  1. the penetrating fluid did the trick, bearings popped out easy as, no corrosion inside the block at all. Manual just says to tap around the block with soft faced hammer and to remove all the bolts.....
  2. Will grab some of that crc penetrate, thanks josh. Crank and gear shafts spin freely after cylinders were forcibly removed. Yes i have the service manual. Pistons were at middle of travel when i put in press so i seriously doubt there is any "terminal" damage done by me. I thought splitting cases with wedges was a complete no no, especially if there is no gasket. I will update thread with progress this afternoon. Frame is looking puuurty....
  3. Having trouble spliting motorcycle crankcase, obviously hasn't been apart since new in 1977. I'm hoping some guru's on here will be able to share any tips or tricks they have used to get them apart. Also can anyone recommend some off the shelf penetrating fluid? the wd40 just isn't cutting it.

    Need advice

X & Y chromosome = male therefore xyonp = male homosapien on meth no wonder he wants to sell the intercoolaa separately.
  5. Just go and talk to the guys at rapid radio and tell them what you want, there is no-one else more helpful in akl. You could easily fit a 10" in the ski hatch hole and still have a folding armrest, which would retain the 5 seats and not void your warranty. I'm not sure about everyone else but i'd rather have a spare wheel than doof doof...
  6. When my e36 window got smashed I called insurance company (NAC) and filed claim, told them I'd be dropping it to Team McMillan. Somehow I got it in the next day and was fixed that day with OEM glass. Under 18 hours to go from dirty thieving ****** smash to brand new! I'm pretty sure you can take it wherever and whenever you want.
  7. have a plastic top on my e36 too. used a oversized filter removal tool from repco and a leather belt for grip wrapped a few times around the cap. worked a charm.
  8. Dont get a pod, they're a waste of time, the factory air box is superior by far imo. I saw something on here about a W.A.R chip, sounds like good bang for buck if you ask me. I've gone the mapecu way, an NZ creation so the support around here is amazing. Complete self tune if you've got a windows laptop. Using it eliminates the chunky barn door AFM so you get better flow, also gives u a crazy throttle response. When i had my 325i, i was pushing 195hp at the wheels with AFM removal and a new fuel map & headers from Wayney on here. If you wanna have a look or need some advice drop me a pm.
  9. Write-up/pics to see how you mounted seats with original rails? I have some Suede SR2's that need mounting properly.
  10. Ahk I get where you're coming from. Although you'll probably be surprised as to how many pounds m30's can handle standard although saying that I won't be venturing over 15psi till I get new head studs and MLS installed. Also the compresion ratio for the late model m30b35 is 9.0:1, which should handle the pressure nicely. Would be great to see those spread sheets! thanks. Standard motronic 1.1 ecu with a mapecu2 piggybacking. NO AFM OR MAF sensor!! also programable electronic boost control and backyard tuning capabilities.... should be fun to figure out OT - Will do Graham... let the good times roll
  11. I got the Tomei reg dirt cheap, and the bosch reg doesn't have pressure gauge abilities, which is what I'm wanting. I'm not sure about the power goal, not fussed as long as its running and safe. In the end I'm going to have 2 preset maps for daily and track so I may aswell do it once the right way to prevent limitations. For now then im just going to go with hose clamps and the push fittings as my fuel rail has already been modified. Are there any dos and don'ts with fuel filters? Neal: Are you saying the 3430cc m30 drink less than the rb26? just a question as i have no idea about fuel consumption.
  12. Am wanting to see what other people are running and on what engine, injectors, fuel lines, connections, fuel rails, pumps and regulators. I'm not looking to run with a fuel cell just yet, but am planning on adapting the current fuel lines to -6 AN to run with my tomei s type regulator. I cant find specs on Internal dia's for e30 fuel cables, so am wondering if it would be beneficial to use -8 or -10 as the fuel supply, or just stick with -6 till I replace the standard hose. If anyone has any personal experience theyd like to share itd be much appreciated. Edit: primarily id like to know if i can shove a -6AN swivel fitting on the end of the standard e30 fuel hose.
  13. Im failing to see your point. The wheels and treads are well within the guards, the suspension is functioning like bmw intended it to. Also i used a wheel made by bbs for 7 series bmws, so im not compromising the strength of the wheels. The track has increased by 50mm, so now my car is alot nicer to handle in the bends. If u dont like that then thats your opinion, mine is your a twat. But that doesnt mean im right.
  14. Check the part number on your driveshaft on realoem.com
  15. Success! Got a brand new set of rubber frm Mag n Tyre direct yesterday. RoTaLLa 205/55/16's, they fit perfectly and will require no guard rolling unless i lower, which i dont think il be doing any time soon. Will chuck some pics up this arvo. Brent: they're BBS 509's is20 16x7
  16. interested, what will these do to wheel camber and toe? If i get offset bushes too.
  17. Heres a few pics of the engine that i just deseized. After soaking in wd40/kerosene for almost a week, I finally managed to pull the cylinders off. Clearly im gonna need new pistons..... And you can clearly see the corroded line around the cylinders And the tools i used once id cracked it with the hydaulic press Next up Im gna split the case, clean it all up and reassemble with an good condition second hand top end.
  18. manual and auto driveshafts different lengths. I think its the gearbox end thats shorter but i might be wrong.
  19. Cheers brent. Believe it or not i actually wanted this offset. Getting new tires, hub rings today, will roll if needed. You could fit et10 on the rear with little modification. Also you dnt know of a spare or two of these alloys lying rnd do you? Think i spoke to you bout a set a few months ago.
  20. I dont see how this answers my question.
  21. Need to know the best tyre fitment for 16x7 et20 wheels on my e36 wagon. The 225/50/r16s are rubbing to f**k atm. Also keeping in mind ill be lowering the car by 2" next month.
  22. Whats the 848r up2? Could be persuaded to sell?
  23. Seeing as my bikes 1977 then i doubt i'll have any trouble. Cheers for that. Ordered all of my replacement parts off ebay today, so should be putting things back together in a few weeks. I also have some free time at Air NZ so I'm gna fold up a custom battery box out of 36 thou commercial aluminium. Will post up some pics tomorrow of engine.
  24. Whats your understanding of the re vinning process Kerry? I'm not too sure myself atm. Was gonna have a good chat to the inspector at vtnz but haven't got round to it yet. On another note, cylinder 2 was stuck solid, had to use hydraulic press to put a hole in the top of the piston.... Have been soaking it since Sun so hopefully will get the barrels off when i get time later this week, will pop some photos up then.
