I've done Auckland from Dunedin about a dozen times in the past 8 years. If I arrive in at Auckland airport Saturday morning, drive straight through to Wellington, stay the night at Newlands Motel there, Wellington to Picton at about 11am, arrive in Dunedin about 6pm - then again it did depend on what I was driving. My Porsche was this time, but the ML I bought back was a bit longer. Such a great trip though driving through the desert road in a quick good handling car would never get tiring IMO, the biggest hurdle is the Ferry IMO.

Can't quite remember where exactly but from memory about 80kms before WLG centre, there was cops bloody everywhere. Highway Patrol units mainly.

I can vouch for that, when I bought my ML back in Feb last year the guy infront of me got nabbed with a cop facing sideways to oncoming traffic with his gun out the window, it was down that stretch of road before you come into WLG, cops were everywhere from memory.

Good question or if you're buying new or BMW approved like I have a few times in the past your warranty and servicing requirement's are sorted.

To my knowledge they jam the radars/lasers on the cars and those hand held pieces of sh*t. Not sure about mobile speed-cameras but they definitely don't work with fixed speed cameras.

Just as I'm reading this now it's exactly 20 degrees in and 1.5 outside and it's just gone into defrost.Reason for not having the fire on is because we were out for birthday turned it on at 4pm at 22 degress asking, got home an hour ago and it was 20 inside. It does work but fark it must be raping some power!

Because the machine stops working for sometimes up to 5-10 minutes and in that time it's not producing any heat at all inside - if it constantly does this it's either not working correctly or not fit for the room size.

Do you guys get frosts up in Orklind? Can't be too good if heatpumps are going into defrost mode up there huh?
