  1. I would offer but I'm not very mechanically minded so I wouldn't really be that useful to be honest Maybe see if the owner can drop if off to a mechanic for an inspection?
  2. it's local to me but I don't have the proof of funds he requires for a test drive lol

    Gear stick boot

Hi I need a gear stick boot (or whatever they're called) for my 1996 E36 coupe RealOEM tells me the part number I'm after is 25111434324 Must be black leather and in good condition Called Jeff Gray BMW today and they want $137 and it was ex-Germany (ie a month long wait) Ideally I'd like to have it before I go on my road trip next Thursday lol Cheers

    E36 Coupe

Pretty much perfect weather for washing cars today, so I gave my car a much needed clean ...
  7. yea I could probably get way better figures if I nana'd the car and didn't drive in traffic or through towns / cities heading up to Auckland for Big Day Out, so will be interesting to track the open road economy
  8. I was quite lucky with my warranty and I got it with no excess (I think they actually stuffed that up because the standard policy document says it should have an excess for BMW's) my car overheated and that one claim was worth more than the warranty cost well worth it, but like mentioned above, you have to have an authorised workshop doing regular maintenance and the car must be kept fully stock
  9. bit of a thread bump sorry I've been tracking my fuel economy on that Fuelly website over the last few months as I've been getting various things done to my car. Since I started recording my data on the website, I have had a manual conversion, diff change (3.64 to 3.15), k&n induction kit and resonator installed in place of the cat converter since doing all of that, my fuel economy has gone from consistently 11.5l/100k every fill up to now 9.8l/100k so my car is now worth a little bit more, is 1000x more fun to drive, sounds cooler and is also saving me a little bit on gas money primo!!
  10. got electric orange as one of the login bonus paints today, so I painted the gtr and took it for a spin
  11. yea that would be nice, hopefully a DLC pack will contain a few I'd like to see an E30 M3 and an E36 M3, an 8 series would be choice too I do quite like the M3 GTR, the handling is amazing
  12. b-spec - with new drivers who have very little skill, you might need a rather powerful car to help them out but once they've got a few races under their belt, it's all about tactics you can keep hammering the "go faster" and "overtake" options, but their stamina will deplete faster 2 tactics you can employ - 1) hammer the "go faster" and "overtake" options and try to get the driver into the lead as early as possible, then cool him off and only tell him to go faster when you notice the AI catching up. Hopefully you'll be able to fend off the other drivers until the end of the race. 2) be a little aggressive at the start but not as much as the above tactic, get the driver near the front, 3rd or 4th position is usually good enough, and let the AI drivers tire out (they lose stamina and mental strength as the race goes on too), then towards the end of the race you'll still be in a good position, hopefully you'll still have tonnes of stamina and mental strength, and that's when you start giving the "go faster" and "overtake" commands it really helps to know the tracks and the duration of the commands you give your driver give the "go faster" commands at the start of the straight, give the "overtake" commands when your driver is actually in a good position to overtake, and give them the "keep pace" or "slow down" commands around the sections of the track that you know the driver won't be able to overtake on also pay attention to the b-spec driver's mood ... down orange arrow next to his name will mean he's not feeling so good and isn't going to perform up to his stats, green arrow means he'll be normal and blue up arrow means he's on top form if all your drivers have a down orange arrow, then go play a-spec for a while and go back to b-spec later hopefully though you will have at least 1 driver who is green or blue and you can just rest the other guys who are orange (unlock more drivers at later levels - I currently have 3 drivers) lastly, there is a difference between cold hearted and hot headed drivers - cold hearted drivers tend to be useless at overtaking, but won't lose their stamina as quick, they need lots of input from you to get ahead, but once ahead you can usually walk away and make a coffee or whatever; hot headed drivers are basically the opposite
  13. lol yea I'm gonna do that after I get the $10mill trophy does anyone want to trade museum cards? I'm starting to get a few double ups now
  14. the culprit was ... the hedgehog-like resistor
  15. that's something I really like about Forza 3 over GT5 ... the immense level of customisation on any car you want there is also a very large lack of orange paint in my GT5 garage, just a touch under 100 cars and only 1 orange (and only coz it was from the dealer and they had premium passion orange as an option) I want Inka Orange or at least something close for my 2002
  16. I'd just like to say a big thanks to Jon and Keren at JK Southern Euro My E36 is now manual, has a lightweight M20 flywheel, diff changed so I can have cruising revs, has had a cooling system overhaul including a proper waterpump and thermostat housing (none of that plastic fantastic stuff anymore), new hoses, and got my lack of aircon issue sussed quick smart Jon is a top bloke with a tonne of beemer knowledge and has gone way above what I'd expect from a mechanic in terms of helpfulness, service and turn-around times cheers Jon
  17. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=292522 same symptoms so will give you a call Ray to suss out the part would it be on the passenger side or the drivers side? (I'm guessing the one in the link is left-hand drive)
  18. Hi I'm having some slight issues with my heater / aircon A couple of days ago I went to go to a mates place and noticed there was no airflow coming from the vents I cranked up the speed and still nothing, I also tried the demister and still nothing All the lights show up on the control panel perfectly It doesn't matter whether I have the aircon on or off either (actually, any setting at all doesn't provide any air flow) Last night when I went out, it decided it was going to work again, so I thought hmmm maybe it just needed to be turned off and on like an IT guy would say to do with a PC issue lol But then when I left my mates place, it wasn't working again Lose wire maybe? Or something major? 1996 E36 323i coupe has the digital hvac control panel

    GT5 Bundle

to anyone with the logitech driving force wheel ... can you remove the gear stick entirely? I wouldn't mind taking it off and just using paddle shift, but I just don't like the idea of left hand drive lol it's the only thing stopping me from buying the wheel lol, oh and the distinct lack of power plugs in this house
  20. spotted on SH2 going from Wgtn to Lower Hutt: a 4 door E36 ... Fiji Green damn nice colour I reckon
  21. I thought that was on fast forward, but the timer is ticking along normally! I love how it accelerates past 400kph like it's nothing
  22. yea definitely double and triple check that it states it is $7,500 agreed value if it does not specifically state agreed value then it is market value even if it is full cover
