc. the previous owner fixed it up , has to put some helicoils into the block for the head bolts to hold got it up and going the then some of the other bolts would'nt hold tried some selves then gave up beacuse they would'nt hold . so basically the ali block is stuffed but the head and other parts are ok. these ali blocks dont like getting hot at all . where as the older cast iron blocks like in the m30 ,m20 ,m50 can handle a certain amount of heat before big problems occur . i once drove a old wrecked car (E28 86 525i M30) home from otahuhu back to papakura with the needle in the red . stripped the engine down and it was still ok inside
