Hi Cliff. Is the car for sale? Was it imported damaged reasoning for getting it all u to code lol? Would probably prefer an UN-molested one if at all possible if I was to head down that path.

Cooke Howlison BMW have a brand spankin new one exactly the same as THIS but in charcoal. Normal RRP is about 70k on these? That's what I tallied up on the website. They are selling theirs for $59,990 - even thought the new model is out April next year, I think that car is a better looking machine. Brand new ones remapped will produce 158kw and 454nm

To be honest bugger all. Just in this scenario the reason I'd buy a diesel is resale value and power.

IMO they are better but where they really come into their stride is SUV's diesel vs petrol in a X5 for example is a no brainer.

Haha, it happens every time. Over owning a V8/V10 it leaves you with more money to spend on drink. I like the power and performance I'm just too mean to pay for it.

Yup, in England they have a different colour for their farm diesel which is set at a different price as when you fill up your car over there you pay a combined tax price. If the petrol was the same performance then it would be a no brainer, seing they are virtually the same price new and are worth a lot more 2nd hand than a petrol equivalent it makes sense to own a diesel still.

Yup. Currently... $1462 per 10,000km @ $2.11 per litre for a 320i ES $1248.70 per 10,000km @ 1.52 per litre for a 320d ES inc RUC So if you did 10,000 per year your total costs for running inc rego: $1893 petrol $1679.70 diesel I average 25-30kms p/a so say I did 30kms my costs would be $5039.10 for the diesel vs $5679 so still very comparable. So you say, your servicing costs will be higher but not by a great deal I'm told however, the red 320d M sport comes with a two year warranty and service plan. Ok so then you come down to the power... 320i is 115kw and 200nm @ 0-100kph in 8.9 seconds (auto) 320d is 135kw and 380nm @ 0-100kph in 7.6 seconds (un-remapped auto) Remap will give the 320d 460nm and 162kw Ok so you go wow, is it really worth it? IMO yes.
  8. Nuff said. I've owned a late model Mondeo and whilst they are made well they don't compare with a new BMW. Over my old E53 the newer ones feel even better made.

Yes yes yes, my sights are always set high and then I end up with an oil burner. I guess it's running costs that ultimately scare me off at an average of 25,000km p/a. After giving that 123d a hiding all day yesterday it was still averaging 7.5 / 100km If I was to go M5 it would have to be a NZ new low mileage example and there doesn't seem to be anything around that matches those per-requisites. I now have a M sport 3 series in the driveway lol...

I do like Audi's but I'm yet to drive one that feels as good and as well made as a late model BMW - they also aren't the most reliable car in the world and when they break they can be rather expensive. The 123d I drove yesterday felt awesome to drive and felt like a real drivers car and being and even though it's diesel it would still dominate a lot cars in corners and in performance.

This is going to sound way off the beaten track here but whilst at Southern Motorcourt looking at an drooling over an Audi R8 I came across a 123d - so out of curiosity I took it for a drive. Anyone driven one? 123d That car has some serious power and I looked up on the remapping and it would produce 500nm with 197kw That is V8 eating stuff in a car that size.

AntiL33t at work here is saying the GT-R aswell... Phoned the service department at Nissan here and she thought I was talking about a GT-R Maxima? I heard there was problems with dealers servicing them when they first arrived, I take it this has been sorted?

Trying to decide over the last few nights what to look at next and trying to decide. I want something that hauls ass this time - maybe Bimmersport can choose the next one lol... A few possibles : GTR There's a few M5's but seem to be imports... 996 Turbo Possibly one of these at the right price Possibly a M3 sedan at a decent price
  14. My first X5 averaged less than that on the open road and same engine pushing 4 wheels and less aerodynamics.
  15. That is a serious amount of rig for the money. I'd rather a 200km kiwi new car than a 100km import personally. Yes I'm one of those assholes who only buys NZ new.
  16. I just couldn't part that kind of money on a car especially a Ford! Some great history on it though, probably creates alot of it's value tbh.
  17. Well surely that would have to be the cheapest E92 sold in NZ to date?
  18. Could be a bargain for someone here... E92 M3
  19. I took in yesterday and they said I have nothing to worry about for ages. Booked in there for a service!
  20. Will keep this in mind, what sort of labour would BMW charge for this do you rekon? Just so I know when the time comes. I rekon I've got yonks before it needs to be replaced but just so I know.
  21. Cheers, I'm thinking the clutch won't be far away on it. What kind of dosh is it worth to have it done? Are they adjustable or?
  22. Is that an acid based solution? I heard they can damage the clear coat on the wheels?
  23. Cool so I've got the car & so far I'm very impressed with the performance and handling. Have only picked up on one issue and thats sometimes when you turn the car on the radio doesn't turn on, screen shows up with station but no sound! What's the best stuff to use for cleaning the wheels? as I doubt the previous owner had done them for a while, I've used some CRC stuff I had here but it was about as good as an ashtray on a motorbike! Some preliminary pics before it gets the hell groom!
